Pee Oui Oui
you can call them flowers if you want. I wont mind. I realized after the initial set that I hate drawing any sort of flora so I did a half ass attempt lmao but I wanted fluorescent succulents. If you remember I posted a while back that the Paul Rubens brand sent me a watercolor set and I didn't know what they would be sending me. So a fluorescent neon watercolor set caught me a bit offguard and it took me a bit to come up with an idea that I knew I could use them with and this is what I came up with.
This has actually been sitting on my dining room table for a long time because I did that diamond painting first. I was really inspired to paint this but I think I might have sabotaged myself and potentially what this maybe was going to be. The issue is filming. I tried to film me painting this because I'm trying to get into that side of the internet and my work space is kind of still dependent on natural light. It has been storming every afternoon or I'm getting off work late and it feels too late to pop out the painting set and make a mess. So I was waiting to work on this til I had lots of sun and time but then I got obsessive over the diamond painting. So cutting myself off when I really want and am inspired to paint something is pretty painful and its a great way to never accidentally finish something or to lose your inspiration. After christmas I'm hoping I can get a better art space and more lights I guess or perhaps an seperate camera because I film everything on my phone. Idk but I was really inspired and kept forcing myself to put it off until I lost the drive. Fun.
But also, because these are neon-ish colors and me, having attempted to scan in neon type colors before I did know that my scanner was probably not going to pick the brightness of them so I did plan for that as well. I did mix in a lot of my standard pastel watercolors with them as a back up. My intuition was correct though and the fluorescence did not scan but the dullness still looks fine on the computer screen so I consider that a success. They are a bit brighter in real life though.
but anyway, thanks paul rubens for sending me stuff. I also did use my neon 80s schmincke set a bit as well. Every tube exploded from both sets and I got paint everywhere they were jammed so full of paint.
I ran out of time this week but I need to edit the video in which I painted this and upload it. Thats going to take me all day.

Young Miwa and Jeff. I was testing the @rubens_paul paper and is really good, so far I'm enjoying a lot. And the colors, even student grade, looks amazing on this paper. #watercolor #watercolour #jeffwinters #jeff #winters #watercolors #watercolours #miwasardee #miwa #sardee #ocs #modgur #paulrubens #watercolorpaper #hotpress https://www.instagram.com/p/BxpdjLfAPLp/?igshid=1ga09p4toq1d2
So PaulRubens was super cool and sent me a watercolor set to test out for free. I feel obligated to art with it because HOW COOL IS THAT!?!?!? I never expected to get so much free stuff. Bad news is I'll have to do surgery on the opera purple because its a dud and dry in the tube. Its the swatch in the middle second to bottom. Its one of the only NONFLUORESCENT colors and pretty looking. So Id like to salvage it.
The very very very first watercolor brands I discovered when I started doing traditional art was paul rubens. So I'm pretty confident with the quality I'm getting into and thrilled even if I had the one dud.
My only issue is I didn't know what to expect to receive in the mail. It was a surprise and I had an illustration ready to color for testing but I was expecting your normal basic color palette (rgb). I was not ready for fluorescents. I can not do my illustration with fluorescents. So now I have to go back to the drawing bored. Which puts me back just a little bit because I have something else I need to film too and I worry about phone space with these files lmao. I did though buy those schmincke neon colors a while back and never used them either and we may need to do like a collaboration with the two sets to say I've used both.
I'm also running out of time just in general.
and I know I said I was going to have to slow down on spending money but I'm considering buying a mushroom hole punch because I just discovered discbound binding discs for notebooks. I like having journals for my artworks but its hard to find the type of paper I want in journals and I bought this one stack of paper a while back and I want them in notebook form.
Also tempted to try making a customs stamp because I've been sending stuff out in the mail recently. 8I
anywho, today I think I may speed paint the illustration that I was going to do but can't do anymore but I'll never go back to it ever again if I don't paint it. Also I hate skipping a page in my journal because it makes it hard to lay the page flat when its waterlogged and the page underneith it has been painted on. So it may not be a great illustration in the end but itll be a take up space painting instead.
also I bought horizona zero dawn2 last night but havent played it yet 8O

After seeing the amazing glitter paper in my Jane Davenport journal I had to go find individual sheets for other projects. I found both the hot press and the cold press of the Paul Rubens paper on Amazon. I can also test things now without feeling like I’m going to ruin my journal. . . . . #artsupplyjunkie #artsupplyhorder #artsupplyaddict #artsupplies #paulrubens #paulrubenswatercolor #watercolor #watercolorpaper #watercolorpapers #coldpress #hotpress #glitterpaper #glitterwatercolor #glitterwatercolorpaper (at Houston, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUYMbUUv0SZ/?utm_medium=tumblr
