I just spent a disproportionate amount of time doing this. The breakdown:

What was supposed to be a peaceful family reunion, with Vezz finally introducing Rissia to his gentle and sweet-natured mother Cautti, goes very left of center.

The room fell silent for a moment as Vezz followed Cautti into the back, and once he was certain they were out of earshot, Teall turned his head, dark orange eyes focused on Rissia. "...you're Pazz's daughter, right?"

Rissia frowned, brow furrowing slightly. "I am. Why do you ask?"

"Just curious, is all. Pazz is pretty well respected. He does a lot of the work on our new PK golems." He lifted his chin slightly. With that serious expression, the way he curled up his lip just slightly, the resemblance to Vezz was much more marked. They must've gotten it from Cautti. "It just... baffles me, seeing someone like you with someone like him." Again, his ears twitched, and he narrowed his eyes slightly. "So it begs the question. How much is he paying you? To play housewife, to try to make Mother think he's somehow "normal?""

If he hadn't spoken so carefully, with such conviction in his words, she would've sworn he was joking. As it was, however, her ears pulled back as her eyes widened. "I... beg your pardon?"

Teall just shrugged. "Come on, isn't it obvious? He's Inquest. No self respecting person from as respectable family as yours would be caught within miles of him." "Former Inquest," Rissia corrected, trying her best to keep her voice level. "He hasn't been with them for almost six years now-"

The taller asura's laugh interrupted her. "Please, you can't possibly tell me you believe he's really changed. I know how the Inquest works. You don't just leave the Inquest unless it's in a body bag. This is all just a clever ploy."

The frustration Rissia had felt at first when he spoke was fanning rapidly into an inferno now, and she narrowed her eyes, baring her teeth slightly. "Vezz is a good man! He made mistakes but he's been trying to make up for them. I understand you must've felt betrayed, but he's trying to do better."

"How? By getting two of Rata Sum's most promising geniuses nearly killed? By fooling the daughter of a promising potential council candidate into thinking he's somehow magically better just because he doesn't call himself "researcher" anymore? Think with your head. He's playing you for a sap."

I may have a new boy.

Meet Peacemaker Teall, Vezz’s half brother and more of a bully with a badge than a good cop. He’s well liked by his superiors and certainly gets results, but that doesn’t mean he’s nice about it...

Red - What makes you angry?

The asura frowns a bit, his brow knitting as he considers the question. It isn’t particularly hard to answer, but finding the right words… that’s the tricky part.

“I supposed I could go with the obvious,” he finally sighs. “I could say injustice in general. But really, what burns me up the most is people who bully and abuse anyone weaker than them just because they have the ability to do so. Using their own strength and authority to grind others under their heel. It isn’t right, and it shouldn’t happen. So since leaving the Inquest… I’ve made it a point to stop that, whenever I can.”

Peacock - Are you a more flashy person, or do you like to blend in?

“Oh my friend, you have no idea how much I would love to be flashy!”

Ympp laughs brightly, hands behind his head, his wide grin showing off his missing teeth. Once his laughter dies out a bit, however, he lets his hands drop, though one comes back up to give a so-so motion in the air.

“I try to blend in as best I can, anyway. I’m a thief, and you can’t do that if everyone’s looking your direction, right? So making sure I’m not the center of attention is key. When I’m just at Vigil Keep, though, or spending time with what few people I trust? I’m the brightest guy in the room. I mean, look at me. I can light up a room with a grin, don’t you think?”

Teal - What makes you feel most at peace?

(Oooooh I haven’t talked much about Teall yet…)

A frown creases the dark gray asura’s face, vivid orange eyes narrowing somewhat. He seems to be thinking very hard on that, and finally, he rolls his shoulders in a dismissive shrug.

“Does anyone really know peace? Ugh, dumb question. Anyway, I feel most at peace when I’m exercising. I like to keep my body in good shape, because I can’t do my job otherwise. So you know. Training, sparring, lifting, running… I can zone out a little when I do those things. Focus a little better. And… I guess when I visit Mother at her restaurant, too.”
