I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. I'm coming for the rest of the iterators next. However, if you want me to I could floofify your iterator characters. The fluff shall consume all.

A Shadowbug's favorite place for pets/scritches can vary amongst individuals.

Some Shadowbugs like to be petted or scritched anywhere (except the privates), and some Shadowbugs don't like to be petted at all.

Most Shadowbugs have specific places that they like to be petted or scritched, such as the head, chin, antennas, or belly. Scritching or petting a Shadowbug that wants it will earn you some little "mlems", nuzzles, play-biting, and affectionate squeaks.

Some Shadowbugs might start reciprocating the pets and scritches because they might initially think that's how humans show each other affection. They eventually learn that's not the case and opt for cuddles or hugs, but them trying to return the favor is adorable.
