"I feel around for the parachute and slide my fingers inside until they close around the pearl. I sit back on my bed cross-legged and find myself rubbing the smooth iridescent surface of the pearl back and forth against my lips. For some reason, it’s soothing. A cool kiss from the giver himself." - "Mockingjay" p. 33
Absolutely gobsmacked to have received this gorgeous and devastating piece of art as a birthday gift from my dear @peaonfire 🥹🥹
Pea is an incredible artist and a pillar of the Everlark community and I try to tell her that all the time. I hope she gets even more deserved praise for this stunning beauty!!
It’s too warm for the sleeping bag now. I smooth it out on the cave floor and lie down, one hand on my loaded bow in case I have to shoot at a moment’s notice. Peeta sits beside me, leaning against the wall, his bad leg stretched out before him, his eyes trained on the world outside. “Go to sleep,” he says softly. His hand brushes the loose strands of my hair off my forehead. Unlike the staged kisses and caresses so far, this gesture seems natural and comforting. I don’t want him to stop and he doesn’t. He’s still stroking my hair when I fall asleep.
@peaonfire drew this beautiful scene for my birthday of everlark in the cave. 🥹 All these years later, I still find something new to gush over in The Hunger Games. The tenderness of the cave is what got me hooked on their relationship when I was a teenager, and here I am, so many years later, still just as in love with them.
Thank you so much Pea 🧡💚 I just love how relaxed Katniss looks here. And, Peeta's look of awe as he holds the girl he loves. <3
12. You're going to a concert and you have a spare ticket! Which caracter are you inviting to come along? And where are you going?
My answer for who I’m going with is somewhat more practically minded than about imagining a concert but it’s definitely Peeta because something we have in common is disabilities related to our legs and walking but also an okay level of ability to walk with assistive devices it so I feel like we’d be looking for a similar experience in terms of comfort. (He’s probably better than me but that’s my disability buddy idc.)
I feel like I’m gonna take him to like one of my queer girl concerts like muna or girl in red or fletcher or Chappell or something. I feel like Peeta vibes with lesbians for some reason. 😭
🐑Katniss Everdeen/Peeta Mellark, friends to lovers, mutual pining, idiots in love, suprprising amounts of potatoes
When Prim uses her allowance to register Katniss for the Miss Potato Blossom Pageant, she leaves her with little choice but to participate. Good thing her best friend, Peeta, agrees to help her every step of the way!
Will she be crowned Miss Potato Blossom Queen or will she finally go for what she really wants?
@thesunpersists and I discovered the Miss Maine Potato Queen while reading Carrie
standing shoulder to shoulder with Terri Smith (Miss Potato Blossom of 1975)
We’ve gone back through our archive to find photos and articles to find some of the most amusing and, in some cases, old-fashioned examples
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
hugely unpopular take not just on Finnick but on victim survivors in general and how they’re “supposed” to react but I do not think Finnick is someone who wants to kill his abusers. I do not even know if he wants to harm them. I think he wants to be away from them and distance himself and forget about it all and does not have the energy to focus on revenge, let alone violent retribution. if he lived, would he advocate for leniency in punishment for some of them? I almost think he might.
note. in my fic Panacea Finnick does directly say he wants them (in this case the federal government) to kill Snow. however, this is an AU and I think that’s actually one of the most striking differences I see in his character in that scenario. happy to talk more about why I included that line and that distinction.
🍦 ⇢ name three good things about a character you hate
I don’t actually hate him but we’ll say I dislike and pity him on principle - Mr. Mellark. I like that he makes that promise to look after Prim, I think that’s really big and generous of him. I like that he seems to try and be gentle and kind with Katniss. I also like that he trades with Gale and seems to give him good deals, I think that shows his strength of character in at least one way.
I am from Germany, one of the main players of Potato Europe. And within Germany there are... shall we say... varying opinions on what does or doesn't belong in a potato salad. So here I am, about to teach you the ONE TRUE WAY!
Bavarian potato salad with oil and vinegar, the way my grandmother taught me.
If you put mayo in this potato salad the ghosts of wronged potatoes will haunt you forever!
Directions
Please know I measure everything with my heart, but these are the ingredients and quantities my grandma taught me:
1kg potatoes (hard boiling, not soft boiling!)
2 onions (I use white, and usually just one)
200ml vegetable stock
3 Tbsp white wine vinegar + extra to taste
3 Tbsp neural oil (I prefer Sunflower... no pun intended)
mustard to taste (medium hot, not sweet mustard or smth like that)
chives to taste
sliced cucumber or radishes etc. as toppings (optional)
- Boil, your potatoes, peel and all, in salted water. Make sure all the potatoes are just about covered. Boil until they are tender (I stab mine with a fork to check). Then drain them.
- This is when I start my stock. Chop your onions into cubes, add them to a small pot with the veggie stock and the vinegar and let them simmer for about five minutes.
- In the meantime I start peeling the potatoes. They will be hot at first, so I like to stab and hold them with a fork so I don't burn myself.
- Chop the peeled potatoes and add them to a bowl, then add your stock. Pro tip: use a large bowl and swirl the mixture until the still hot, starchy potatoes absorbe the liquid, that way the potatoes don't fall apart so much and you still get that nice juicy consistency!
- Now add oil, mustard, more vinegar (sometimes I use balsamic vinegar for some more depth of flavour), salt, and pepper to taste!
- Top with chives, and if you'd like, radishes and or cucumber.
You can enjoy this hot, cold, on its own, or as a side to anything you fancy (I like to have mine with a pretzel!)"
