Peter Sarsgaard no longer corrects people associating him with Skarsgård family

Peter Sarsgaard no longer bothers to correct people who believe he's a member of the Skarsgård acting family.

The American actor is widely - but falsely - believed to be related to Swedish star Stellan Skarsgård and his four famous sons Alexander, Bill, Gustaf and Valter.

While he used to correct these confused people and explain that they simply have similar surnames, he no longer sees the point.

"I had a grip come up to me and be like, 'Oh, I just worked with your dad,'" he recalled to Variety. "I used to correct people, but now don't. I love Stellan's work, and Alex's, so why the f**k not if people want me to be a part of that family. I mean, he's got enough children so I could easily be another."

Peter, 53, previously told the Los Angeles Times that he discussed the confusion with Stellan around 30 years ago.

"(I) said, 'My name's Peter Sarsgaard, I'm an actor, and people always ask me if you're my father.' My memory was that I think we were going to pretend we were related," he shared.

🦇 🦇🦇 The Batman 🦇🦇🦇

My overall feeling is that I'm eager to see it again.

Love how Gotham looks. It's creaky and creepy. Love the gothic interiors of Wayne Manor and the church.

It's really beautifully lit. You can still track what's going on because it's lit so well or makes use of silhouette.

This movie takes its time ... with ... everything ... it's really deliberate. In one sense it makes it really easy to follow along, like this isn't so fast-paced and jam packed that it's just overstimulating you. 

Love the cast. To a person, everyone delivers. I was an optiminist about these casting choices from jump street and I think they aquit themselves really well. Up until I saw this movie  

This is so heavily focued on Batman. Lest that seem obvious there is very little Bruce Wayne TM in this movie. Like the best iterations of Batman before it, this movie gets that Bruce Wayne is the mask. It also makes the choice not to use the advantages Brucy Wayne has to try to change the city. By the end he realizes he has to be more than just vengance and presumably that includes useing the billionaire-playboy Bruce Wayne cover to do recon etc.

The beginning of this movie is so strong. The intrigue and working the case with Batman and Gordon then Batman and Alfred are probably my favorite scenes.

The action is filmed in long takes. We see bodies fully in the frame. It compares favorably to Nolan's take in this regard. This Batman can move and the fights go to ground. When people criticized Nolan's presentation of fighting I'd usually think, wait what? Then on rewatch it became more clear what the criticisms were about. But it didn't matter as much because I was so affecteed by the story in those cases I remembered the fighting being more like what's presented here. The violence isn't impressionistic or overly stylized. The Batman's suit is obviously bullet-proof because he knows people are going to shoot at him.

The music is amazing. Like deceptivly simple but so powerful. Love the percussion, too. 

Was Selina running a long con and it happened that her friend got murdered? If she was just using Ana to get to Falcone why'd she get the passport back? Also why was there not a mention of the murder weapon used on Mitchell before the third act? We get tthe lingering shot of the odd edge on the floor? Chalk it up to Gotham curruption in the ME's office, maybe. Why isn’t there mention of like, more security for the other mayoral candidate? 

The ending is beatutifyl and hopeful. I really craved one more Alfred scene. Like a moment between Batman and Alfred where he explicitely plans to use the Bruce Wayne persona more. This is a case where the run-time works against this movie. If it's 3 hours long, why miss a beat?

The story is in a bit of bind because Gordon is a "good cop." We don't get the kind of noir that really indicts cops as part of systemic corruption to be overcome to get true justice. The Batman goes as far as allowed in a big budget movie. 

The length of this movie makes it necessary to rewatch it. Right now so many of my nit-picks could possibly be eliminated with a closer look. Like why didn't Batman get closer to detecting the sea wall was at risk? Was the reporter with dirt on the Wayne's the Riddler's father? And wasn't that reporter already dirty, as in he was a reporter on Maroni's payroll? 

My overall feeling is that I'm eager to see it again.

The Sound of Silence (2019)

There are a symphony of almost undetectable sounds that make up a moment of silence, and Peter Lucian (Peter Sarsgaard) is determined to catalogue them all.

Green Lantern (2011)

The Green Lantern Crops is an intergalactic police force armed with rings powered by the will of the universe. It seems like maybe they need another corps specifically for making prisons though, as their most dangerous enemy, Parallax, breaks free from his bounds after sucking yellow skeleton ghosts or something out of three aliens who fell in to his prison cave. He starts eating up planets, like you do, and kills a few members of the Green Lantern Corps, including Abin Sur, the space cop who put him away the first time around. After crashing to Earth, Abin Sur’s ring recruits cocky pilot Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) to become the next member of the force.

Hal learns about his new powers on the planet Oa, home of the Green Lantern Corps, and gets a history lesson and tour, including a trip to the core of the Corps’ power (because that’s not confusing at all). While there, evil-looking-but-really-a-good-guy Sinestro (Mark Strong) give Hal a bunch of shit for being human, for no particular reason at all.

Back on earth, Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard), a high school biology teacher, is allowed to check out Abin Sur’s corpse because his daddy is a Senator, and he gets some yellow goo on his finger that gives him telepathy, telekinesis, and a terrible makeover. He attempts patricide as revenge for his father hooking him up with a sweet government gig, but Hal Jordan, back on Earth, saves the day in his first public outing as the Green Lantern. On Oa (again) the masters of the Green Lanterns, the Guardians (of the Galaxy?) reveal to Sinestro that Parallax was once a Guardian who tried to harness the evil yellow power of fear for... some reason. This turned Parallax evil because... of some reason. So Sinestro decides they need to harness the evil yellow power of fear to beat him because... how could that go wrong?

Hal, as the Green Lantern, tries to woo his ex-girlfriend/boss Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), but she totally sees through his bullshit. Her pointing out how stupid the thought that hiding his cheekbones would prevent him from recognizing her was probably the best part of the movie. It’s hard for me to say for sure, because I totally stopped paying attention after that. Hector tries to kill his dad again, Hal shows up for some reason and tries to stop him, but completely fails. Then he flies back to Oa to... ask the Guardians to let him go back to Earth... where he just was? But he also talks about how great humans are, and changes everyones mind about using the Yellow ring Sinestro had made. Back on Earth Hector has kidnapped Carol (which was presumably easy since Hal flew all the way to Oa just so he could ask to go back to Earth), and Hal beats him up right before Parallax (who is a giant cloud with Octopus arms and a 20 foot tall face at this point) shows up to start trying to destroy Earth. Hal gets him to follow him to the Sun, and then punches him in his 20 foot face with a 20 foot fist, causing him to fall in to the sun.

The End.

I’d heard this movie was terrible, but I really wanted to enjoy it, and I kind of did? The visuals were okay, especially seeing Oa, but the characters all felt flat, except for Hal Jordan, who just seemed like a douche. Worse, the plot was ridiculous, and felt completely disjointed throughout, and both of the villains, Hector Hammond and Parallax, made me wish that Sinestro would just go ahead and be evil already.

(Also, holy crap, this screenplay had 4 different writers!) 4/100
