The Unwritten Supports: Dedue and Petra
Anonymous Requested: Honestly baffled that considering how much Petra likes to learn about other cultures, she doesn’t have supports with Dedue. That pair has such potential (would love C-A plus a paired ending)

Location: Greenhouse
OST: A Gentle Breeze
*Dedue is quietly tending to some flowers, quietly humming to himself. He suddenly stops and perks up*
Dedue: Hello Petra.
*Petra comes into view*
Petra: Hello Dedue! I am being surprised that you were of the able to hear me.
Dedue: It was not your sounds. It was your smell.
Petra: Ah, I have understanding. And what smell am I of?
Dedue, after considering for a moment: Cedar, if I had to choose.
Petra: Ah, thank you! I am of enjoying the smell of cedar.
Dedue, slightly confused: You... are welcome. *he turns to return to his work*
Petra: In truth, I was not of the intent to hide from you. I was fascinated by your song. It was such a beautiful tune.
Dedue: ...I see.
Petra: Is something the wrong?
Dedue: No.
Petra: Then... may I request what that song was?
Dedue: Of course... It... it is a Duscur folk song from my youth.
Petra: Ah. You never are of the speaking much of Duscur, Dedue. Why is this?
Dedue, an edge in his voice.: It is not something I wish to talk about.
Petra: Ah, I see. I apologize for the trouble, Dedue.
*Petra leaves*
Dedue: ...I should not have become sharp with her...

Location: The Library
OST: Respite and Sunlight
*Petra is in the library, paging through a book when Dedue comes in*
Petra: Ah, Dedue! I am joyous to be seeing you again.
Dedue: Indeed.
Petra: May I be asking what you are doing here?
Dedue: I... wished to apologize. I should not have become cross with you in the greehouse.
Petra: I am giving forgiveness. There is nothing to be of the apologizing for. I understand you are not of the wishing to speak of Duscur.
Dedue: Thank you, Petra. It is still... painful... to speak of it.
Petra: I am having understanding.
*Dedue gives a quick grateful smile*
Dedue: May I... ask what you are reading?
Petra: Ah! Yes. I was trying with great hardness to find the name of you song from the Greenhouse.
Dedue: I see. Had you any luck?
Petra: I have not. There are many books about Duscur’s history, but none that are speaking of its culture. Its music and treadition.
Dedue: You will find none.
Petra: I am having understanding. The Imperial Library of Enbarr was similar in regards to Brigid. They speak of our wars and our rebellions, but not our religions and our beliefs.
Dedue: Indeed. Harder to fight your enemy when they are more than words on a page.
Petra: Perhaps if more people were the knowing of our people’s ways, they would want to fight us less?
Dedue: I cannot say, Petra. There is no undoing what was done.
Petra: I am the having understanding. But, Dedue, if I may. May I hear your song again?
Dedue: Of course. But... I do not know the words.
Petra: That is being alright. The tune is more than enough.

Location: Chapel
OST: Recollection and Regret
*Dedue is standing before the ruins at the front of the chapel, silently contemplating, when Petra approaches him*
Petra: Dedue! It is such of a relief knowing you are well.
Dedue: Thank you, Petra. It was a near thing, many times.
Petra: I am having gladness. And, I had a present to be returning to you.
*She hands him a few pages of sheet music*
Dedue: This... this is the song. But... it has the words? And the title?
Petra: Yes. I wondered that you might wish to have the whole thing.
Dedue: Petra, where in Fodlan did you find this?!
Petra: During the war, one of my roads was of taking me to Duscur. I spoke to many old and wise of Duscur, learning of your ways, and eventually I put the song together.
Dedue: I... I thought this lost to me.
OST Change: Somewhere to Belong
Petra: I am being of the understanding that this is a lullaby?
Dedue: Yes... it is. My.... my mother would sing it to me at night, when I was upset or frightened..
Petra: I am the seeing.
Dedue: She... died in the tragedy. I could not remember the words or the substance of the song. Only the tune remained to me.
*A tear falls on the sheet music and Dedue realizes he is crying*
Dedue: I- thank you Petra. This is worth more to me than all the gold in Fodlan. Is... is there anything I can do for you, in turn?
Petra: No. I am the seeing that Brigid was very fortunate. The Empire did little to attack our culture, or our history as the Kingdom did with Duscur.
Dedue: Yes. ...They didn’t simply want to kill us. The Knights. They wanted to eliminate our ways, our culture, our history. They did not want destruction. They wanted annihilation.
Petra: Dedue... I would be the liking to help you restore these things. They are still there, I was of the seeing them. They must be put back together.
Dedue: Petra, I would be honored to have your aid.

Paired Ending: The Benevolent Soul and the Queen of Brigid
Though Dedue returned to Duscur following the war, his heart remained in Brigid with Petra. But they did not stay separated for long, as Petra made frequent trips to Duscur to aid in their reconstruction, fostering a friendship between their people even as their own relationship grew. Once Duscur could stand on it’s own two feet again, they announced their engagement, much to the joy of their friends and their people. Petra and Dedue ruled Brigid wisdom and compassion, their lives filled with joy and their people filled with hope. Their children learned of their joint heritage, no longer fractured and broken, and so would they pass it on to their children, generation through generation. The lullaby Dedue sang his children, the one his mother sang to him, would endure as well, kept safely in their hearts.
