Sickly Sweet
You cough, feeling your chest burn as you do, but you're sure to do it quietly, ladylike and delicately. You are a princess, after all, and you cannot let this get the better of you. You trudge down the road, holding your parasol open to keep the bright lights of the city off of your face, and you walk with purpose. At your side is a bag of medication, given recently with the proper prescriptions, to help control the illness that's invaded you. You shouldn't be walking around by yourself, especially being as sick as you are, and you know this, but you couldn't risk worrying Didani with your condition. You know how he can get.
Little Mermaid AU Idea
Pemcie, a princess of the merpeople fascinated by human stories and lore, comes to the surface as a storm hits a nobleman's ship. Lightning strikes the sails, the ship catches fire in a roaring blaze as people scramble to evacuate. Pemcie watches in horror as the vessel crumbles and sinks, and sees a body in the waves. She swims with all her might, grabbing a hold of the sailor and propping him on driftwood as she pushes him to land. He, the sole survivor, turns out to be not the nobleman, but one of his servants. His tattered clothes mark him as a common man, and she sighs softly, but watches as he wakes. The man, startled by her appearance, bolts upright and coughs up seawater as Pemcie explains what had happened. The man introduces himself as Didani, and Pemcie asks him if he would meet her the following evening on the beach. He agrees, and she returns to her home under the waves. As the days pass, they spend more time together, Didani telling her human fairy tales and stories of great men fighting for good. She, enthralled by his stories and culture, finds herself falling in love for this man. This common man, treated as a slave for years, becomes the center of her world. Then, one day, she asks him to come home with her, for she had made a deal with a witch to grant him a tail and a new life within her kingdom. She, having sold her entire being to be with him, finds her offer turned down by this man. Didani explains why he turned her down: He could not bear to see her in servitude for his sake, for he found himself loving her as much as she loved him. And so, this unlikely couple would spend their days upon the beach where they had met, talking and making the most of their time together. They had made their own paradise.
>> You sigh, having fallen in the tub. It's a miracle that you kept your mechanical legs out of the water, however that leaves you stuck. You actually start to panic, breathing fine under the water, but you hate the feeling of being submerged. Maybe staying landlocked was a good idea. What kind of seadweller is afraid of water?
Drowning a Fish
>> You take a deep breath and look at your tub, hands clenched tightly. You feel as though your life is tumbling downward, as evidenced by the attack. Didani would be fine without you. Or, so you've convinced yourself. You've been out of water for so long, you're willing to test if you can drown. You kneel over the side and plunge your head under, attempting to physically inhale water through your nose and mouth, not your gills. You grip the sides of the tub, scared of the foreign feeling of being submerged. God help you.
Broken and Bloodied
>> You groan, each breath labored. You're a princess. This shouldn't have happened to you! You're a princess! You cough and sputter and hope Didani comes back soon. You cry and mutter a soft prayer. You don't want to die here. You don't want to die alone.
Musical Melancholy
>> You traipse around, the only sound you can hear being the whir of your mechanical legs. You smile wide and enter the park, looking around. Yes, you think, simply a perfect place to play. You take a moment to take in the environment.
Broken Gills
>> You cough and hack into your hand, pulling away a palm splattered with purple flecks. Oh no. This isn't good. You're wracked with pain, and yet you continue to drag yourself hive. Your robotic legs feel like they weigh tons. You wiggle your fin, and it somehow gives you some sense of accomplishment. You're still alive. And you can make it. You must see your special one again! You simply must! With a look of steely determination, you trudge forward, arm wrapped around your own torso and you grip your open wound tighter. God, it hurts. You feel streams of blood trickle from between your fingers, and your vision swims. No, no. You can't give up. You'll never give up.
