Liquid, gloopy, always red

you dripped on crisp white

sheets of my bed

illuminated by morning light

trained, I have been

to dread you terribly

to feel dirty, despite feeling cyclically clean

cleansed, I crave the familiarity

of your monthly visit

wondrous and innately exquisite

to you I am eternally trusting

to your cycle, constant - without falter

Title: Star Speckled Flood... This is the first piece I shared to this #artaccount back in March, 2020. Because of this, it feels ritualistic to have sold it and to be saying goodbye. This piece celebrates the female cycle. I drew it in a time when I was learning about my cycle and what my body goes through in order to produce an egg each month. The book that led to a lot of body healing for me, is called 'Period Power' by @_maisiehill_.
