I started watching the first episode and PEARL LIERALLY MADE RUBY AND SAPPHIRE FIGHT ABOUT HERSELF! IT HASN’T EVEN BEEN 5 MINUTES!

i literally hate pearl so freaking much and i know the perception is that "everyone hates pearl" but honestly i cant find anyone who doesnt have great things to say about her. if someone created a hybrid of her and vriska it might actually kill me

Pearl hate

Here's something I been needing to get out of my system for quite a while now

Pearl is one of the characters in SU who gets most hate (besides Lapis Jasper and maybe Bismuth)

People say that she doesn't care about steven

(which is clearly fake since she is the closest to a "stereotypical" mother figure in the show)

She used to overprotect Steven in every sense of the world

She didn't let him do dangerous things

She invalidated his point of view because she wanted to think she knew everything and could protect him from anything

As the series progressed it's clear that she loved Rose to an obsessive point because of the world of possibilities Rose showed her

She never realized that Rose didn't feel the same way (well maybe Rose did feel something or gave her some kind of sign that made her assume that Rose did like her back)

Or maybe they never touched the issue at all (which is weird since the others knew kind of)

And that love was the one who gave her a motive to protect earth

Yeah she resented Greg (because she thought she had something with Rose or had a possibility) and sensed him as competition

Then she resented him more because of the choice Rose made because in her mind everything was good as it was and she didn't know the motive Rose had to take that choise

No, she didn't try to kill Steven since we don't even know what would happen if he poofed or the gem we're retired of his body

Neither Garnet, Amethyst or Pearl knew exactly what Steven was

She didn't know if that would kill Steven or not

But she cared enough to stop herself and respect Rose's desicions

And she did grow attached to Steven even though he was a reminder of everything she lost

She tried to treat Steven as she treated rose

She tried to protect him at all cost as she would do with Rose when they were in danger

Because she loved rose and she didn't really have a lot of respect for herself

But she was free and she had Rose to thank for that

She teached Connie to sword fight the same way she did but she tried to make Connie fight for the same reason she was fighting for in the first place

To protect Rose from everything putting her life and needs away to protect her

Lowering herself

Steven teached her that he didn't want anyone to sacrifice for him

He didn't want Pearl to get hurt for him

He didn't want Connie to sacrifice for him

She started to understand

But she was still empty and she needed something she couldn't feel for herself, love.

That's why she tricked Garnet into fusing she wanted a taste of the love Ruby and Sapphire had

But when the situation reached a critical point she understood that she was never going to fill that hole unless she started caring a little more for herself and giving her life meaning

She did that's why she was able to stand up against peridot's views because now she saw her qualities and knew she wasn't just a pearl

But she was special because of who she is

She forgave Greg even if it was with Stevens intervencion

She even have another chance to meeting people with mistery girl

And maybe this season she will touch a part of herself that makes her uncomfortable

Her past

She doesn't feel the same way she did before and maybe that's why it will be easier to talk about

(excluding PD death which is still a sensible topic...because it conflicted with the way she saw rose)

I think she is deeply flawled but she has overcome most of her worse flaws and she has become a better character and she doesn't deserve the hate she gets from everyone

If things continue the way they are I may make one of these for Steven)

Pearl Hate

My actual, honest opinion about Off The Hook: I love both of Marina and Pearls designs, where Pearl's confident, punk rockish aesthetic wonderfully compliments Marina's smooth, calm, techno vibe. They are honestly great to watch and are awesome. My spiteful opinion, designed to piss off people who over dramatically hate on Pearl: Pearl is perfect in every way, and Marina is terrible. If you like her, it's cause you're a creepy, waifu-body pillow owning anime nerd who confuses individual aesthetic preferences for objective facts about design. Shut up and stay in your lane, turbo-nerd.

Ok so i know many people have already said this but imma say it again cause im feeling salty. Why did they make pearl the one whos good at everything and white and skinny? Shes a great singer, dancer, builder, fighter, artist, and is painted as sophisticated and intelligent (arguably the most out of all the cgs), and on top of that, shes the femme, white, skinny one. And she never seems to fully understand the consequences of her actions or apologise. Its like the crewniverse wanted to make her a flawless, perfect being who has the right to be immeduatly forgiven, no questions asked, as soon as she starts crying (in a manipulative as shit way also) about how “worthless” and gay she is for rose. It just pisses me off so much that shes pretty much painted as perfect in every way and gets so much more screen time and attention than any of the other gems (who really deserve it more than pearl, lets be honest here). Anyway sorry for the crappy phrasing im just angry

I had a dream the SU crew just gave up under all the crit and the show became yalls, and the first thing you did was draw up story boards on pushing Pearl off a cliff onto spiky rocks. Just thought you guys should know that.

Quick "Three Gems and a Baby" scene rewrite

[Steven is bundled up in swaddling clothes and is with the gems and Greg in the van]

Pearl: Rose. I know you're in there. I can let you out... [reaches for Steven's gem]

[Pearl pulls off his gemstone.]

Rose: [Starts glowing and reforms]

Pearl: Rose!

Rose: [Looks around at Steven's corpse and Greg, who looks a lot older than she last saw him] Pearl...

Pearl: I- you're

Rose: PEARL WHAT THE FUCK YOU KILLED MY CHILD

Pearl: I thought this was what you wanted...?

Rose: HELL NO WHY DO YOU THINK I GAVE UP MY FORM FOR THIS CHILD? I WANTED THIS AND I DIED FOR THIS AND YOU KILLED MY SON WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING

Pearl: I'm-

Rose: AND NOW GREG HAS PASSED OUT! WHY WOULD I WANT THIS?! GET OUT OF THE VAN
