Hey everyone, not the post I usually make but things have been so rough recently with my life and we got hit with another blow. We had to take my childhood dog, Roo, to the emergency vet last month due to him collapsing and sadly a tumor was discovered on his heart. We're trying to make him as comfortable as possible with medication, but it's pricey along with the bill of the emergency vet. I'm still jobless besides the few hours I can pick up from my old job and my dad is disabled, so we're very much struggling.
It would mean the world to us if our gofundme was shared around. If you happen to donate, feel free to send me a screenshot of the receipt and I can do a little doodle for you. Thank yall in advance
Roo is my 14-year-old German Shepherd mix and my best furry friend. I adopted him from… Jeffrey B needs your support for Support Roo's Heart
Good vibes for Robit please, she has some hella sort of internal mouth injury/infection/??? I’m going to try to treat. Tub for you, ms. Plants :(
Her sister and mom seem fine and just got a giant water change. Yanked the driftwood out because I suspect she hurt herself on it. She is otherwise a live wire and looks great so who the fuck knows.
Jinn is sick. i'm hoping it's just nausea and he'll be fine if we can get some meds for him, but he's refusing all food and water now. he wouldn't even eat treats. he wouldn't eat chicken, which is his favorite thing ever and he always begs for it. he let dad pet him earlier. he just looks so upset and listless and he was completely fine yesterday other than a bit of a persistent cold. and it's very possible he just caught some bug but with his kidney disease...
we're probably taking him into the vet tomorrow (i say probably because he gets really scared at the vet, so we're calling them in the morning first to see what they recommend, if they think it's worth bringing him in and stressing him out). i just....hope he's okay. i get stuck thinking about how several months ago they warned me his kidney disease had progressed to his heart and he was constantly at risk and just...
My Fezzy has asymmetrical pupils. He'll be seeing the vet tomorrow. I hope he's going to be OK. He's the sweetest gentleman kitty and it's been such a privilege to see him blossom, from a scared, withdrawn mass of clumps and bad teeth, to the very soul of our blended household, comfortable napping belly up in any room and on any piece of furniture. I want to see how his next chapters play out. I want him to be alright.
It's two weeks today since Mr Flynnie came home, after we nearly lost him & he had to spend 5 days on a drip!
As you can hopefully see from these pics I took this afternoon, Flynn's doing OK! Much better than I'd feared. He's bright, alert, interested in things. He plays with toys a bit & has felt energetic enough to raid the washing pile several times & steal my clothes (which he does specifically so he can immediately give them back to me & be told he's a "good boy"), shred some junk mail & throw his own bed around the room!! He stamps his paws & yells at me when I don't do what he wants quickly enough & enjoys little outings in his buggy every day. We went for a follow-up vet appointment 2 days ago & our vet was very impressed with how well Flynn is looking, given everything going on - he said Flynn is a "great dog". I agree!
Flynn's health situation IS still very serious of course. He has to have a lot of "nursing" care from me over the day, to make sure he's getting all the (many!) medications he needs to stay comfortable & to help him have some food. Luckily he's being an absolute angel about cooperating with everything that needs doing, so although it's tiring & not much fun for either of us, we're muddling along alright. For those interested, I'll try & update more about what's going on with Flynn health-wise soon but... the main thing is though - for now at least, Flynn's doing as well as he can & managing to enjoy life. We're just taking things a day at a time ❤️
Thank you to everyone for the good wishes for Mignonne. She's doing better - she's eating as of today after starting steroids for her intestinal inflammation. Hopefully as she improves we can wean her off of them but it may be lifelong if this is IBD and certainly if it is lymphoma. I am hoping that this is a flare up of mild IBD related to changing her food and a bad hairball that required her to be hospitalized since it nearly became an obstruction. Hopefully if it's mild she won't have to stay on steroids or can be on a low dose. Knocking on wood.
Thank you, sincerely, friends, for all the love you show my sweet cat.
Hi everyone, life update from Laughing Coyote Homestead.
Not only are we grieving the loss of several members of our chicken flock, including beautiful Brave, a rooster I raised from hatching 5 years ago, but life has thrown us an even harder curve ball.
Last night, moments after we pulled our 8-year anniversary pie out of the oven, Echo and I noticed our cat, Nebby, in distress. Turns out that the coolest, sweetest cat in the world had his very first bout of urinary crystals. The night before we were to leave on a 2 day road trip to BLFC. We must attend conventions to pay our bills-- and they're our only chance to see many of our found family and closest friends-- but now, we have to stay home. We must watch over Nebby, administer meds, and find ways to increase his fluid intake to prevent this from happening in the future. I knew male cats struggled with this problem, but even my best at prevention wasn't enough. It is what it is.
We must allow ourselves to love, even if it hurts sometimes.
So. What this means for us is we'll be working harder to make cool art from home, running sales and maybe streams and opening commissions, so we can make it through to January for Further Confusion. (We may not even get selling tables there, either, but will shoot for what we can.) Our life is a financial hopscotch from convention to art fair to convention, and missing a step is going to be quite a leap indeed.
If you appreciate what Echo and I do, whether it be the experimental art, farming, local political activism, or what have you, now would be a fantastic time to help. There’s also lots of inexpensive digital downloads on my PayHip, where you can get crafts to make, sketchbook compilations, and ebooks. Anything helps to recoup the cost of needing to miss a huge chunk of our yearly income. Thank you for your support: the only reason our studio runs at all is because of you. And now it's time to get to work! Stay tuned for announcements for shop sales and commission openings.
