Just a quick update on my mum for anyone wondering.
She’s still in the hospital -- various things get ruled out, various other things seem to crop up. There’s not immediate danger of anything really awful, but she’s pretty far off her baseline in terms of memory and general mental acuity. Still, she’s close-ish to being released? Possibly? As soon as they run that one last test and figure everything out? But then again that’s how it’s been for over a week now.
So no real news, except that amid her confusion about, well, everything, she’s very interested in who all the doctors might be dating (she asked one guy about his girlfriend, and then quickly followed, “or boyfriend, because why not?”), and their aspirations (”what kind of doctor do you want to be when you grow up?” she asked encouragingly to a kidney specialist who is at least in his 50s).
She’s been sweet as pie to me, which is how she is when she’s ill/off her baseline. It makes everything easier to deal with for sure, but of course we ultimately want her to get back to her difficult self. Family, man.
