CHICAGO
Hello lovely, I was listening to the song ‘Glory of Love’ by Peter Cetera and couldn’t help but be reminded of our ineffable pair. The lyrics are perfect for Aziraphale and Crowley. I miss them so much.
Hi, Anon! I am not actually familiar with the song you mentioned, but I went to Youtube to have a listen. I'll put up a link so folks check it out:
And here are the lyrics as well, so we can talk about them:
I think the first thing that caught my attention was the mention of a "knight in shining armor from a long time ago", which immediately made me think of the flashback in season 1 where we do see Aziraphale and Crowley in the Arthurian era wearing actual suits of armor. And "take you to my castle far away" conjures up the image of Alpha Centauri, which Crowley had wanted them to run away to together.
But what I really love is that the lyrics suggest that this song could work for both of their perspectives. Both Aziraphale and Crowley have said things they regret, have hurt each other, but also care for each other deeply and would absolutely fight for each other's honor (albeit in very different ways). It's that neither one of them can truly make it alone, because they are the only beings who have experienced what they have, and "knowin' together" is so reminiscent of Aziraphale and Crowley being on their own side. That they know things together that no one either in Heaven or Hell does, and have held onto that for more than 6,000 years.
This song is also very '80s (which of course makes sense, since it was released in 1986), and one thing that came to mind is how it feels like it would be perfect for Michael's playlist that many fans have surmised is heavily Aziraphale/Crowley-coded--or for Michael's Spotify in general, as we know he is such a huge fan of '80s music.
I keep thinking of the poignant tweet Michael posted yesterday, about the fan gifts he's received while doing Nye, and several Aziraphale/GO-themed gifts holding a place of prominence in the pictures (in particular, two Aziraphale/Crowley knitted dolls, and a needlepoint of the Husbands along with the words "On Our Own Side"). And I think what made it so moving is that it shows that he does still care, and that despite everything that's happened around season 3, he misses Aziraphale and Crowley perhaps just as much as we do.
So thank you for sharing this with me, Anon, as it's always wonderful to come across Ineffable Husbands-coded songs. I think there is so much that reminds them of us because they have made such an impression--an imprint, an indelible mark on our hearts. Even when the show ends, we won't ever be able to forget Aziraphale and Crowley. They will truly live on forever...

well, hello there…
idk, man. i just find him so attractive — that distinctive voice, the bass playing, the writing, the style, that handsome face… all of it. so here we are.
kinda late to discovering him (sorry, i was born in the wrong generation. i’m only 21 and from the ph, so yeah—there’s that), but ig better late than never. at least, i can still hold onto the crumbs scattered around the internet , scrape them off, and piece things together from there.
(i became a fan because i’m a bassist, and it amazes me how he can sing while playing all that stuff at the same time. i write as well, so i really admire his songwriting too).
i’m here not just because i’m a peterholic (that’s the number one reason, of course) but also because i’m a sucker for vintage and retro stuff. ya know, just another old soul wandering around.
ciao, k

hi, my name is andy and i'm super cool, which is why i run a tumblr blog. i go by he/him, collect fictional queers and have a lot of opinions. i'm a lawless poster, mostly revolving around 80s, fandom, music or queer media.
i'm a byler truther, also big fan of hannibal, marvel, anything that catches my interest for over three hours.
apart from tumblr, i listen to a lot of cool music, play atari, study forensics and journalism, collect moose socks, giggle like a little girl over finn wolfhard, and write (fanfiction and otherwise :))
always open for requests! i love swapping prompts, songs, and byler bullshit
