A Reflection of Its Past

Before its recent conversion into a posh hotel, this was apparently the Old War Office Building (also known as The OWO) located on Whitehall near Westminster.

The shutter speed was a mere 1/13 second and I didn't realize it at the time. Thankfully, it came out sharp.

Going Round the Mulberry Bush

Caught this Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker (Dicaeum cruentatum) going round the Australian Mulberry picking fruits at random. Missed him with berries in his mouth and could only watch him fly off after this shot.

This was taken with the camera lowered to the level of the flowers.

This was underexposed by a stop to get the colour come out richer.

The Light at the End of the Tunnel

This Blue Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates tinctorius 'azureus') in Reptopia in the Singapore Zoo was apparently trying to get near the spotlight to get some heat in its tank. It was pouring outside.

This capture was under-exposed by 3 stops to get the shutter speed up and also to keep highlights.

A Begonia's Happy Hour

A just-showered begonia greeting visitors at the entrance of the conservatory.

This could only be photographed the nearest at 1m (or 3.3 feet) away but, happily, the available 400mm crop allowed this macro image.

The Sleepy King

The male Lion (Panthera leo) in sleepy mode after a good lunch in the Singapore Zoo. This was taken against dark undergrowth with the exposure biased 2 stops darker to leverage on the slightly back-lighting condition.
