I just went through ur blog to see more of Laxzzi and Batanga because I use Batanga a little in my own headcanon story and thought giving her a gf was sooo fun!! So I'm curious how you characterize Batanga and her approach to relationships? Does her personality differ much from in-game / whatre ur own headcanons youve given her as an agent?

I tend to characterize Batanga very similarly to how she is in game, with some fun little spins: she's a flirt. She's cunning. She knows how to play people and game a system other races sometimes rig based on gender. With more casual relationships, I think she sometimes sees them as tools.

Which was why it took such a ridiculous amount of time for Laxzzi to realize Batanga's flirting with HER was serious.

In general, she plays up her role as the femme fatale, using her charm, charisma, looks, and the occasional intervention of her buff wife to deal with things on missions. (Though Batanga is, nine times out of ten, the actual immediate threat; Laxzzi is a distraction, if one that's quite capable of taking care of herself if things go sideways.) Once they start working together, Batanga often slides into the role of someone who's not very capable in a fight. Laxzzi, after all, LOOKS considerably more intimidating, so it's easy to divert attention and let her do her work while Laxzzi stands there and stares people down.

I joke sometimes that when the pair is asked to disarm, Laxzzi's done after her axes and greatsword... but Batanga takes twenty minutes not only putting down all her guns and the thirty or so odd knives stashed on her own person, but also the thirty or so odd knives she stashed on Laxzzi "just in case."

And it's worked well since Riel first paired them up.

Interestingly, I don't think Batanga had considered anything serious with Laxzzi when they first met. She was interesting because she was former Inquest, and because she had that funky eye from all the experiments. She was also pretty in her own way, but beyond that, she just wasn't interested in anything long term. It wasn't her style. But being partnered with each other constantly on missions because of how well they worked together caused them to get to know each other better, and as a result, one thing led to another.

Batanga still flirts a LOT, even after they start dating and after they've finalized a contract. It's why so many people suspect she was dating or sleeping with Gorr after the interactions in the personal story. She's naturally very charismatic, and she enjoys flirting when she finds someone attractive. She does try to make it clear she's not genuinely interested; in some ways, especially with men, it's just another part of the game for her. Another piece of the mask that puts one more layer between herself and the world at large, letting her act without too many people scrutinizing her actions too closely. And in some ways it's obvious when she's genuine in her flirting, as usually it's directed at Laxzzi.

At the end of the day, I think there are vanishingly few people who know Batanga behind the nigh infinite masks she wears as part of her work. Riel. Tybalt did, before he died. Laxzzi. And when she's not "on," she's playful, a little silly, with a love for a sweet drink and a lounge about the house with a good Snargle Goldclaw book.

Got remade Laxzzi to 80, put her in her endgame look, and immediately raced through the personal story so I could take some screens of her with her darling girlfriend Batanga.
