The words are aggressive and acidic, with an intensity that almost burns on impact. But in a sense, it’s a good sign. The man is cornered. Not only physically, but mentally, as well.

These are the arguments of someone desperately trying to make their point. Not to be taken personally.

Although the grade school comment does sting a little. Izuku isn’t that much smaller than other kids his age.

“Not everyone is born equal, that’s something I know pretty well; actually.” Finger remains on crossbow trigger, watching movement carefully; prepared for the ‘villain’ to lash out. But he keeps his voice as steady as possible, away from fear, away from anger.

“But...no one is born bad. People make choices. Things that hurt or help. If you want the world to be a better place, make it that way. Choose to help.”

“This world is cruel...but there are people who make it less so.”

Sometimes small things, keeping you from tripping outside of an exam. Offering a reassuring smile in time of crisis. Sometimes larger, acceptance of an outsider. Stopping someone from doing something insanely stupid.

Kind of like what was being done now, crossbow finally lowered; hitched to belt. Nerves causing body to shake without permission, but hands raised in surrender.

“So, this is my choice. I’m not going to fight you anymore, I want to help you; if I can”
