Recommended Don’t Do’s at Walt Disney World
Don’t forget a times guide and map: It’s one of the first things that you walk past when you enter a park. It’s important to pick these resources up because the map will allow you to find bathrooms, rides, and restaurants. The times guide will allow you to plan your experience around your fastpasses by telling you when all of the shows in the park will happen throughout the day. Also the times guide has the times listing for character meet and greets, nighttime spectaculars, and parades. Even if you think of yourself as a veteran it might still be a good idea to grab these. Just because the parks are always changing.
Don’t forget about Holidays: That time right between Halloween and Thanksgiving you might think is dead, but it’s the opposite. During this time the Halloween Parties are coming to an end and the Christmas party is beginning. Meaning that guest attendance is high which can make the experience a little more stressful. Between the parks closing earlier to compensate for the parties and the endless lines it might be better if you avoid these times.
Don’t Spend too much for a Resort: The Grand Floridian is Walt Disney World’s most expensive and extravagant resort, but this is just a friendly reminder: your vacation won’t be terrible if you don’t stay there. Sure having a nice hotel can improve your vacation, but in reality if you enjoy your days at the parks to fullest when you come back to your resort you’ll be heading straight for bed not enjoying the scenery.
Don’t Spend all Day at Your Resort: The resort itself is a trap. It has a pool, arcade, and so much fun things to interact with. However, if you spend all of your time at the resort did you really go to Disney? Spending half a day at the resort is fine, but dedicating a whole day to just hanging around your resort is a waste of a day.
Don’t Eat During Peak Hours: If you think Breakfast is at 9:00am, Lunch is at noon, and Dinner is at 5:00pm then you’ll be disappointed. Everyone is thinking the same thing so in order to avoid the crazy food rushes eat on the off hours. By waiting till 7:00pm to eat dinner you can increase your chances of getting a reservation and decrease the overall wait time.
Don’t Forget the Little Things: It always feels like there’s 100 things to pack, but don’t forget the little things. Sunscreen is vital to any trip to Walt Disney World. If you forget it you can always buy some when you arrive, but just be aware that it’ll be hit with Disney inflation. The same goes for After sun care for when you get sun burnt. Also don’t forget that you’ll be walking for most of this vacation so band-aids and other necessities for blisters should also be on your list of “must haves”. Also depending on when you’ll be visiting Walt Disney World you might need to bring an umbrella or jackets!
Don’t Bring Bags and Strollers: As a general rule of thumb the less you bring into the park the faster it’ll be to get into the park. With security waiting for you when you enter you have to wait in line to get bag/stroller checked. Plus in the grand scheme of everything having a stroller becomes inconvenient because you always have to find stroller parking.
Don’t Forget to Get a Good Spot for the Parades/Nighttime Spectaculars: Most people start getting their seats for the parades about an hour before the parade starts. If you don’t want to wait that long just be sure that you have a general idea of where you want to stand and also a back up plan. Nothing is worse than the smallest member in your group missing out on the parade due to poor planning. As for the Nighttime Spectaculars they vary from park to park as well as the best places to see them. It’s important to be aware of your location in respect to trees and buildings that can block your view.
Don’t just Ride Outdoor Rides: Florida is known for being hot, humid, and muggy so doing outdoor rides after outdoor rides is not the best option. There are some indoor rides and long indoor cues. It’s recommended that you break up these outdoor rides with some indoor rides. This will allow you to stay in the parks for longer, help everyone remain cool, and decrease complaints about being too hot.
Don’t Skip Out on Water: Since Florida is so hot you lose your fluids quickly through sweating. Of course you can purchase water at any of the outdoor stands that are scattered around the park, or you can use the water fountains. However, you can get a free cup of water or just a cup or ice just by stopping by a place that has fountain drinks. All of the parks follow this same rule and there is no limit to how many you can have. Stay safe and stay hydrated!
