Pavolo’s Pizzeria - East Main St in Denville, NJ
One of our Tumblr friends recommended Pavolo’s a while back and I decided it was time to stop being lazy and hit up some Denville pizzerias! I was hungry, so I decided to try two spots and get a slice at each. I stopped at Pavolo’s first, which is located in a crowded shopping center that was a pain to park in. I was considering a specialty slice, but nothing really stood out to me so I just went for a plain and an order of garlic sticks. I’m not crazy about garlic knots, but these looked really cool so I decided to check ‘em out!
I decided to sandwich my slice between the two garlic sticks I got. Wow, those sticks were good. The top was super fluffy while the bottom had a nice crisp to it. The garlic is usually super overpowering for me when I have knots so I was pleasantly surprised by how subtle the flavor was in these. Definitely the best garlic stick/knot appetizer I’ve ever had.
After that awesome garlic stick, I was disappointed by how average the plain slice was. The sauce was a little iffy with a hefty portion of cheese on top that had a nice consistency. The crust was really good though, which explains why the sticks were so good. Anyway, the garlic sticks are without a doubt worth checking out, but the pizza gets a pass from me. Only cost me $3.60 in total, meaning the sticks were only like $1.50. A total steal for such taste!
