I almost died because my dad refused to take me to the ER despite severe abdominal pain, fever, and generally being out of it. My siblings literally screamed, cried and begged him for hours before he would take. I had a severe intestinal infection and had to be hospitalized. This isn't the only case, just the most severe. We literally have to cry and beg to get any medical attention. Is this abusive? My dad as a horrible fear of medical debt so I know it's not out of malice. (Can Publish)
In circumstances like this, intent doesn’t really factor in. It’s abusive, and possibly illegal, for a parent to deny medical care to their child. Part of becoming a parent is accepting that your child’s well-being will have to become your #1 priority and that debt is ultimately irrelevant when it’s a matter of whether your child lives or dies.

100. Dave has albinism in and is legally blind because of it but tries everything he can to hide it.
He thinks it’s not cool so he’s kinda ashamed of it. He avoids walking anywhere he hasn’t been to before without someone else or walking anywhere at night because he would need his cane and he doesn’t want to be seen using it. Bro is really considerate of this and won’t question when Dave asks him to go somewhere with him, or when Dave will grab onto the back of his shirt when the terrain is unpredictable.
His vision is fixed when he goes god tier, and while he is amazed and a little overwhelmed at first by the clarity and how vivid the world is he kinda misses being legally blind. It was part of him for so long, the details are too much sometimes, and sometimes he gets headaches and his eyes get really tired. And while he would never wish to be legally blind again, he can’t bring himself to get rid of the cane he once hated so much. He can relate with Terezi a lot.
