Braves claim reliever LHP Pedro Beato on waivers. The Braves will announce who will be sent down today or tomorrow before the Nationals game at 1:05. Beato is 4-2 with a 4.55 ERA in 81 career appearances in parts of three seasons with the Mets and Red Soxs. In Spring Training, Beato posted a 3.00 ERA. LHP Ryan Buchter will most likely be sent back to Triple A.
Since this season's a joke anyway ...

Mets = Oliver Perez?
The 2011 New York Mets are eerily similar to the 2009 Oliver Perez. Let's take a stroll down memory lane to 2009. In 2009 Oliver Perez had a pitiful 6.82 ERA, but if anyone remembers he was absolutely filthy most games before the fifth or sixth inning and then would get rocked after that which rose his ERA greatly. This is what seems to be happening to all of the Mets starters. They look great for the first four, or five innings, and then get absolutely rocked after those innings. It doesn't help matters that the Mets bullpen, with the exception of Pedro Beato and Jason Isrighhausen, have been terrible. The sad part is the for the first time in around two years the Mets are actually scoring a good amount of runs, it just so happens that the Mets starters give up more.
The thing is that the Mets have talent, and a lot of it. They're not a bad team, and I feel they'll actually be relevant in September, but as of right now, they can't do anything right it seems. It's not time to panic, last time i checked they still have 146 games left so it's not a big deal that they're struggling in April. They Still have Jason Bay coming back this week and hopefully a healthy Johan Santana in Late June or early July. There's still many months of baseball left so chill out, relax and enjoy the season.
