I have 100%'d the Petal Runner demo and I have loved it!
I've been a Brandon James Greer fan for some time now, and I've had Petal Runner wishlisted on Steam since he announced it. Now the demo is out and I have finished it and it's everything I could have wanted!
Given that I adore monster tamers, Warioware-likes, classic RPGs, and gameboy color style graphics, this is really a love letter to things I utterly adore.
Plus it's got a pretty good sense of humor.
If you're also a fan of any of those things I discussed earlier, then give the demo a try!

Demo Backlog Roundup 1👾
Been workin a lot lately so decided to run through my demo backlog from next fests and whatnot (half of them are out by now lol), this rounds mostly been a puzzle day:
Cato: Buttered Cat - One of the weirder puzzle platformers I've played in a while, but it is damn fresh mechanically. From Team Woll, you play as both a cat that's vertically challenged and a piece of sentient buttered toast that can jump like beast but sadly isn't capable of walking, together however you're unstoppable - and by that I mean you can basically fly but many things will still stop you.
A level based puzzle game with new environmental obstructions every few levels to freshen things up and keep you thinking. The aesthetic has that jittery PSX low poly quality with a vibrant yellow, orange and blue aesthetic and some varied colour palettes in later worlds that keeps the player interested. Overall super impressed, bought it when I was finished the demo lol.
Puzzle platformer where you control both the cat and the toast, based on the famous "Buttered Cat Paradox". The game features 200+
Is This Seat Taken - Surprisingly fun conditional puzzle game from Poti Poti Studio, where you're just accommodating a larger and larger group of picky people in a space. Not much else to it, each person has 1-3 conditions that need to be met like "Doesn't like loud music" or "wants to be with parent" etc. and you just gotta make it happen. Super clean vector art with flat soft warm colours as it's palette, a thoroughly unified UI, and adorable, simple but recognizable characters littered throughout. Want a puzzle game to suck ya in then give it a shot.
Is This Seat Taken? is a logic puzzle game where you play matchmaker for groups of hilariously particular people. Each character has pet pee
Petal Runner - Been waiting to play this and MonsterPatch(sooon) for a while. Nano Park studios makes this charming lil GBC era pokemon-like, but replace battling with warioware style microgames and a surprisingly wholesome hopeful tech storyline that gives near solarpunk vibes (despite definitely presenting a weird corporate twist eventually lol). The arts taken most of the principles from that era and applied a few modern twists a lot of indie pixel art titles have implemented lately. The environments feel just like playing gold and silver for the first time but polished with extra lighting effects, larger pallettes, and crt-filters to clean up the old style to look closer to our fabricated memories of it lol.
The micro-games nail that old false perspective LCD handheld aesthetic we've all loved for nearly 50 years too. They control extremely well and theres tons of indicators to get you to pick up the goal right away. Theres some adorable-ass lore for the HanaPets and how they connect with their owners, even how they're created/born(?) has so much charm. If you're down for a creature collector from a small team with a bit more of a relaxing gameplay loop give it a go. This one's not out yet too so it could use a wishlist or two likely :p
Hop on your bike and join Cali and Kira as they ride across the sun-soaked city of Sapphire Valley and become Petal Runners! Make deliveries
Started Ambroise Niflette too but think I was a little too drained to solve mysteries that adorable, so I'll be saving that one for whenever I have time to burn through more of these lol.
