EVERY YEAR AFTER 01.01, Every Summer After
the thing that got me the most on my first read of every summer after wasn't the twist with percy and charlie; it was that sam knew that whole time. he knew, and he still wanted to be with her. I remember just being floored. percy hated herself and beat herself up for what she did for twelve years, and she returned to barry's bay expecting charlie and sam to hate her too, but they don't. they're kind to her. sam is kind to her, and he still loves her. and HE KNEW. that makes it hit so much harder.
he had twelve years to process everything that went wrong in their relationship, come to terms with the fact that they were both young and full of insecurities and handled things poorly, and forgive her for what she did. it's what makes the ending of the story believable. like, these characters are older, they've learned from their past, there's been time and space for empathy and forgiveness, which are the core themes of the book.
and the show destroyed all of that in ways i'm struggling to understand beyond wanting to add needless drama and stretch out the story.
Olá! Poderia fazer headers do livro every summer after com essas cores, por favor?
