Hello everyone! It's been almost 4 years since my Garden Heights makeover, and now it's finally time to move on to Stephen!

MESA FLATS

Mesa Flats is a glittering haven for the wealthy and the restless, where the nightlife never sleeps and fine dining is a competitive sport. But beneath the excitement of the upcoming masquerade ball, simmering rivalries threaten to turn the celebration into a scandal.

What's new & what has changed?

All sims have ancestors now and some are connected in family ties;

New sims and families (including Kim family from the bin);

Some sims with a 2nd template are remade; sims whose faces were too high are fixed;

More depth & lore of existing sims;

All lots are completely made over (except iconic lots like Stephen Loyal's), including all community lots - a lot to explore;

High quality snapshots in family albums telling their stories;

and many more.

Note: this is my own vision of the hood and it doesn't correspond the original story 100%. I used it for main inspiration, but made my personal interpretation of things. Hope you OK with it!

So my parrots have this communicated mischief between them. We've placed them in the garden for a more natural feel, and we have a clear view of it from the backdoor of the kitchen. Every morning, they disappear from their little enclosure.

Yes, they disappear.

You can't see them anywhere in their space, the enclosure looks empty.

Me or mum go to the backdoor and we whistle, or make parrot speech. But nope, nothing.

And THEN! We call their names, and a head slowly peeks out from the corner of the space that's a blindspot to us.

Literally, peeking out! Like how a kid would do when caught doing something he shouldn't be doing! And the second one hangs upside down, like he'd always been there and we're the blind ones.

It's a really funny morning tradition🤣

These Calico Cat Facts Caught Me Completely Off Guard

The more you pay attention to calico cats, the more you realize they’re basically walking one-of-a-kind designs. It almost feels like nature hit the “randomize” button and decided not to repeat itself ever again. Every calico has its own mix of orange, black, and white patches that will never be duplicated in exactly the same way.

What really makes them stand out is how unpredictable their patterns are. Unlike some animals with consistent markings, calico cats don’t follow a uniform design rule. One might have a bold black patch over the eye, while another has soft orange swirls across its back. It’s this randomness that makes them feel almost artistic, like each cat is its own living canvas.

Then there’s the genetics behind it, which is honestly even more interesting than the appearance. The calico pattern is linked to X chromosome inactivation, which is why most calicos are female. Male calicos are extremely rare and usually come with an extra chromosome combination, making them something of a genetic anomaly in the animal world.

People also tend to associate calico cats with strong personalities. While that’s more anecdotal than scientific, many owners describe them as independent, expressive, and sometimes a little dramatic in a charming way. Whether that’s true or just human interpretation, it definitely adds to their reputation.

Across different cultures, calico cats have also picked up symbolic meaning. In some traditions, they’re considered lucky, protective, or even spiritually significant. This is part of why calico patterns often appear in decorative cat figures meant to attract good fortune.

In the end, calico cats are interesting not just because they look different, but because everything about them genetics, rarity, appearance, and cultural meaning feels layered. The more you learn, the harder it is to think of them as “just cats with spots.”

And honestly once you notice it, it’s hard to stop appreciating how special they really are.
