Re-remembering my love and passion every few years for a book series where the fandom is so incredibly stagnant and niche is so painful actually. I need to scream about it from the rooftops but no one I know even understands what I'm shouting (T^T)

it's simple really, i read Pellinor as a preteen, and now I'm a socialist. and I'm even gay.
i wish the pellinor books were more popular for a cvs receipt length of reasons, one of them being the concept of scrying. for my ffxiv mutuals scrying is kind of like the echo, except it's willed (must be mutually consenting or it doesn't work) and can be done both ways.
as an example, a character cadvan once submitted himself to being scried by another character, dernhil, to verify he had not been corrupted by the villain. cadvan's memories and private thoughts became known to dernhil and he could feel the emotions and physical sensations as though they were happening to him, all at once. it's very intense and regarded as being more intimate than sex.
i just find this to be a very fun tool for whumping and hurt/comforting and drama and i want it and pellinor's magic system in general to exist in AUs so badllyyyy
