The Power of Perspective
Yes, this is one of those, “be grateful for what you have” posts…
However, it bears repeating how important it is to step outside of our own tunnel vision.
I forget to do it. You do. We all do.
Is a deadline on a deck stressing us out? Well, someone somewhere is trying to figure out how to feed their family.
Are we tired and don’t feel like joining that Zoom? Someone has been out of work for a year and would gladly sit in front of a computer for 20 hours a day if it meant a steady paycheck.
Do we need to overhaul something, redo a meeting or totally change our approach? Well, is it life and death or do we get to work on it from the comfort of our homes and in our sweatpants while drinking our third cup of $5 coffee?
I don’t mean to sound flippant and simply send a message that we need to stop complaining. But the truth is that sometimes we get caught in a vortex of thinking we are the center of the world and our problems are some of the biggest the world has ever known.
If you’re reading this, that’s not the case.
In fact, our work problems are very likely not even the biggest problems we face in our own lives.
So, this is a friendly reminder (for me as well) to step back and take stock of what’s really going on during our days and recalibrate how “big” our problems are.
If we do that in an authentic way we will find a renewed sense of perspective and a gratitude for what we have along with an appreciation for what we are able to accomplish with those gifts.

This tool enables a coach to make a positive impact on a client by assisting them in achieving their objectives. A coach or counsellor might use it to help a client analyse patterns of behaviour and design a transformation plan. NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is a body of knowledge that aims to assist people in changing their behaviour. It employs methods that focus on the mind, emotions, and willpower. It's also a type of self-improvement that teaches people how to change their own ideas in order to obtain the outcomes they desire.
To summarise, NLP is not a solution and does not work like a magic wand. NLP must be practised and utilised continuously in order to be truly effective and successful. You can share what you've learned about NLP tools and techniques with others and boost your own potential for success once you've become familiar with them.

Break down large goals into manageable steps. Many times our goals are lofty, which is a good thing. However large goals can seem unattainable, causing you to become daunted and lose motivation. Before you start any large project or goal, break it down into smaller steps. Get as detailed as you can. Soon you will be well on your way to success.
Try increasing your intelligence a little bit everyday. Be open to writing, reading, studying, or hearing something completely new and different. By broadening your horizons, you can meet and talk to new people about things that you otherwise would not have known about. You can also use this knowledge to find new hobbies, activities, or even a new career path that you may not have ever thought about.
When you are going through rough patches in your marriage, but aren’t quite ready to admit it, it is not time for you to go see a marriage counselor, it is time for you try and go down a path of self help. You need to stop procrastinating if you want to have a less stressful life. If you procrastinate often it means that you carry a lot of stress because you are constantly feeling as though you have to hurry up and get something done. Do you eat too much because you are bored or lonely? Determine the reason for these behaviors and you are more likely to successfully address them.
You can contribute to a more loving and fulfilling relationship with your partner by making an effort to clearly state your specific needs and expectations as they relate to showing appreciation for one another. Yes, you love your partner dearly, but you do not share the same brain. He or she should not have to guess when it comes to your wants and needs. In fact, this concept can be readily applied to your work and family relationships as well.
To live an authentic life you must become aware of who you really are and what you really want. Take at least 20 minutes each day to meditate. Examine your actions every day and decide whether or not you are really doing what you want to do. Identify the things that really are your heart’s desire and plan the steps you must take to attain them.
A great self help tip that everyone should follow is to be true to yourself. It is human nature to be concerned about your reputation in social settings. If you start first with building good character, you will not have to worry anything about your reputation. Do not worry about what others think, worry about what you really are.
Keep your sense of humor in all situations. If you find that there is far too much stress and negativity in your life, do what you can to find the humor in the situation. Humor is a fast and effective way to reduce stress and dislodge fear. Laugh your troubles away.
In conclusion you want to be all that you can be but you want it portrayed in a way that you can apply to your life.
