Dude please let me know if I'm missing something about this The Fine Young Capitalist competition + Zoe Quinn + 4chan thing. How it sounds to me is, they approached Zoe about a competition to empower female game dev's and she was like but I'd make no money off of it and I'm already a game dev, not keen. So then they were like fuckit let's get the least skilled females available who are not game dev's and hold their hands through the game making process and basically soar over all the existing women in the industry to "empower" fans who weren't doing it/studying it/starting out anyway but had an idea. So then they made it empowering women who aren't in the games industry and have no games related skills to get games made for them by people who are already in the industry, stuck an intro on their videos of a chick doing her makeup while shit like EMPOWERED and RESPECTED floats around her and then started making videos about female game devs for 4chan. Oh and then there's 4chans involvement, supporting a thing for women with all of their $$ to spite a woman who mentioned the word Feminist and to thwart the horrid SJW's bitching who I haven't seen except one chick on Twitter with a Feminist Frequency icon (because proving to women that you're better at defining the terms of equality and celebrating their achievements than they are is what it's all about bros, equality is a competition!). So now we have 5 pretty rad looking games which are being packaged for the consumption of 4chan who's donating their money to a Colon Cancer charity to "Chemo the butthurt". I mean like fuck once whatever happens to their indiegogo is over I'm probably gonna buy the game I voted for and I'm horribly jealous because I'd love to be able to get talented peeps to make my crazy ideas a reality involving no skill from me just because I was born with a vagina therefore I must urgently need a paternalistic hand up. Like they started out with good intentions but due to the Capitalist nature of their product (oddly enough) they're now answering directly to what 4chan says is women's empowerment because they're receiving lots of money from them. Have I got the wrong end of the stick, do I have a piece of the story missing, or is this disaster flowing out how it looks on paper? Also I'm probably gonna buy a few of those games they made they look rad as fuck, like go them.
Yo I just finished this super amazing book about early industrialization in France called the Path Not Taken which largely attacks the theory of laissez faire driven industrialization it's really good and like 10 bucks on amazon
