Is Wukong even going to be able to try and woo Tang in your Cursed Coffee AU? Don't get me wrong I'm a sucker for the Inkypages content (and also your AU your rules, I don't want you to feel as if I'm pushing because that's the last thing I mean when I ask this) but I feel it's been pretty one sided so far with just Tang and Macaque (as adorable as it is seeing this edgy boy melt into a puddle for Tang).

I think he does! I avoided it for so long bc I didn’t want this au to be solely about shipping (even though that’s one of the best parts of it) but the short answer? Yes , he does try….

At first he saw Tang as nerdy fanboy and kept his distance but after discovering he was the reincarnation of Tripitaka decided to pursue him platonically. Doing so bc he missed his old friend. soon after those feelings turned into something more but he held off as long as possible bc he didn’t want to ruin the friendship.

Eventually he gives in and chaos ensues

I think this is my first time writing for Peachtea so here you are! I’m sorry for how long this took

B16. “I really like you! Uh… I didn’t mean to blurt it out like that.” B26. “You’re special to me.” B30. “Crushing hard, huh?” C3. “It’s none of your business.” “It’s my business if you cry because of me.” C11. “You appreciate people only after they’re gone.”

It was no secret that Tang was a huge fan of the Monkey King. He couldn’t hide that secret no matter how hard he tried. It was also no secret that he had a huge crush on the king. A lot of people had crush on him but they hadn’t gotten to know the king like the scholar did.

When they saw Sun Wukong, they saw a legendary hero, a figure. He, on the other hand, had seen the man underneath.

He wasn’t just the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, he was a person. He laughed and cried, had opinions, had likes and dislikes, he wasn’t just a figure anymore.

Learning more about him had made Tang fall deeper.

During their time on the Dronecopter, they became friends and Tang’s crush had developed from that into love. If only he knew how to tell the other.

He tried to hide it as best he could but this was Tang and he was no good at hiding the fluttering feeling the king gave him.

He was going to act on them... if the king hadn’t been avoiding him for the past few weeks.

Tang wasn’t sure what it was. Maybe Wukong had finally grown tired of him. His head was resting on the dining room table, wallowing in despair, when the door opened and the king walked in with a peach in hand.

The scholar quickly put a hand up. “Monkey King! How are you?”

The king massaged his neck nervously. “Oh, hey, Tang. I’m good... what are you doing here?”

“Waiting for Pigsy so I can steal dinner from him.”

“It’s two p.m,” the king pointed out.

“You never know. Maybe he wants to cook early. So while you’re not busy... do you want to hang out?”

“Actually... I have to train the kid. See you!” Then the king bolted out of there.

Tang sighed and trudged over to Pigsy to complain.

As he pressed his forehead against the pig’s back and complained, his best friend merely chuckled and said, “Crushing hard, huh?”

“Obviously. Now show me some sympathy. Preferably with noodles.”

“No, you’re already a freeloader enough.”

“Then help me. What do I do?”

“Talk to him.”

“Have you been listening? I tried! He won’t talk to me. What did I do wrong?”

“I’m sure ya didn’t do anythin’ wrong. He’s probably got a lot on his mind. We are tryin’ to find the parts to defeat the White Bone Spirit.”

“Yea, I know but he doesn’t avoid you or MK or anyone else. Just… just me. Maybe he got tired of me.”

“I would too,” the pig sarcastically stated. “But honestly, Tang, try and talk to him more. If he doesn’t talk to you, come to me and I’ll deal with it.”

“Okay. I’ll try. Thank you, Pigsy.”

“No problem, pal.”

The scholar walked around the ship and thought to himself. Maybe he would get lucky enough to see the king. His heart ached. Seriously, what had he done? Did the monkey despise him now? Was he unnerved by the scholar being in love with him?

Tang didn’t have much of a concept of personal space when it came to people he admired. New Years had proven that.

It wasn’t until a few days passed that he spotted the king again. The king was in the training area, shirtless. Tang blushed. Maybe this was the perfect time to find out what he had done wrong.

“Uhhh, hey!”

The monkey paused and spun around. “Oh, uhhh, hey, Tang...”

“Hey... how are you?”

“Good... Look at the time. Got to go!” The monkey threw on his shirt and was about to bolt.

“Wait, Monkey King! There’s something I have to ask you.”

“Can’t it wait until later?”

“No! You’ve been avoiding me! And I don’t want that.”

“I’m not avoiding you.”

“Yes, you are!”

“Look...  Monkey King.” 

“Bye!”

Tang panicked and shouted the first thing that came to his mind, “I really like you!” A hand clasped over his mouth. “Uh… I didn’t mean to blurt it out like that.”

The king’s face was a deep red. “Tang, I…”

“Yea. I know… you don’t feel the same way. Sorry to bother you.”

Then Tang ran and slammed his bedroom door shut. Face flushed even when his heart ached. It hurt more than he could say.

The next few days made him avoid the group. On a beautiful starry night, he was crying and sniffling. He hoped the book in his hands wouldn’t be covered by tear stains.

Steps came towards him but he refused to lift his head. “Hey,” a familiar voice whispered. He looked up to see the king with creased brows, eyes showing he was worried. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s none of your business,” he growled.

“It’s my business if you cry because of me.” Sitting down next to him, he sighed and reached a hand out but it was slapped away. “Tang, I’m sorry. Look... You’re special to me.”

“It doesn’t feel like it.”

“It wasn’t right for me to avoid you but I might as well tell you. Over the past few weeks, I realized I developed feelings for you and I know you like me but I wasn’t exactly sure if it was a simple infatuation or if it was more than that. I needed some time to think over the situation and when you told me, I was frozen. I didn’t know what to do.” The king threaded fingers through his fur.

He continued, “Then I realized after you ran away that you appreciate people only after they’re gone. And with what’s happening now, I realized I didn’t want to leave anything unsaid.”

The king gasped as he was wrapped into a hug. “You’re so stupid. Of course I like you.”

“I have so much making up to do. I’m sorry.”

“You better be. It still hurts but I might forgive you if you give me some stories.”

“Alright. I can do that.” Tears rolled down his back but he didn’t seem to mind. They enjoyed the warmth as they held each other.

Then hands intertwined.

13. Please Marry Me / 15. The Way I Feel When I'm With You...

Sun Wukong laid in bed, his arms and legs stretched out and sprawled across it. His tail gently thumped against the sheets. He stared up at the ceiling, blinking, listening to the clock tick. It was 6 AM, and Monkey King couldn't sleep. He sighed as the other residents of the ship begin to wake up and start walking around. He's memorized their schedule by now. First Sandy Sha Wujing wakes up, makes breakfast, then Tang follows to either help or be the first to eat depending on when he wakes up. He's folllowed by Pigsy Zhu Bajie, then Mei, MK, and finally the monkey himself. The monkey didn't realize, but he smiled when Tang crossed his mind. He decided to get up, maybe surprise the others, he didn't know. He just didn't want to lay there all morning. As he opened his door, he heard a familiar voice; "Monkey King?" It asked. The monkey looked at who it was, smiling a bit when he saw it was the scholar, "Good morning, Tang!" He said, trying to hold back his excitement as his tail wagged low to the ground. Tang only raised an eyebrow at the immortal monkey, "What are you doing awake? Usually you're the last one up." Monkey King paused for a second to think of an excuse. He opened his mouth to say something, but then- "Couldn't sleep?" "Uh.. Yeah. How could you tell?" The monkey tilted his head to the left. "Well, the bags under your eyes are one thing, not to mention your unkempt fur and slouchy posture.." He trailed off, rambling about how tired Sun looked. The Great Sage sighed and rolled his eyes, then go an idea. He smirked lightly, suddenly grabbing the scholar's arm and pulling him close, kissing him on the lips. Tang completely froze, his eyes wide and face as red as Xiaotian's headband. Once Wukong pulled away - which was admittedly longer than the monkey anticipated - He looked at Tang. He was breathing heavily while flustered and thoroughly confused all at the same time. "W-Wha- Why did you- What was-" Tang stammered, tripping over his words. "To get you to be quiet. Guess it worked, huh?~" Tang was just. Broken. Sun decided this was the perfect time to tell the scholar something. "..Tang, can I tell you something." "I-I- Uh- Sure..?" The Monkey took Tang's hands in his paws, gently holding them and looking into his amber eyes, "The way I feel when I'm with you.. Well, it can only be described by one sentence." "An-And that would be..?" The 5'7 man said shyly, his blush simmering down. "Please marry me." Sun blurted, "I love you, Tang." Tang froze yet again, just standing there. Processing. And blushing. A minute passes. Then another. Then another. The Monkey blinks a bit, then looks at the scholar with a confused and slightly worried expression, "Uh... Tang..?" "Wait wait wait," He started, "You- Am I dreaming? I'm not dreaming right?" "No, this is real." "That's... That's just what my head wants me to believe-" The monkey pinches him "OW! What was that-" "Oh." "Oh, my gods." "So?-" The monkey tilted his head again, feeling a bit discouraged. "This..... If-If I'm being honest, this is a dream come true..-" Tang nervously chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. Monkey King perked up, his tail shooting up and wagging gently, "Is that a yes? That you'll go out with me?" "I-I guess!-" Tang smiles back at him "That's great!" Sun Wukong wraps Tang in a hug, lifting him off his feet despite being shorter. He nuzzles into the other's chest. Tang yelps, then chuckles, gently rubbing his head, "My first order as your boyfriend is for you to get some sleep." "Only if I get to cuddle you!" "Deal!"
