moodboard: pedrazar (peter x balthazar)
Benjy: Are you a big spoon or a little spoon?
Peter: I'm a knife.
Balthazar, from across the room: He's a little spoon.
Vegan Fred (watching Balthazar stare at Peter): Wouldn't it be easier to just write "I'm desperate" on your forehead?
Freddie: If one of you had to pick one of the other guys to go out with, who would you pick?
Benedick: No way.
Balthazar: I'm not answering that.
Peter: Balthazar.
Everyone:
Peter: . . . No way, I'm not answering that!
Pedrazar receipts
okay i’m still on “It’s Super Important!” and their fourth nmtd episode and @bisexualwentworth and @nbrosalind bring up something that’s driving me nuts which is that both “An Ode” and “one foot on sea one on shore and one in hot boiling lava” were filmed when the show was already airing?! And I was around at the time, I know I started watching the show somewhere before “one foot”, so before it was clear if Pedrazar would actually be made canon.
And I do remember something about tcw saying that they made Pedrazar happen as a kind of afterthought, because they saw people were shipping it. It’s just?? so long ago that I don’t remember any details and my memory is shit, but now I’m obsessed with the thought of having to KNOW and I’m scrolling through years and years of tags and content and all that to get to the bottom of this. So if anyone knows something please tell me so my brain can rest?
here’s what I vaguely remember: people started shipping Pedrazar as early as Vox Pops - I certainly got that vibe, especially from Balthazar, which, as they put it so perfectly in the podcast, he’s introduced with his two character traits “music” and “gay”. Tcw, who previously hadn’t planned to make anything explicitly canon, decided to amp up that ship by adding “one foot” (possibly also “an ode”, but I’m not sure).
since the main liw influence at the time was still Lizzie Bennett Diaries and we only got Fitz there as representation (in a throwaway line that I totally missed the first time I watched it), maybe tcw planned to do something along those lines - have a canon gay character whose sexuality is clearly hinted at but never explored. When tcw realized that Pedrazar as a ship resonated with people, they decided to make it explicitly canon since it already lined up with their own thoughts about the characters.
that’s as much as I remember - if anyone knows more, PLEASE tell me so my brain can rest
What if I named my new kitten Balthazar?
My aesthetic: Peter laughing like a lovesick idiot throughout the entirety of Berry Nice
A little late, but happy Valentine's Day
