Goodnight from the nap master my boy, the Boston, Master Winston
Pet sleeps a lot. They assume it's because of the everything until one day somehow he manages to brew a super potent healing potion without anyone knowing. Strong enough it would knock anyone else out. Instead he stays awake the entire day the exhaustion of his pain just a dull ache. After that they start brewing them just for him. He’s awake more. He improves even faster.
My snek is a beautiful, graceful, curious, adventuresome, brave, trusting, sweetheart…but sometimes she is dumb as bricks.
I thawed a rat for her and dangled it in front of her and she jumped for the strike so hard she ended up half out of her feed box and could not be convinced to go back in. So I heated up the rat because she missed the first time. She grabbed it, yay! But in curling around it, she curled around the side lip of the feed box. So after a few seconds of construction she started to realize how much of a struggle it would be to try and eat this rat hanging in mid air. So with one coil holding the rat and the box, she tried to figure out a solution. Somehow this did not involve going back in the box or coming all the way out. Eventually she decided the best course of action was to make “Mom, help” faces at me.
So I got the broom handle and tried to push her back inside. Eventually she and the rat flopped back into the box. But the whole thing had taken so long that she had forgotten about the rat she was ALREADY HOLDING and went back into “waiting for food” position.
So I had to heat up rat number two. She successfully grabbed this one…only to roll it into the paper towels at the bottom of the box. Since the rat was wet, it soaked the paper towels which cooled off more quickly than the rat, thus rendering it invisible to her.
So I had to rescue rat number one, reheat it and re-offer it to her. While she eat that I had to rescue rat number two and re hear it to be re-offered after she was done with rat one. She still was giving off hungry body signals so I took out another rat to thaw and heat. That rat was half way done thawing (as in literally one half was squishy and one half a block of ice) when she decided that, actually, she wasn’t hungry anymore and could I please pick her up and put her back in her tank?
So rat three is back in the freezer, and the snek is satisfied and it only took one almost cry session from me to complete all of this.

Today's tale in trying to get my dog to eat a new diet. She needs to transition to a kidney friendly diet. We placed a single kibble in her bowl of otherwise regular kibble. She placed and sorted her food on the floor before finally eating everything. Clearly this is going to be a long diet transition...
