Petrol tanker catches fire in Lagos
A 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) ladened tanker caught fire at the entrance of Gowon Estate, Ipaja Road, Alimosho, Lagos. This is coming less than 48 hours after a similar tanker spilled it content in Anambra state. Meanwhile, as traffic gridlock builds up, motorists have been advised to make use of alternative routes. As at filing this report, Men of the Lagos State Fire Service and the State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA are at the scene battling to put out the fire. Another petrol tanker falls, spills PMS in Anambra
There was panic in Awka, Anambra State on Saturday morning as petrol tanker loaded with PMS fell into a ditch along the ever busy Zik’s Avenue Residents and passersby ran for safety as the products spilled out, while some others started scooping it at opposite Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral church in Awka. Security operatives, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and the state fire service, were on hand to forestall a repeat of what happened in Onitsha few weeks ago. In less than two months not less than three oil tanks have caused security havoc in Anambra state with lives lost. Meanwhile to avoid fatal casualties, the police patrol teams cordoned off the area and prevented people from further scooping.
