vickie_lang_mua: SALIERI. One of the absolute highlights of this show was collaborating with @paulbettany to bring Salieri to life. The so-called “patron saint of mediocrity” a hardworking, disciplined, deeply devout… yet painfully ordinary man. For his hair, I wanted everything to feel controlled, restrained, and just a little too tight. We chose a traditional hard-front wig of the period, we had 2 wigs made for quick changes. The wig was dressed with compact rolls and neat, disciplined waves. Nothing out of place. Nothing indulgent. Salieri is proud of his appearance, but it’s deliberately simple, especially when set against the chaotic visual world of Amadeus. Order vs chaos. Control vs genius. Every detail telling the story. 🎭✨
lisawduncan: Designing the costumes for @paulbettany who plays Salieri the Court Composer was a challenge. This devoutly religious man was wealthy and successful and he ages over 40 years in the story.. It was such a pleasure to work with Paul to create his wardrobe. He is such a wonderful actor and a true collaborator. He was so patient with us and generous with his time. He even stayed longer in a fitting once for our breakdown team to hand paint over the embroidery on his jacket, as I decided to change the colours! I was very lucky to have some wonderful assistant designers, and a very skilled team and workroom in Budapest.
