Recently finished this commissioned little piece for someone who wanted an illustration of this bizarre little Bible story: Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor had respect for people. In that city there was a widow who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’ For a while he refused; but later he said to himself, ‘Though I have no fear of God and no respect for anyone, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will grant her justice, so that she may not wear me out by continually coming.’”

Like most of my reflections on Biblical passages it’s absurdly literal.

7 WAYS TO LOVE: #6 FAIRNESS

This Sunday, October 11:  11:00 a.m. @ Bainbridge Ave.& E. 199th St. 

Jesus tells a story about a judge who neither feared God nor had respect for people (Luke 18:2).  

Sound familiar? Of course it does. It could be a landlord, a public official, a business corporation, bank, police officer, bill collector, boss or any number of other people in a position of power that can make your life miserable.  

Yet there was a widow who kept coming to him saying, "Grant me justice!"

Widows in that day were extremely vulnerable. But this widow was on a mission to get justice, and she gets it in the end.  

What will it take to find fairness in this world?

"I will grant her justice, so that she may not wear me out by continually coming."   Luke 18:1-8
