Watchful Eyes

A Leopard (Panthera pardus) watching the photographer silently from behind its hideout in the Singapore Zoo. The image was converted to monochrome in post. Output from the fifteen-year old APSC sensor appeared a bit noisy at the ISO of 3200.

Alstroemeria or Peruvian Lily blooming in the Flower Dome.

This scene won’t need the depth-of-field afforded by the aperture of f/11 but the lens performed best at this aperture. However, this meant having to push up the ISO to 1600 in order to get a decent shutter speed. The image quality at this ISO seemed good enough though.

A Common Leopard (Phalanta phalantha) drinking from a weed that looks like the Singapore Daisy along the rail corridor trail.

This was taken with an old Adaptall mount manual focus 90mm macro lens.

Red Mums in the Garden

Chrysanthemum morifolium making an impact in the Gardens by the Bay.

Coming from a 16-year old sensor, the contrast and colours produced at ISO3200 were surprisingly decent and better than expected. This was captured in raw though and converted into jpeg without tweaking the colours.

A Weaver's Curiosity

A Green Weaver Ant (Oecophylla smaragdina) looking at the photographer in the midst of examining a little sticky spot of substance on a wooden handrail in the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. Not sure if it knew but one of its fellows had gotten stuck with a similar substance and ended up as the dinner of some pseudoscorpions.

This was taken with an old macro lens with the kit mounted on a tripod.
