~ Rosa C. Petherick~ English~ Children's Book Illustrator/Artist~ b. in Croydon, England, she was the eldest of five daughters, all artistically talented. Her father was artist 'Horace William Petherick' whose black and white illustrations were used in many periodicals. All of the children grew up in the family home where their parents lived throughout their married lives. Only the youngest daughter Dora, ever married. Rosa's four sisters were talented musicians and played as 'The Petherick Quartet.’ Rosa was also a musician, although she never played in a musical group she competed in many design competitions and won several International competitions for her Art Work. Rosa never married and remained in Surrey her entire life~
