ThamePo Heart That Skips a Beat | Ep.13 FINALE
TUI CHAYATORN & FAH YONGWAREE as PEPPER & GAM in THAMEPO: HEART THAT SKIPS A BEAT (2024) | EP. 6
bonus:
Thame dates Po, Pepper dates Gam, Jun and Dylan date, Nano dates Ice. It's perfect. MARS can truly be the most romantic idol group of all time.
Things I LOVED in the ThamePo finale
● the concept for the concert + the outfits
● Baifern's (although quick) redemption, very meta
● when Nano says 'we're going to go play tag now' and then they're literally running away from the stage guys. Running away from the industry standards, from people trying to catch and cage them. AND THEN. Coming back on their own terms (CINEMA.)
● the only way idols can find happiness (+ a healthy romantic relationship) is literally out of the industry. Like you have to get out.
● the way Thame was looking at Po when he recognised him under the stage (William when I catch you...)
● a new song!!
● PEPPERGAM
● JUNDYLAN omg???
● The commentary on success ≠ happiness
● the open mouth kisses and lip pulls in the last scene omg??
I don't think that any episode of any series has made me hate toxic Idol fandoms as much as Episode 10 of Thame Po. You do not own people because they entertain you. I'm so sad right now to know this is a reality for so many Idols.
As a general audience with ThamePo, we’re supposed to be livid right now. That’s part of the point. We’re supposed to be upset and find it unfair.
Because we see Thame and Pepper as people who deserve more than hiding and living with the possibility of being sold out to the highest bidder, with having to live in secrecy.
The commentary on fans and fan behavior and the expectations set by the Korean idol market that take over a good deal of the Asian market, and let us be honest the Western fan market feelings of ownership of product rather than people, is very important to dissect and to ask an audience to engage with. To humanize the struggle and the heartbreak and get fans to believe and root for and feel the tragedy that is honestly part of the lived experiences of actors and artists is really, really valuable.
Anyway…I’m mad but I see it not as a failure but part of the design. I’m supposed to be heartbroken right along side them and angry that this is a way that people are forced to operate.
