Soukoku Week 2017, Day 2

Spring // 「That’s what being a partner means, right?」 – Dazai Osamu, Chapter 11

Dazai wants no partners, doesn’t need them –doesn’t even know what being one means. And still. The world is red and wet. The bones break as china falling to the ground, the waterfall of bullets overlapping any other sound. There is no use. The enemies’ weapons fall useless the moment they touch Chūya, and Dazai stares mesmerised as he fights single-handed all of them. None of the enemies stand a chance and soon they are no more than bodies in the ground, the black of their suits creating a pattern against the red of the spilled blood. Chūya stands high in the middle of it, the pure image of a calamity God bringing destruction. Dazai’s never looked at something so beautiful, and then he knows. He doesn’t know what being a partner means, but perhaps he could try.

Otayuri ficlet, an expanded headcanon i posted earlier.

They have been all day skating at Medeu. The only thing Yuri wants to do now is to buy some mänti at the nearest street food stall and sleep forever.

After accomplishing the first step (the mantis are good, but not as good as his grandpa’s pirozhki), Otabek and Yuri walk by Almaty’s streets eating in silence. In their way to Otabek’s flat, they find an ice rink in the centre of a square, full of children laughing.

Most of them can hardly move forward, let alone try any spin, but they seem happy while skating, helping those who can’t even stand without shaking.

Their laugh is the only sound that can be hard, and Yuri loses himself in watching them, remembering days gone by.

“When was the last time you skated just for the sake of it?” Otabek asks, always accurate, and Yuri spends a lot of time thinking before answering.

“I can’t remember.”

Otabek nods, and before Yuri can tell what is happening, he’s being dragged towards the rink’s ticket office. He buys two tickets for two hours each, and when the employee asks for the skate’s size number, Otabek says both his and Yuri’s without skipping a beat.

The skates rub in all the wrong places, their weight is excessive and the blades definitely need to be changed, but Yuri puts them with only mildly complain (in his opinion).

Once in the rink, he tries some twirls to get used to the skates. Then he does a camel spin, and some people in the rink applauds.

“Yura,” Otabek says after he’s started practicing the step sequence of his new free program, “stop. Just— have fun.”

“But I’m having fun!” Yuri scowls, and Otabek doesn’t even dignifies with an answer. He just raises his eyebrow.

They’re interrupted by a little girl, 10 years at most, who looks at them with pleading eyes.

“Excuse me, sirs…” She starts, his face red of embarrassment.

In just ten minutes, all the children who were skating (and some of the teenagers, too), are surrounding them, asking about everything —how do you do the flip in the air?, it is true that the blades can cut off your fingers?, can you teach me how to run without falling?

Yuri’s quite good with children, for someone who is described as “punk” and is generally obnoxious. He takes them by the hand, and guides them across the rink. When they fall, he’s quick to be at their side, comforting them.

Otabek is more reserved, chatting only with two teenagers fan who recognize him. He gives them his autograph, and they take some selfies together. Yuri calls him, then, for a demonstration (or so he thinks he’s heard), and the girls tell they’ll cheer for him in the next Grand Prix.

“She wants me to do a toe loop,” Yuri greets him, “but I’m just gonna die of exhaustion if I keep going. I’ll leave it to you.”

Otabek nods, squeezing Yuri’s shoulder before catching speed. He does a triple toe loop, and when he lands (perfectly), everyone cheers him. Yuri does too, whistling even, and Otabek notices and gives him his usual thumbs up. Yuri laughs, and he must admit it —it’s the most fun he’s had in years (both inside and outside a rink) .

A staff member comes some minutes before their time’s about to be over. She thanks them first for all the work they’re doing, and tries to give them back their money, but both of them refuse. She invites them to stay as long as they want, and Otabek and Yuri stay until the rink closes, helping the children and answering his questions.

Exhaustion strikes them in their way to Otabek’s. Yuri’s legs all but fails, and ultimately Otabek pick him up. Yuri’s too tired to complain or even care, so he just wraps his legs around Otabek’s torso and rests his chin in his shoulder.

When they arrive at his flat, Otabek goes directly to the bedroom. He puts Yuri (now asleep indeed) in the bed, and follows him immediately after. He’s out the moment he touches the pillow.

SasuNaru AU’s where the final chapters don’t even exist are good, but I really love those where they end up together years after, at like +35years.

Sasuke leaves Konoha for good because he just can’t be there: the city where all his family died, which betrayed his brother, which still consider him a traitor -- he just have to get out.

His relationship with Sakura is good, but he isn’t in love with her. She understands, because she loves him, and she help him get everything ready. They do not tell anyone. It not their business.

He leaves at night, Sakura watching him go like all those years ago, and it’s funny how everything is so different and still the same.

Naruto is away in some Kage meeting, and when he arrives at Konoha, some weeks after Sasuke’s departure, he still has no idea. It seemed inappropriate to told him via official scroll (it wasn’t an important matter), or letter (it was too frivolous), and actually nobody wanted to be the  person in charge of telling him -- because of reasons.

So some days pass and Naruto is too busy doing all his delayed work to notice Sasuke’s absence and too dense to notice how everyone is always a little edgy around him. And then there is this afternoon when Boruto is messing around and he is caught and sent to the Hokage Tower and a Wild Discussion Appeared! And sometime Naruto is like “Go play with your friends!” and some lines after Boruto yells “Oh, come on! Even your supposed best friend LEFT YOU AGAIN!” And suddenly everything stops and Naruto, top serious, is like “What?” an everyone is frozen in spot, utterly terrified, but Boruto doesn’t realizes so he tells him.

All the Konoha citizens (and some travelers who are near) can pinpoint the exact moment when Naruto receives the news: his chakra outburst can be felt several kilometers around.
