Bwoop bwoop health talk warning
I recently got some activity on my posts in the Achalasia tag, and re-reading my old posts about it was sort of surreal. Between being on Omeprazole, which more or less makes my symptoms non-existent, and being diagnosed with Pemphigus, which I'm still trying to work out the medication for so my symptoms are still affecting my daily life, I kind of forgot about even having Achalasia?
Sorry, people who followed me hoping for posts about life with Achalasia, especially those with worse cases who needed surgery and whose lives are still controlled by it. But hey, fun fact: my Pemphigus symptoms ALSO affect my ability to eat and swallow, so there's some overlap in the experience!
Update: Turns out the Pemphigus tag has a lot of spammy posts from herbal drug companies, as well as some very unsettling photos. I am appreciating the fact that my lesions are entirely internal, which is not the case for many people. Weight gain and breakouts from my medication have taken enough of a toll on my self-esteem and confidence as it is >_<
Sometimes it feels weird to talk about health stuff online, because “nobody wants to hear that,” but people being willing to talk about this stuff has made me feel less alone AND shown me that even though things seem bleak, there are people who have it worse.
