Loving Parent - Personal Care Worker Specialty

Every major society in the world has be totally transformed by the invention of the nuclear family. No one in a person’s life is as important as their parents. A loving parent provides the most personalized and most caring support of all the personal care worker specialties. Sometimes, older siblings, grandparents, or (un)fortunate strangers wind up taking on the mantle of a loving parent. It is important to note that most parents engaged in full time child-rearing do not have an employer, though many receive financial support from the other parent or their partner.

Special: Doting - A loving parent can have any number of children. Each session, the loving parent can bring any number of their children with them on the adventure. Many of their professional abilities depend on bringing a child along. These abilities do not function if a child is not within 20 yd, and the loving parent loses them forever, including all future abilities, if they bring a child on the adventure and they die.

Child - A child has HP equal to ⅙ of the loving parent’s HP, rounded down, and 0 PP. Their lowest attribute equals -2 and is the same as the loving parent’s lowest attribute (in the case of a tie, choose one.) Their highest attribute equals 1 and is the same as the loving parent’s highest attribute. All their other attributes are 0. The child has no level, no skills, and no culture. If the loving parent brings a child on their adventure, and the loving parent has more than 0 HP, whenever the child would lose HP, the parent loses the HP instead. This HP loss bypasses all protection.

Level 3: Loving Parent Powers - The loving parent may learn Educator powers as if they were Personal Care Worker powers whose power level equals its Educator power level.

Level 5: Mama Bear & Papa Wolf - Attacks the loving parent makes against enemies within 1 yd of an ally deal additional damage equal to their Charisma.

Loving Embrace (Child) - Once a session, a loving parent may hold their child close for five minutes. If they do, the child recovers all HP and PP, and the loving parent recovers half their maximum HP and PP, rounded down.

Level 7: Beaming with Pride - Once per session per character other than the loving parent, the loving parent can complement them on a skill as an immediate action. If they do, that character gains a bonus to that skill equal to the loving parent’s Charisma for the next check they make.

Active Listening (Child) - Each of the loving parent’s children has an interest skill; a particular skill the child would like to develop in the future. Once a session, a loving parent spend an hour talking to one of their children about their interest skill. If they do, the parent receives a bonus equal to their Charisma to that skill for the rest of the session.

Level 9: Family Pet - The loving parent acquires a family pet, who has the same statistics as a child. As long as they bring the pet with them on an adventure, they receive a +1 bonus to one of their attributes.

Cat - Fury

Taught Responsibility (Child) - When the loving parent brings the family pet on the adventure, each child the loving parent brings on the adventure receives a +2 bonus to the same attribute.

Profession: Personal Care Worker

As society created more elaborate hierarchies and greater divisions of labor, it came to be that the ruling class desired a variety of services to be cared out in their homes by servants. Eventually, servitude came to an end. At the same time, wealth began to be spread more evenly, and transportation became significantly easier. The end result is that people in the Personal Care and Service Occupations reclaimed their dignity, and gained the means to provide these useful services for everyone. Personal trainers, cosmetologists, and morticians are all common specialties.

Combat: Since the personal care worker’s abilities rely on Charisma, they usually fight with mental attacks. Some choose to instead use a high dexterity and physical attacks.

Adventuring: Personal care workers use a variety of yoga poses to fine tune themselves to different combat situations.

Alignment: Most personal care workers focus on nurturing their clients, as opposed to the world. Thus, the majority of personal care workers are of the Local alignment.

The Personal Care Worker

HP: 5/level

PP: 7/level

Bonus Skills: Four of: Area Knowledge, Artist, Body Language, Chemistry, Computer Use, Connoisseur, Current Affairs, Diplomacy, Driving, Machinery,  Merchant, Nature, Navigation, Search, Swimming, Writing

Physical Attack Bonus: ½ Profession level, rounded down.

Mental Attack Bonus: Profession level.

Proficiencies: Unarmed, voice, instruments, books, toys, tools, pre-modern, guns, artillery, pajamas, casual, formal

Powers: Personal care worker powers are governed by Charisma.

Professional Abilities

Level 1: Punctual - The worker gets +1 to their movement speed. Additionally, powers they activate with an activation time of 1 minute (12 rounds) or longer have their activation times reduced to 1/12 of their normal activation time. Finally, the personal care worker always knows what time it is in their native time zone.

Level 2: Nurture Growth - Buff powers the worker uses last twice as long.

Level 3: Personal Care Worker Specialty - The worker chooses one of the three personal care worker specialties: cosmetologist, personal trainer, and mortician. Once chosen, this choice cannot be changed.

Level 4: Flexibility - Pose powers the worker uses last three times as long. As long as they are under the effects of a pose power, they receive a bonus to all mental attack rolls equal to their Dexterity or +1, whichever is greater, and a bonus to all physical attack rolls equal to their Charisma or +1, whichever is greater.

Level 6: Personalized Service - Whenever the worker uses a skill other than the Teaching skill to aid another, they receive a +10 bonus to the roll.

Level 8: Dedication - The first time each session the worker falls to half their HP or less, they recover 1d12 HP. The first time each session they fall to half their PP or less, they recover 1d12 PP.

Level 10: Nurture Perfection - One of the worker’s clients, or some other person they work closely with, with no levels becomes a level 1 character of a profession of the GM’s choice. They become an ally of the worker, and level up whenever the worker does.

Specialty Abilities

Cosmetologist

Level 3: Cosmetologist Talent - The cosmetologist receives additional HP equal to their level. As long as the cosmetologist is wearing a cosmetic accessory, they may wear an additional cosmetic accessory.

Level 5: Two-Tone - As a 15 minute long action, the cosmetologist may combine two different hair dye items into a single hair dye. This combines their effects. The item level is the greater of the two item levels, the cost is the sum of their costs.

Level 7: Elegance - Attacks the cosmetologist make deal additional damage equal to the number of cosmetics they wear.

Level 9: Lacquerista - The cosmetologist learns how to make special nail polishes and artificial nails based on clothing and accessories, which has all the effects (but not any of the other statistics, like defenses, base protection, or accessory slots). They may base it off of any clothing or accessory they have heard of. Doing so is an hour-long action requires a TN 0 Artist roll, raw materials whose value is equal to 1/10th of the clothing’s value or 1/5th of the accessory’s value. On a failure, half the raw materials are destroyed. Use the following statistics:

Item Level: +0

Duration: 48 hours

Application time: 15 minutes

Special: It can only be applied by the cosmetologist who made it. A character can only wear one at a time.

Personal Trainer

Level 3: Personal Trainer Power - The personal trainer may learn Medical Aide powers as if they were Personal Care Worker powers whose power level equals its Medical Aide power level.

Level 5: Training Instruction - As long as the personal trainer is under the effects of a pose power, all allies within 20 yds receive the same effects.

Level 7: Mascot - The personal trainer receives the standard ability of one of the athlete’s mascots. At the GM’s discretion, they may undergo a quest to change teams, possibly one with a different mascot. The personal trainer only has the ability associated with the most recent team that they have been on.

Level 9: Training Regimen - The personal trainer invents a new exercise routine, diet, or other fitness innovation. They make their character level times $500 in royalties each month, and anyone who follows the routine receives additional HP equal to their own level.

Mortician

Level 3: Mortician Talent - The mortician receives the Reanimator accomplishment, even if they do not meet the prerequisites. Once, they may also set up a reanimation lab (MSRP $5,000) for free, but they must first find a place to put it, which may cost money.

Level 5: Bier Baron - The mortician has protection from poison and sorrow equal to their Charisma.

Level 7: Embalm - Attacks the mortician makes against undead creatures deal additional ennui damage equal to twice their Charisma. As an hour-long action, they can render a corpse unable to be raised from the dead and useless as a magical reagent. 

Level 9: Twilight Lab - The mortician learns the powers Revive and Perform Life-Saving Operation as 9th level powers, and receives a specially prepared cloning vat (MSRP $3300). In addition, they can control twice as many levels worth of undead as normal. Finally, as an hour-long action, they can make a TN 10 Medicine roll to turn 750 lb of human flesh into cloning fluid (MSRP $1700). On a failure, half the flesh is destroyed.

Its a good thing I actually really really do love my job, even when you get the shit beaten out of you every 15 minutes or you spend hours on end cleaning up the shit. But we honestly do not get paid enough.
