After Mt Elbrus, we travelled to Saint Petersburg on August 1, to make our way home. I had a whole afternoon to explore the city and some sights. We rode the tram up to the base of our destination , realized our toilet hang in the air, but we had #elbrus on our sight. Then we took day acclimatization hikes up the mountain, and Carole and Vern Tejas ensured we knew how to self arrest, and we practiced crevasse rescue. They also thought us (at least me) how to effectively pressure breath. On #summit day we took one step at a time. More pics to come... we had a professional photographer with us.... I am an only child, and therefore I learned to amuse myself. I learned to have imaginary friends, play alone... and now I train alone. But today I couldn’t resist being silly on the little bit of snow left. I went out to train pulling my sled, only with 28 pounds on it, ( I was wearing my 12 pound weight vest as well though)... a beautiful sunny day, snow... On my way back home, after training in Quebec , mountaineering skills with boots and crampons, snow and cold. I also did one day of crevasse rescue, but I couldn’t take a pic... I needed my hands free to get myself out the the ‘hole’. Do I look tired?
