It took a moment for the nurse to put two and two together. The pain blooming in her chest initially taking up all of her focus and mental processes. A hand reached up to place her hand to the wound, but instead of finding a bleeding gap, there was something in the way—a…a knife?
Lilac eyes fell to the source of the pain, a knife embedded in in her chest, digging deeper and deeper into her chest as the assailant put more pressure behind his initial thrust.
Time seemed to slow and adrenaline started to course through her veins. Her thoughts receded, her brain shifting into a more primal, survival mode. Shaky fingers tried to grip the handle, to pull out the weapon, but instead found slim fingers still wrapped around it.

Her gaze moved from the shining, silver blade to the one who had done this to her…
