*slides into the Charles Dickens discourse* I just want to say, in good old Chuck Dicky's defense, that A Tale of Two Cities reads much like a super-concise version of Les Mis. (AToTC is the only Charles Dickens book I've ever been able to get through, but it's also one of my favorite books ever.) When we're talking about excessive wordiness, Charles Dickens is a flagrant offender, but he doesn't hold a candle to Victor Hugo.
