Man. Zanka looking just as scared at the mere mention of his sister as he did during his whole second fight w jabber (where he was literally fighting for his life) is like. Damn. Damn. She really scares the shit out of him huh.

Hes like oh fighting to survive against an unhinged murderous freak with giant poisonous claws? Thats nothing compared to ✨ FAMILIAL ABUSE ✨ apparently and i knowwww he WAS abused, both in how they "trained" him (canonically shooting at him to make him dodge bullets?????) and i think in how the treated him in general, i think its p clear a large part of his lack of self esteem is likely from how his own family spoke to/about him ...

He worked incredibly hard to try to live up to their expectations and it was never enough, even if just about everyone else thought he was a genius ... Hyo showing up was just the final straw that almost made him completely give up. Like that doesnt happen overnight, u dont just fail once and decide to end it, not even if you're a perfectionist. Why do you THINK he worked so hard even before then???

Cus he says himself, his sister is a genius, and her (and the rest of the family) set the standard... And he couldnt meet their expectations, he wasn't a natural like his sister, he had to work hard, and he desperately wanted to be good enough, for his family AND so that none of the others around him "realized" he was a "fraud", he worked so hard that all his effort made his skill LOOK effortless to everyone else... Until another "real genius" showed up and beat him, ruining the perfect mask he had created...

And the combination of never being enough for his family, and having his "illusion" shattered by hyo, worked in tandem to crush his self esteem to the point where now, he doesnt even see the fact that he's probably better than like 99% of people, he isnt enough TO HIMSELF even tho everyone else who sees him knows EXACTLY how impressive he is, ESPECIALLY if he truly is just an "average joe", the fights he's lost so far are literally against problems one of the top 5 strongest characters in the series who wins by just NICKING YOU w his weapon once. U literally can't get hit EVEN A LITTLE, the fact that he lasted that long in that fight is actually incredibly impressive.

And tbh, i do think he is holding himself back subconsciously, his main driving goal is to get stronger, be powerful enough that he can surpass the "natual talents" he feels so inferior to, but i think his lack of self esteem are a bit of a mental block for him too ... Like, he IS incredibly strong, he's beat every other character or trash beast hes every gone against except jabber, hyo, and we can assume, his family. Despite being a cleaner he's still very good at fighting other people (likely from his days training for the hell guard) and he can take down huge trash beasts by himself. He's one-shot almost every opponent he's come across. Enjin says he's the BEST the cleaners have at controlling his instrument (so we can assume he has more control than he does power, vut hes not lacking in power either, his apecial techniques just aren't as flashy as some)

Idk man like i genuinely dont WANT him to get over this internal issue he has and have a sudden power up cus that would feel like a cop-out for all the effort hes had to put in, if that makes sense, but i do feel its probably pretty likely given vital instruments and their power being a manifestation of a piece of their SOULS, so like... If you aren't accepting yourself fully, if you arent living your truth, that might hold back the flow, so to speak...

But i dont want it to be like "ohhh he was actually Gifted all along he just was repressed" i want it to be like "all his hard work could never FULLY manifest itself as long as he believed he was lesser or refused to see his own skill" if that mKes sense....

Idk. He's been absolutely KILLIN IT this arc tho not only has he been fighting extremely well, but hes been COOL AS SHIT the whole time and i am SO proud of him. He's getting his groove back baby!!!!!!! Thats my BOY!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

obviously anthea and concordia care about N a lot but do you guys think either or both have any misplaced resentment toward N for what they went through as kids that they try to ignore because they know it's wrong

so i am actually a western girlie I have to admit (western pleasure is MY shit) but the SSO western saddle is... Rough. It was very small originally (in these screenshots I have already begun editing it to make it more proportional but it was like 50% smaller than this) because to my understanding SSO uses the same animations for english and western tack, meaning the western stirrups need to be the same length as the stirrups on the english saddle.... Meaning the fenders were abysmally small to allow that 😔 But! I am working to make it more proportional to the Sims 4 horse by making everything bigger. This isn't a final edit of the mesh but it's as much progress as I got done today!

Additionally at popular request we're working on porting the Iberian saddle as well for our baroque and medieval enthusiasts. The dressage and jumping saddles are at the rigging stage at this point, with dressage further along but I'm not personally satisfied with the weighs yet as I don't want the saddle to deform like crazy in animations/when making poses, so they'll be poked and prodded further. Once the weighting is as good as it'll get I just have to make all the swatch variations and we'll be good for a release 😏
