Panda Bear’s “Crosswords” video featuring trippy dancing, key cards, octopus tentacles.Â
Panda Bear Crosswords
video: Panda Bear – Crosswords
Okay, at this point I’m convinced that the Grim Reaper era is never going to end. I’m not a very superstitious person, but maybe they keep giving us more because I insist on making the safe assumption that we've reached the conclusion. Whether this is really the finale or there’s somehow more to come, enjoy the absolutely amazing video for Panda Bear’s “Crosswords,” my favorite track off January’s full-length and the EP of the same name. I have to say, this one sets the bar pretty high for all future Animal Collective creations.
Panda Bear – Lisbon Zoo (Crosswords Bonus Track)
The physical version of Panda Bear’s Crosswords EP is out tomorrow, and as one of the most elaborate album eras of the past few years reaches its thrilling conclusion, you know he couldn’t resist putting out one more bonus. If you ordered the 12” record, you’ll be getting “Lisbon Zoo” via your digital download code, which you may remember was attached to Crosswords cut “Jabberwocky” at the original ATP show. The raw energy of those combined tracks is greater than anything else from PBVSGR, and hearing Panda Bear lay the bass on thick for a studio version of "Lisbon Zoo" is the best finale I could've hoped for.
If I did the math right, this puts us right around 24 original or updated tracks, five remixes, four releases, four videos, three mixes, a Boiler Room set, a beautiful website, a documentary, and about a million tour dates. I’m sure you’ll agree that watching all of that unfold has been absolutely wild, and it’s easily made for one of my favorite music experiences ever.
Update: The track was taken down for now so I've added that ATP performance video instead.
In case you’re not ready to let go of Halloween, here’s Panda Bear’s mix of spooky tunes that got left off of Panda Bear vs. Grim Reaper.
stream Panda Bear’s Swallow at the Hollow mix
Just when we thought the Grim Reaper era was over, Panda Bear returns with 26 minutes of original odds, ends, and outakes from the album’s early stages. If you dug those cut-up PBVSGR mixes that appeared on the official site as much as I did, trust me when I say “Swallow at the Hollow” is a dream come true. Could the Year of the Bear have been any better? Hopefully there’s another surprise or two waiting for us before 2015 concludes...
Swallow at the Hollow is a mix of things I made around the same time as all the Grim Reaper tracks. They kind of feel like scribbles or doodles and for some reason or another I couldn't find my way of singing with them. Some of them just stuck out like sore thumbs. I hope you enjoy them and wanted to say thanks very much for listening and thanks to those of you who came out to see the shows the past couple of years. Happy Halloween... PEACE noah
