Advent Challenge - Day 8

I'm already half asleep, but never mind now, I've finally finished day 8, so of course I want to share it! <__< To be honest, I have no idea whether what I'm doing here is in the spirit of the inventor or has anything to do with Lettering at all, but it's definitely fun. A little change of pace. This time I've added a fine, small H3 pencil. I picked out a motif for the inauguration that definitely needed a bit more preliminary drawing. The result is of course inspired by one of my favorite games, Frostpunk. I thought it was a really cool idea to just somehow add THE motto with the generator as a background.

Day 5 ....uhm, I hope I've used the critter quite correctly here ^^; In the little demo movie that PenStore has linked for each day, the pen brush is pink, while this one has no color and seems to be just for blurring. I guess the color is random and every copy of the adventcalendar has something different? Anyway, I took the opportunity to try out whether you can just apply normal watercolor paint and blur with it. It turns out, yup, it works perfectly. I just hope I didn't kill the pencil in the process. I like these washed-out Patel tones that were created. It's a nice contrast to the bright colors I usually create with my standard Ecoline watercolor pen. I think this softer color scheme is a perfect match for our furry friend here. Yup, it's Ralsei . I also wanted to add a bit more Deltarune here ;)

Advent Challenge - Day 18

And with the 18 we also conclude the Sketching section. Due to the subtle trouble with getting the pastel pencils to draw, it was a special challenge to draw a picture with all the sketching utensils together. This time I decided to put the pastel pencils on before I started on the outlines and shading with charcoal. To be fair, that worked a lot better. After having Carl in the Advent Challenge twice now, this time it's Leliana's turn as a motif, as her hair also went really well with the pastel tones - and because I was still missing Nightingales Eyes in the background music ;) One of the best pieces from the soundtrack in my opinion <33

Advent Challenge - Day 15

At 15 we have a new Paper Stump - well, as you've already seen, I already have a few of them flying around here, but one more can't hurt now and I have to say it feels good in the hand. :) Of course, a portrait of someone with darker skin is a great way to bring the piece into focus. In other words, I finally have the excuse I've been waiting for to include Dorian in this little portrait ensemble. I have to say, he's rarely done so well for me - and Dorian is one of those characters/people where my perfectionism is actually merciless. 😌

Day 12 and with another new drawing pen - whose lead is a little thicker than I would have expected at first glance - we come to the end of the #Lettering part of the calendar.

As with the watercolors before, the expectation here was that all the new supplies should be used together on one picture. And after I hadn't done anything with #DragonAge in this section, I ended up with a kind of cover for the #wickedeyeswickedhearts mission. My personal favorite mission from the main game. Next to the usual dungeon crawlers, it's somehow completely out of the ordinary with this Orlesian intrigue gameplay. 😎 Btw, I'm impressed with how much this paper has held up for being far thinner than the paper I usually use. With the exception of the last two, where I've went rather over the top in terms of color 😜 - it hardly bled through at all. Huh, well colour me impressed :D *bdmtzz*

The 3rd day had a small but nice waterbrush behind the door. And after I finally took the time to watch #ahauntinginvenice yesterday, the good old #herculepoirot ended up on my paper :) I roughly based the shape and haircut on Albert Finney, but added my own touch.

Advent Challenge - Day 2

Day 2 brings us a small but fine blue #watercolor pencil. It's actually something I haven't had much experience with yet (I usually only have watercolor pans), but it was fun to play around with. Let's see if any more of these come out of the #adventcalendar. Otherwise I might get me a few more. I can well imagine that this one will be even more fun with more color choices. In this case, I only helped myself out with the background with good old Schmincke. Apart from that (and the outlines :P) I actually only used the one pencil.

Advent Challenge - Day 1

@bloodpixielexie got me an #art #adventcalendar from #PenStore for this December. That means each door brings a piece of #artsupply (and it looks like they are sorted thematically. Doors 1-6 bring watercolor stuff etc) So I thought I'd make a little challenge out of it and try to draw a picture with the contents of each door. Door 1 simply had a pad of #watercolor paper. Not the absolute ultimate in high quality, but you can still work quite well with it. I chose a portrait of my version of #Underlust #Chara as the motif. Pretty happy with it. I think I really nailed her look this time <33
