Hii!! Could you do a mogari x reader where he tries to recruit reader to join phantom busters? Or reader is already in the club. Love ur work sm!!
Mogari recruiting! I can't lie, I have a hard time writing Mogari so he might a bit ooc but wtv. 1.7k Words, enjoy!
You have always been able to see and sense spirits. You had never explicitly told anyone, but somehow, there were always rumours in every school you went to about your abilities. At this point, maybe it was just the ghosts themselves that delivered the message to the other students.
With the new school in a different city and new people, you had learnt to avoid ghosts and all association and talk of it. You had been determined not to let that quirk dictate your life anymore.
It had worked well enough. You had a bunch of friends, you were mildly popular and well liked within your class. People actually liked talking to you and initiated conversations that didn’t feel like they were only trying to make you embarrass yourself. No weird pranks anymore, no over the top rumours. People actually even dismissed the few rumours that were floating around. You were just you now, with your friends and a class that thought you were cool. It felt freeing to fit in this much, to be honest, even if it wasn’t entirely the real you that you portrayed for them.
Yes, it had worked well enough. That was until the weird guy in your parallel class had come in through the door one day. Another guy with white hair stumbled over the doorstep, quickly pulling himself out of the classroom and talking frantically with him. You quickly looked away and turned your back on them to talk to your friends instead. You tried to sink into the chair a bit more. You had heard of those two.
“Right?” Your friends voice cut through your growing discomfort. Your eyes snapped upwards. “Right?” You repeated confused. “Were you even listening?” She sighed and hit my arm lightly “Weirdo. I was asking if you wanted to go to the beach next week since it’ll be hot.” She explained again. You nodded absently, trying to feel out the presence of the two boys behind your back. Before you could collect yourself enough to answer, a hand slammed down on the table. Well, not a hand. It was more like the impact of an entire body that collided with the side of it. You flinched, wide eyed. Your friend let out a startled scream.
The black haired boy spoke your name. “That’s your name, right? I heard you can see ghosts!” You felt like every head in earshot turned into your direction. No.
You flicked your eyebrows together and drew them down. “What are you talking about? That’s ridiculous.” He looked a little surprised at your response. “What do you mean ridiculous?” You saw his silver haired friend behind his back. His energy immediately settled under your skin. He was also someone who could see phantoms? “Zaki told me.” He gestured to his friend.
Mogari Shishikuno was someone you had always tried to avoid. The second you had heard about his troupe that promised to exorcise spirits, you had known those were the exact kind of people you didn’t want to associate with.
Now he came to you after you had gone through all the trouble for that to not happen and that with everyone around you. “No. I do not see spirits.” You lied. You heard your friend breathe out a snicker and felt her hand on your arm. In that moment, Mogaris friend, Zaki, stepped a little closer behind him and whispered something towards him. They looked at each other, then Mogari looked at you one last time. “Hm, that’s fine. ‘Til later.” Before you could question what he meant, his friend had already dragged him away.
You sighed. The two of them leaving felt like a boulder being lifted off your chest. Honestly, you were ready to go home now.
Your friend laughed. “Oh my god, what was up with them? I’m telling you these guys are not normal. Don’t they have some freakish club going on? What a waste of good looks.” Sometimes her voice was so grating in your ear. You gave her a mildly irritated look, retaining most of your annoyance at her words. “Just leave it.” You didn’t want to hear her talk like that. “Anyway tell me about those plans for the beach. You wanted to bring a camera?” You led the conversation away from what had happened.
The rest of the day passed like a blur. You couldn’t concentrate, and an inkling of the judged and disgusting feelings that you knew so well from your past had seeped into your mood. You felt like people were watching you even when you knew they weren’t. On top of that, you kept thinking about the “’til later”. Had it been a simple mistake on his part? Or was there more behind it?
The cherry on top of everything was that you were hungry, and you had forgotten to pack food this morning.
You trotted to the shoe lockers when the school finally rang the last bell for the classes to end. The day had been exhausting, and after the incident, you had tried to avoid talking to your friend too much. Her voice annoyed you. It didn’t before. Maybe it was just her capability of using it to speak the way that she did about Mogari. It made you think of the people who used to talk about you in that manner.
When you took out your shoes and closed the locker again, Mogari stood next to you. You flinched. You hadn’t seen him since the locker door had blocked your view. This time, he looked more serious than when he had giddily visited you in class earlier that day.
“Hello…?” You began when he didn’t. “Did you not want to say it in front of the class?” Oh, so straight to the point. You considered him for a little while. “I don’t want to be associated with things like that.” You settled. “Oh, is it because acknowledging the ghosts makes them notice you?” He asked. You were a little surprised he had thought that far, but that had never bothered you as much. Well, you usually ignored them anyway.
“Huh? Well, no. I just don’t want people to think I’m a freak.” You sat down to change your shoes. “It isn’t about the ghosts?” He asked, and you shook your head in response. “People tend to get weird when they know you’re not like them. Why do you even care if I could see them or not?” You tied off your shoes and got up. “We want to invite you to join our club. You don’t have one, right? I mean, since you’re going home this early.” You cringed a little at his suggestion. Joining their club would trash the reputation and friends you worked for so hard.
“I don’t feel like joining a club.” You adjusted your backpack over your shoulders and walked past him in the direction of the exit. “Hold on!” He shouted, and you heard his steps follow behind you. You halted one last time and turned around to him. “I seriously won’t join. Just leave it.” You said. Mogari crossed his arms and sighed heavily as he looked up. “Haaah, what will it take to convince you?” He finally asked. You paused. He was asking you how to convince you to join? That was stupidly ridiculous.
You had been exasperated by his question at first. But then you couldn’t stop an amused smile from turning your lips upward. “What?” You chuckled. “Why are you asking me?” He stemmed his hands on his hips. “If you want friends, we’ll be your friends. You know, Zaki looks like a delinquent, but he’s a cutie, and Tamon is a bit shy... actually Tamon might have to get used to you first but Koreshiki is intelligent and nice and of course there’s me.”
He pulled up his shoulders with a grin. “No one’s more fun than me. I promise.” You laughed, this time outright. This felt so ridiculous that it was funny. “Some days we also just relax in our clubroom, we have the cool room in the cellar, it’s really nice and cold during the summer. Also, we need your abilities. We can’t do club activities when Zaki’s not coming to school. I’m telling you it’d be more fun than hanging out with those friends of yours. And you can quit any time if you want to.”
You took a breath and held it. Were you willing to give up what you worked for? Maybe they wouldn’t have to know you were being serious. You could tell them it’s just a fun side activity, and there’s no real exorcism involved.
You could also just be yourself and not care for who distances themselves and talk about you and who doesn’t because whoever doesn’t like you as you really are, isn’t a real friend in the first place.
No, that’s an idealistic option. At least for people like you. But maybe, just maybe you could give it a try? You really hadn’t wanted to in the beginning, but Mogari sounded like he was a fun person, and most of all, he sounded genuine. It was a little hypocritical from you of all people to value honesty and genuineness, but you couldn’t deny it was refreshing to see.
So maybe you could? Just act on impulse.
“Fine,” His face visibly lit up. “Yeah? Perfect!” “Hold on, hold on, I have one condition.” You stopped, but he didn’t seem deterred. “Anything.” He beamed. “If I ruin my reputation, then I want to do it properly. So I don’t want to just be a substitute for your friend. I want to be part of everything.” He laughed like you had just told him something incredibly stupid. “Of course, we wouldn’t exclude you. Welcome to Phantom Busters.” “Yeah. Thanks for having me.” You smiled a little. You had no clue what you were getting yourself into. You just hoped you wouldn’t regret it.

Kaoru Kanzaki
He was distracted watching anime when you decided on your attack.
At first, it wasn’t meant to be an attack. He was watching anime, you were watching him. A little too long. His cheekbones, the baby fat that was still in his cheeks. You reached over to cup his face, only to feel his smooth skin under your palm. He looked at you sideways but didn’t comment on the action.
When you saw that he didn’t try to stop you, it awakened the urge in you to see how far you could go. That and the fact that he just looked so cute, concentrated on the anime. His brows were slightly furrowed as he watched, his lips a little pursed. “What are you thinking about?” You asked, your hands still on his face. “I’m trying to make sense of the power system. It makes sense but I think I got lost after they explained how En works, I honestly understand now why everybody was saying that the Nen system is complicated.” He explained, his eyes trained on the TV in an effort to not miss anything that happened. You giggled. When you had first began watching Hunter x Hunter, you had told yourself you were there for the fun not to understand everything that happened. Watching him trying to understand every little detail in the anime he watched was amusing and so cute. Sometimes he even whipped out his phone in the middle of an episode, just to google details about the anime.
You laughed. “You’re so cute, Kaoru.” You spoke, squishing his cheeks together. “What are you doing?” He asked, defenselessly surrendering himself to you. “Cuddling my boyfriend?” You grinned. You let off and instead gently traced over his scars. “I can’t see anything with your hands on my eyes.” The boy muttered. “I don’t mind.” You responded, and he raised his eyebrows. “I do, though.” “I know you don’t actually.” You teased him and pinched his cheek playfully. “Hey-!” You pinched him again. “That hurts, stop.” He attempted to protest, but he wasn’t getting anywhere anymore at this point. “You’re just too cute!” You seized the baby fat between your pointer and thumb, squeezing his cheek like a grandmother would with her grand kid during family reunions. “Stop-!” he began grabbing for your wrists in an attempt to fight you off, but you quickly took the chance to lodge your hand under his shirt and tickle his side.
He flinched sideways and broke out into laughter that you used to continue squeezing his cheeks. “God, you’re actually worse than my sister when she does this shit.” He snorted with laughter. “Don’t lie. I had a long debriefing with Hikaru about your childhood. That girl tortured you.” You returned, and he laughed even harder. Finally, you ducked your head down to his and pressed kisses all over his face, keeping his wrists in your hands. Although, this time, he just smiled, his eyes crinkled. “You’re gonna make me miss the entire episode.” He commented between kisses. “You can rewind it.”
Mogari Shishikuno
You’ve been in bed for the past few hours. You were half on top of him, both of you scrolling on your phones, basking in each other’s presence. From time to time, you tried listening to the audios coming from Mogari’s phone, but you always gave up quickly. The guy was neck deep into brainrot that you hadn’t even heard about once. He’s also been going on about Italian brainrot the entire time. It’s kind of funny though, you considered buying him a shirt with Ballerina Capuccina for his birthday. You were sure he’d love it.
Suddenly, he nudged you, which was more of a full body shake, considering he was underneath you. “Hey.” He spoke. “What’s up?” You twisted, a little uncomfortably, to look at him. “You know that trend where the boyfriend lifts his girlfriend on his shoulder? Let’s do that.” He said, all too casual sounding.
You stared at him. It was a trend you’ve been thinking about doing. Knowing he had considered, too, made your chest swell. He was so endearing. “Aww Mogari, you cutie!” You mustered in your most annoying cartoony voice. Nevertheless, you were touched. You wrapped your arms around his neck, squeezing him tightly. “Heyyy, you’re suffocating me!” He protested, but you didn’t care. You drove a hand through his hair, swiping his bangs out of his face and planting intentionally wet kisses on his cheeks and forehead.
“You’re slobbering all over me-! You’re gonna pay for that.” You suddenly stilled when you felt his teeth in the crook of your neck. A gasp escaped you. “Mogari!” “Told ya, you’d pay.”
Tamon Kotaro
Tamon doesn’t play his guitar very often. Especially not lately, even though he was really good at it. So when he’d told you to “Hold on, I want to show you something." and had slithered out from underneath you to grab the guitar that was displayed in a corner of his room, you’d been quite surprised.
“What are you doing?” You asked, watching from the couch how he set himself up on his chair. “I made something, uhm…” He dug out a piece of paper and placed it before him. “What’s that?” You righted yourself. He laughed nervously and looked up at you innocently. He was so cute sometimes. “I wrote a song.” He finally said, the smile still evident on his face. You felt your own light up at the revelation. “You did? Omg, show me!” You grinned and leaned back. “It’s like… uhm.. so..” Tamon stuttered, suddenly sheepishly embarrassed again.
You knew Tamon. He wasn’t the type to get embarrassed like this very easily, mainly because he was often too dense to read social clues enough to even get embarrassed in the first place. So whenever he did get like this, it was either something ridiculously small or really big.
“C’mon just spit it out, Tamon!” You urged. He never chokes up around you. “It’s a love song.” He finally spoke. A pause. Then he flushed from head to toe. You sucked in a breath. “A love song? For me?” He nodded. “Oh my god, Tamon!” You shot off the couch and planted a kiss on his lips. “You’re so adorable, Tamon.” You teased a little as you pinched his cheeks and squeezed them. He simply accepted it with a little smile, just like he always did whenever you cuddled him.
Eugene Koreshiki
He had insisted he’d stay with you even though you weren’t feeling well. Usually being on your period meant telling everyone to keep the energy down for a week but Eugene had flat out refused to leave your apartment, telling you that he wouldn’t leave you alone when you were on your period.
He had brought and refilled your hot water bag at least five times by now, had gone out to the store to buy chocolate and some more pads and had cuddled with you and put on a romance movie. By the point where he had changed into his pyjamas, you knew you had picked the best and cutest boyfriend on this earth.
You watched him enter your room again, untying his hair. “You know my parents won't allow you to sleep in the same room as me, don’t you?” You chuckled. “Yeah, I already set up some blankets and pillows on the couch in the living room.” He spoke as he let himself fall down on the bed next to you. He had opened his ponytail but kept the bangs clipped up. You laughed. “You really don’t need to go that far. It’s not like I’m sick or something.” He shook his head in response. “If I was going to quit, then I should have done so three hours ago. By now I’m just too lazy to take the late buy home.” He grinned and gave you a small kiss.
“Ahh, so you’re just doing duty work so you can stay over?” You teased, and he nodded. “Yep. Absolutely.” You couldn’t keep a slow smile from spreading as you looked at him. “Koreshiki,” “Oh you haven’t called me by my last name in more than a year. That sounds weird.” He chuckled. “Take the clip out of your bangs.” He raised an eyebrow. “Why?” “C’mon, I never see you without it.” You reached up to undo the clip, and he didn’t stop you.
His hair fell down into his eyes. There was a dent in the shape where his clip usually sat. It looked so sweet. “Hey that’s such a cute look, Eugene.” You played with his strands. “Thanks but it feels really annoying to have all that hair in my face.” He responded as a way of explaining that’s why I don’t do it. “Then why did you even cut yourself bangs?” You asked, now beginning to squish his cheeks. “It was a rather impulsive decision a few years ago. I wouldn’t call it an act of rebellion, but maybe something close to that? My mom didn’t want me to cut my own bangs. She might have been right, though, cause I hate having hair in my face.” He chuckled, not minding your hands in his face.
“Sometimes you can be such an idiot Eugene, even though you’re so intelligent.” You laughed “It’s cute. You’re cute.” He laughed softly. “I’m cute? Are you supposed to say that to guys?” You shrugged and kissed him. “I don’t care. Either way, you’re a cutie.” You laughed and kissed him again. He pressed a kiss into your hair. “You’re weird.”
Hii!! I’m the anon who asked for the phanbus date headcanons :3 I hope you don’t mind if I ask more! Includes: Mogari, Tamon, Kanzaki, Koreshiki (in order)
Mogari Shishikuno
Koreshiki had said earlier that he wouldn’t be coming to the clubroom this break, Tamon was sick at home, and Kanzaki had gone to the toilet a few minutes ago, so now it was just you and Mogari. Both of you sat in your respective spaces, you on a chair by the table and him on the couch, both scrolling on your phones.
“Hey,” Mogari spoke your name. You lowered your phone and looked up. “Yeah?” You asked. “Y’know.. uh..” He looked away. You furrowed your brows. It wasn’t at all likely for Mogari to look away nervously like a shy school girl.
He ran a hand through his already messy head of jet black hair. You wondered if it was soft. It looked soft. And shiny. His skin was also shiny, maybe a little oily even, but it looked good on him. You forced your thoughts back on what he was trying to tell you.
“I feel like this sounds a bit stupid when I say it like this, but I-“ A sudden crash interrupted him, and both of your heads snapped aside to where the noise had come from.
You couldn’t see or speak with ghosts like Tamon and Kanzaki could, and you couldn’t exorcise them like Mogari could, but you could at the very least sense their presence and quite reliably pinpoint their location. So the moment your head had spun, the presence of a ghost settled heavily in your senses.
It had knocked over your bag that you had deposited on the counter. You hoped your bottle hadn’t broken. “What’s over there?” Mogari asked in the serious tone that his voice always switched to when dealing with ghosts. “It seems like a tall and brawly ghost? I’m not fully sure.” You spoke while already shifting into Mogaris direction, keeping your eyes pinned on the patch of air where you could sense the phantom.
Mogari reached out to you, you did your best not to draw in a sharp breath when instead of your shoulder, where his hand usually sat whenever you exorcised spirits together, he took your hand in his.
You could feel yourself burning but didn’t retract your hand. Instead, you tried to focus back on the presence, lest you lost it. Even so, his hand felt so hot in yours. It was hard to concentrate.
Neither of you looked at the other.
“Why are you in our clubroom?” Mogari asked the spirit, but since you hadn’t the power to speak with spirits or hear their responses, that was where the conversation ended. “I’ll exorcise it.” He spoke towards you, and you nodded, although on second thought you suspected but also hoped he hadn’t seen it. For one, his gaze was still pinned at the patch of presence by your bag, but you were also still burning.
Mogari walked towards the ghost, slowly but surely and for a few minutes you had to chase it around the room, you being dragged along by his warm hand, until he finally managed to grasp the spirit and dug his teeth into it. You turned your head away. Even when you could only sense it, it still felt weird to watch.
He turned towards you. Your hands were still intertwined. Your face still red. His too, appearantly. His cheeks were dusted in a light pink, but when he noticed that he was still holding your hand, it deepened into a red that covered his entire face. He flinched away from you, letting go.
“Sorry..” He looked away again. You could combust, honestly. Sometimes, you wished he was his careless confident self in more situations. You knew exactly what this was about. The tension between you had been tangible for weeks. If only he could be like he usually was when everyone else was around, then all of this wouldn’t be so difficult.
“So, what did you want to say earlier?” You asked, deliberately trying to steer the conversation back to where it had begun. “Oh! Of course, of course. Yes.” He took a breath. “I think it’s obvious, to be honest, but-“ The door clicked open. You only managed to spot Kanzaki for a second before Mogari pushed the door shut into his face, with a loud complaint about him interrupting. You fought a laugh back at the muffled snicker you could still hear behind the door.
“So?” You chuckled. Mogari paused for a second and then laughed softly. “You know, I just really like you.” Your eyes crinkled. “I know you do. I like you too.”
Tamon Kotarou
Tamon had actually asked you to come to the emergency stairs in the back of the school yard where he always used to go when he wanted to be alone. Sure enough, when you arrived, you saw him sitting there, waiting.
“Tamon? You wanted to talk.” You just hoped there were no problems. “Yeah actually. Uhm.. uh..” He looked to the floor. He had gotten a lot better at talking to people, especially with everyone in the club, but you did notice that whenever he felt nervous, he started stuttering and tried to look at inanimate objects. “Tamon..?” You took a step towards him.
Was it intelligent to sit down next to him? Would it be better if you kept standing where you were right now? Maybe it’d be easier for him to speak when he wasn’t facing you, though. You lightly shook your head at yourself and sat down next to him.
“This is a bit hard for me to say.” He chuckled nervously. “Uhm.. Do you remember the uh.. the CD shop where we went? It was a bit ago but…” You nodded. “Yeah, I do. What about it?” “It’s like… that’s where I- no wait…” He stumbled over his words, attempting to get them in order. “Hold on for a sec.” He adjusted his cap and stared the dirt under your feet down with such determination. You wouldn’t have been very surprised if he had made it move.
“Okay.” He looked back up, glanced at you for a second, and quickly jerked his head back to keep looking at the dirt. “Okay.” He began again. “So… I have something to say.. Yes, uhm I-“ He stopped short when you both heard someone's steps.
A brown haired student walked by, looking at the scene with a little of a furrowed brow and silently kept walking. It was quiet until he turned the corner, and when you looked back at Tamon, he had his face buried in his hands.
“Tamon?” he hummed in an affirmative, high pitched tone. You couldn’t help but laugh a little. You reached up to grab his wrist and pull it down. He was completely red. “What did you want to say?” You asked as softly as you could. He shook his head and squeezed his eyes shut. You could actually see his face turn a nuance of a deeper red. “Hey, take a breath.” You reminded him. The green haired boy twisted away a little, but you could see him open his eyes and try to hide taking a deep breath with only a shallow motion. He took three deep breaths. You waited until he was ready.
When he looked back up, he was still a little flushed, which honestly looked cute on him. “I like you.” He finally spoke, and you grinned. “I like you too, Tamon.”
Kanzaki Kaoru
When Kanzaki had asked you to come to the cherry blossom trees in the courtyard of the school, you were pretty sure you got the gist of what was about to happen. Not that it hadn’t been obvious anyway, given how he’d acted for the past few weeks. It had really been a dead giveaway when you had come by his apartment to return a manga.
You found out that day that he lived with his sister, thanks to her having opened the door on his behalf. She had been incredibly surprised and told you that Kanzaki usually didn’t lend his manga to anyone. After that she had forcibly invited you in for some pastries and spent two hours talking to you about her brother, clearly implying that there was more to the relationship between the two of you, at least on his end.
He hadn’t been home that day. You hoped he would never find out about it for Hikarus sake and for yours to spare yourself the embarrassment.
“Hey, you asked for me?” You said as you approached him where he stood under the pink tree. “Yes, I did..” He rubbed the back of his neck nervously. “I wanted to tell you something, and I really, like, wanted to do this properly so..” He began, drifting off a little. The silver haired boy wasn’t looking at you. His head was tilted downwards to his shoes. “Alright..” He muttered more to himself than towards you.
He raised his head and looked you in the eyes with his own heterochrome ones, eyes you loved to look at. Sometimes embarrassingly long. Kanzakis hand dropped from his neck, and he took a breath to speak. “I-“ A sudden shout startled you both enough to flinch, hard. You turned to look where it came from, and sure enough, you could see your club members, specifically Mogari, leaning dangerously far out of a classroom window a few stories up.
He was waving and grinning. “Do it, Zaki!!” He yelled. You heard Kanzaki groan. When you turned to him, he had sunken into a squat, his lower face covered by his hands and his eyes briefly shut. His face glowed red. Thankfully, he didn’t have to explain Mogaris behaviour to you, seeing as you knew the black haired boy and his unhinged behaviour very well.
He looked up at you apologetically and embarrassed. “I- I was going to ask if you’d like to go out with me.” He breathed out. You thought you could notice a hint of amusement in his voice from how ridiculous Mogari had made the situation. You grinned and stretched a hand out to help him up “Gladly.”
Eugene Koreshiki
It was already beginning to dawn, and the two of you were still in school. The rest of the club had already long gone home, so now it was just the two of you in the clubroom, tidying up some paperwork that you had to hand in for the student council.
It was a comfortable atmosphere. Just you with the warm sun and the orange light falling in through the windows and the sound of papers shifting and pens scraping. It accentuated his haircolor and brought out the shine. His hair looked so healthy, you realized. You wondered if he’d let you touch it if you asked.
He looked up at you, and only when his green eyes that looked just a little bigger than they actually were, thanks to the glasses, met yours, you realized that you had been staring. Your pen had long been forgotten, even set down on the paper in front of you. You felt the heat rising into your cheeks as you picked the pen up again and gave him a grin.
You stuck your gaze back on the paper and tried to concentrate as much as possible on what you had already written.
Suddenly, Koreshikis voice broke the silence you had been basking in for the past hour. He spoke your name. You looked back up, a little surprised. He was smiling, gently. “This might come a little as a surprise-“ A gust of wind rushed in through the window.
Your hair hit your face, almost whipping right into your eye. With your other one, you briefly noticed the small stack of papers in the middle of the desk you had shared, being taken by the wind as well.
You quickly tucked your hair back. “Oh my god.” Your voice was a little raspy from not having spoken for so long. The both of you looked down on the papers scattered all over the floor. Koreshiki shook his head. “What a pain.” He sighed and dropped down on his knees to start collecting them again. You mimicked his movement and helped him.
“So what did you want to say?” You asked as you picked up the papers together. You could hear his breath falter for a second until he chuckled a little. “Earlier was the perfect time. If I say it like this, then it won’t be as casual as I meant it anymore.” He huffed amused. You raised a confused eyebrow at him. “There’s no wrong time to say something. We’re really just collecting paperwork from the floor. That’s not much of a different vibe than actually doing it.” You explained, and he smiled at you, nodding along a little.
“Yeah, I know. Still, I feel like it would have been at least cooler if I had done it before.” Koreshiki replied. “Whatever.” You interjected. “Just speak.”
He tilted his head a little. A few hairstrands fell behind his glasses. “I like you a lot. May I take you out on a date?” He smiled. You grasped the paper you had picked up extra tight just so it wouldn’t fall back down. “Absolutely.”
Hii!! I’m not sure if you take requests but could you do some phantom busters first kiss and/or first date headcanons/scenarios? LOVE UR WORK SMMM
Okay this ended up as a lot tbh, it's more all short stories rather than something small to read😭 it took me a bit cause I had to focus on exam in between but I'm finally done. Hope you love it! Also apologize for ooc characters and misspellings!
In this work are included: Kanzaki, Tamon, Mogari, Koreshiki (in order)
Kanzaki Kaoru
Your eyes trailed over the bookspines. He'd taken you to a manga cafe. A really cute one at that. The walls were lined with shelves, the front of the store was laid out with simple but stylish seats and tables, as well as a corner with armchairs
You had never been in a manga cafe, to be honest. Even though you loved manga, you had never before been tempted, but considering the cosiness of this small one, you thought you might revisit eventually. Apparently, it was also close to where Kanzaki lived, so you weren't at all opposed.
"It's small but it's really nice, I like to come here a lot." He spoke, and you nodded to that, combing your hair back with your fingers. "Yeah, it's cute." You replied, smiling.
Even though it wasn't audible in his voice, you saw it in the slight tension in his shoulders: he was nervous. Your eyes followed the way his fingers began to pick at the seam of his shirt.
His style was a lot better than you had expected. Most people in school didn't know how to dress outside of it, but Kanzaki had shown up with an oversized shirt that he had layered with a long sleeve in the same colour. He wore baggy cargos with a belt that seemed to be a fashion statement rather than for actual utility. A black crossbody bag topped off his outfit, and you were honestly impressed.
It made you feel like you hadn't dressed up nicely enough. You'd thrown yourself in your favourite pair of jeans, a tight top, and your go-to leather jacket, but you still didn't feel like you really measured up.
He stepped closer to the shelves. "Which genre do you want to read?" He asked, throwing you a look over his shoulder that was underlined by just the littlest bit of tension. You surpressed an amused chuckle. Cute.
"Uh, I don't really know. I like everything." You shrugged, lifting your shoulders lightly. It was true. You did like everything. But you also were aware that you were putting him in more of a fickle.
"I like everything too." He smiled. "Uhm, how about this one?" Kanzaki turned his face away from you and let his fingers brush over the spine of a manga, resting atop it. "It's good."
It was a romance manga. You had read it, it'd been a while ago but you wouldn't forget it. It had been a sugary sweet manga with a romance plot that had bordered on cliché on many fronts, yet it had been entrancingly easy to read. It was popular in the romance space, honestly nothing you'd expected a guy to suggest. It pulled up the corners of your mouth.
"Sure, you know this one?" You stepped next to him. You wanted to see his face. Why he was hiding it. You had an inkling of an idea that was quickly confirmed when you finally got a glimpse at him. He was flustered.
You couldn't hold back a chuckle. He was so cute. His heterochromatic eyes were averted, and his mouth trembled a little with the effort to not smile nervously. Kanzakis eyes found yours. "Yeah, I read it when it first came out." He admitted. You guessed this was the kind of thing he wasn't used to telling his friends.
"Me too." You felt your eyes crinkle a little with excitement. "It's such a cute manga." Your vision was filled with his purple-green irises. You forced your gaze away and grabbed for the manga, too, brushing his hand as you pulled it out of the shelf.
"Let's sit down in one of the armchairs?" You suggested
You ended up finding a small, black leather couch to sit on. It was hidden between two shelves and provided a protected and more private, as well as more space than the armchairs up front by the window to the street.
His side was pressed up against yours. The manga in his hands tilted towards you so that the both of you could read together. You'd taken the liberty to glance at his face and had discovered with an inadequate amount of glee that his cheeks were dusted red. It was inadequate, considering you felt your own face burning. The heat of his hand brushed your leg every time he flipped the page. You stared at the pages, reading together in a comfortable but definitely charged silence.
You occasionally wondered if he was even reading the manga. Sometimes, it took him an unfit amount of time to flip to the next page.
You didn't know how much time passed like that, you only noticed time passed at all, when you'd almost fallen asleep and his hand was a sudden touch at your arm. You realized you'd woken up when you blinked the sleep away from your eyes. Maybe you should be embarrassed, but you were honestly too sleepy to think of it.
"We should go home. It's getting late." He spoke, his voice low and a little raspy from being unused. "Yeah, okay." You answered almost automatically and stood up with him.
He put the manga back to where it had been. Your brain was still rebooting, but you noticed the tension in his movements had ceased. Your own tension had ceased as well.
He walked you home, the both of you stilled just a few metres before your house.
He nervously ran his fingers through his hair. "It was fun." He gifted you a crooked smile. You returned it. "Very much." By now, it was dark. You were so tired. "Thank you for today." You added.
Silence eloped. Your eyes were stuck on his. Too stuck. He took a step closer. You heard his foot shuffle over the pavement. "Is- is this okay..?" He asked, suddenly seeming a little unsure again. You nodded, almost entranced. You felt his hand on your upper arm as he leaned down and kissed you. It was nothing more than an innocent peck, but you felt the burn in your face. His lips were soft. The feeling left before you had enough time to process it fully. His heat left your face again. "Uhm, until uh.. tomorrow?" You managed to speak. He nodded, a content smile pulling his mouth up ever so slightly. "Yeah, till then."
Tamon Kotaro
You knew Tamon had a problem talking to people. Honestly, you had never expected he'd ask you out. Yet you found yourself here, in a park, awaiting his presence a little anxiously. What would a date with him be like? Was there anything you had to look out for to not overstep any boundaries? You took a deep breath. Okay, you shouldn't overthink it. It'll all work out. Surely he'll let you know if there's anything.
You looked around the park and spotted him waiting nearby with his headphones covering his ears and his phone in his hand. Okay, you got this.
You approached him with a smile that was a little more polite than you would've liked. Too polite smiles always come across so distant.
He looked up from his phone and quickly shut it off. You thought you saw a glimpse of the weather app before the screen went black, and he pulled his headphones down, resting them around his neck.
You immediately noticed his casual sporty outfit, which consisted of a tight green training shirt that stretched nicely around his body and dark blue shorts.
Your eyes snapped up to his and amusingly got to watch him visibly swallow. "Hi." You spoke. "Hi, uhm, you look -" You could almost see his voice giving out. His hand found the pulse point on his wrist, massaging his thumb into it. "You look good." He managed, choking it out a little.
You granted him a smile that fully masked your concern for how the rest of the date was supposed to go if he already had such a hard time talking.
You were glad about the compliment though, you had stared at yourself a full ten minutes in your mirror earlier that day and wondered if the white skirt and blue sweater were a good combination.
"So, where should we go?" You asked. Should you be initiating so much conversation? You didn't want him to feel uncomfortable. Then again, it was a date, and he invited you so..
"I- uhm, I thought like-.. Do you like music?" He stuttered. Honestly, in a way, his stutter was endearing. You nodded. "I love music." You answered enthusiastically and watching him finger his headphones self consciously. "So, I was thinking - I thought maybe.. maybe a CD shop?" He asked more than stated, but you quickly agreed. Maybe you should take up the part of talking for this one.
You tried talking as much and casually as possible on the way to the shop, pointedly without asking too many questions, though you kept the topic light. You went into intricate detail about your morning and the mental quarrel you'd had about picking out your outfit. You knew you'd slap yourself later for embarassingly oversharing that much, but that was later. Judging by the content expression on his face, he didn't mind.
The CD shop was a little worn down but it brought about an air of comfort that you really enjoyed. It was a flight of stairs that led down towards the door, from an alley by a main street. It was dimly lit, and honestly, the inside smelt a little concerningly moist, but those were all details that were overshadowed by the actual collection they offered.
On the left side, there were many tables and shelves with CDs that rivalled the right side of the shop, which was laid out in vinyls. Behind it, you could spot a corner with guitars as well that were close to where an old, silver haired cashier had made a desk into his cash register.
"It's a little run down - I hope you don't mind." He smiled apologetically. "I don't mind. It's comfortable." You replied quickly lest he thought you didn't like it. Then again, maybe you responded too quickly, so he thought you were lying? Holy hell.
A vinyl on your right side caught your attention, and despite your immediate mental slap for it, you gasped and picked it up to observe it closer. "I love this band! They make such good music, they're kinda punk rock coded, but it's still, in a way, calm music in itself - this album has to be one of my favorites." You exclaimed, whipping around to Tamon despite your brain telling you to calm the fuck down, you're gonna scare the guy off.
Tamon, though, looked just as excited. "I know, right? This album is such a good one, personally though I prefer one of their earlier ones." He grabbed for a vinyl with a mainly yellow cover. "This one, I love it. It's a bit less popular than that one," he pointed at the vinyl you held,"but it's so good." You grinned, placing grabbing for another album when you spotted it. "I know this isn't the same band but this -" you showed it off to him. His eyebrows shot up a little, clearly excited. "It is their most popular album for a reason. Did you know that the idea behind the album was to show that there's hope in chaos?" He asked, and your head cocked to the side almost on its own accord. "Oh really? I didn't know, but it makes sense considering that one of the songs was for his ex-girlfriend to beat cancer. It's really endearing, to be honest." You grinned and set the record down.
"Let's see the CDs though, I saw some japanese bands in there, I think the vinyls are mostly Western music?" You wondered, and he nodded along as you both started inspecting the CDs.
One caught your eye. "Oh, that's 8BeatShift! I love their music!" You picked it up, but when this time Tamon didn't immediately react, you glanced at him, maybe a little more questioningly than you might have liked to will your expression to be. "Yeah they're- they're amazing." He answered. He smiled, a little tensely? Does he not like the band? Or worse, does he hate it and considered you weird for liking it?
"I-" "They're -" you both began simultaneously, cutting yourselves off. "Go ahead." You gestured towards him to speak. "No - no, you can - you go ahead. Really." He gestured towards you, and you noticed his thumb had gone back to massaging the inside of his wrist. Maybe he wasn't feeling good? Isn't the inside of the wrist a pressure point to relieve nausea? Or maybe just a nervous habit.
When you unintentionally stayed silent, too enraptured in your own thinking process, he began to speak. "I uhm, I like - really like the band. I, uhm, I- I used to play their songs with friends." He stuttered. "Really? Can you still play the songs?" He nodded in response. "I- I can show you- uhm, yeah." He gestured towards the guitars at the back of the shop. Your eyes followed his hand. Then you smiled. "That would be really cool." He nodded again, and he picked up one of the guitars a little stiffly.
What hadn't been visible to you earlier was that there were two small stools in the corner, of which he now pulled one closer to sit down on with his guitar.
You pulled the other towards yourself as well and watched him. His upper body was bent over the guitar as he was making sure the sound was right. It made his tight shirt stretch tauntingly over his chest. But it also emphasised the fact that the stiffness was slowly leaving him again.
Then he began playing. He was surprisingly good. Not that it was surprising that he was good, but he was talented more than most people tended to be with the guitar, and honestly, it sounded almost like the real thing. When he finished the first song, you clapped and laughed, urging him to play more and promising to sing along, to which he also joined in.
He had played most of the songs on the album when his guitar pick fell to the ground. "Oh!" You spoke playfully, bending down to reach for it, only he reached for it too. And when you bumped your heads and came up again, you were suddenly way too close. How did that happen? You felt your nose dig into his cheek and your lips brush, no, not brush, clash against his.
The both of you startled backwards. Your hand flew to your mouth. His lips had been soft, except the drier patches on his inner lip had scraped a little roughly over your lips - not the time to think about this! Your face and chest burnt with embarrassment. This can't be happening. This can't have happened.
When you looked up, you found him just as red. If only you hadn't bent down to get that for him, he could've very well gotten the pick himself! It was always this way. It was always this way with you. You always managed to embarrass yourself endlessly. You made him uncomfortable-
You stopped short when he suddenly laughed? His face was still as red as you predicted. Your own face probably was, but he was laughing. He brought his hands up to hide his face in them, still you could clearly hear his snorts.
Finally, he brought his hands down on his lap and understandably kept his eyes on them rather than on you. "I'm sorry, I just - I imagined my first kiss different?" He spoke, and you thought you would have gone red from the tips of your ears down to your very toes if it had been possible. "Yeah, yeah I- me too." You all but squeaked, but somehow it was amusing. You joined his laughter. It was safe to say you would ask him for a second date afterwards.
Mogari Shishikuno
He asked you if you'd give him a tour around Tokyo since he was new, in other words: a date. A sightseeing date. Except you had the worst sense of orientation a human could possibly have.
You had agreed, of course. After all, you knew him from class. He was funny and good-looking as well, as he was smart, as much as that seemed a little unbelievable. The only issue was that he had a little bit of a weird hobby considering his club, and you still didn't fully believe that they executed supernaturals, but you were willing to overlook that.
You thought it'd be a cute date. Some calm walking around, shopping for trinkets in Tokyo Tower and following that up with a tour through the imperial palace and then walk through the sidestreets of Tokyo in search of a nice restaurant with good food, maybe even end the day at the beach back in Kamakura.
How wrong you were.
It had been cute in the beginning, you'd slipped into some shorts, your favorite shoes and a long sleeved turtleneck, grabbed your things, stuffed them in your bag and took the bus all the way to Kamakuras central train station where the two of you said you'd meet.
You'd seen him dressed in a simple all black shirt and jeans outfit, greeted each other, and talked a lot while you took the train to central Tokyo.
The issues began when you got off.
Somehow your mind had convinced itself it still remembered the way from Akabanebashi train station to Tokyo Tower which was a false assumption because you did not and the only reason you always had made in there in one piece had always been the fact that your friends went with you and actually knew the way.
So, with the orientation skills of a broken compass, you managed to lead the two of you the complete opposite way, right through dark alleys that looked a little more than just shady.
You'd walked and walked and at some point you had given up and just used google maps, only to get lost even further and you felt so bad for him except he didn't seem to care much.
In fact, he kept talking and going on and on about something or the other while you fell deeper and deeper into the fact that you were lost and it was your fault and you had just absolutely ruined the entire date.
He hadn't seemed to realize.
Finally, at some point, you turned to him. "I'm sorry, uhm, I think I got us lost." You said, lips pressed together. "Huh? Why would we be lost?" He asked, and it took you everything in you to not give him the most incredulous look you've ever shot. You had just shown him the ugliest alleys of Tokyo that you were sure were some kind of gangster territory, and he asked why you would be lost? This had to be a joke.
You felt your face burning with embarrassment when you gestured around yourself. "I- I don't know where we are." You all but laughed out, only because of the absurdity of it. You'd lived your whole life in this city. "You should've probably asked one of the other girls, like Megumi or something. She knows her way around well.." You admitted, averting your gaze. "But I dont want to go with anyone just to show me around, I like you so I wanted to go with you. That's all." He stated, simple, clear, and surprisingly confident. You forced yourself to not dwell on the fact that he told you he liked you. "Oh, uh.. but the date is ruined." At your words, he grinned, his lips stretching over his prominent canines that almost reminded of a wolf. Then he pointed behind you. "Doesn't look that way to me, though?"
Your eyebrows knitted, and your eyes followed his finger. Then you halted. Because he was right, the alleyway ended in a shopping district. You turned back to him. "Uhm.."
He grinned, but this time, it was different. His face showed clearly that he understood the situation and just wanted you to feel at ease. "Let's check it out?" He asked, tilting his head a little. You nodded. "Yeah - yeah."
Neither of you really knew where exactly you were, but that was okay. It was fun. He wanted to go shop for clothes. At first, you thought he'd meant for himself, and then you found out that wasn't the case at all. He just wanted to shop for you.
"Hey, I think that would look great on you." He laughed and pulled a see-through shirt from a clothing rack. You shook your head, laughing. "Oh god, how is anyone even supposed to wear that?"
You were just observing at a white top, him looking elsewhere, when he approached with a stack of clothes on his arm. "Let's get you to the changing rooms, come on." You let yourself be dragged away from the top and into the changing rooms, accepting the clothes from him.
Now that you had laid it out, it looked like a lot less than it did initially. It was a blue dress, pink top and some shorts. All of which you noticed were items that you had looked at and even gone back to again, thinking about buying them. He really had paid so much attention? How endearing.
The first thing you tried on was the pink top. It was a simple but pretty off shoulder sweater. You couldn't deny that it looked good. This was definitely going on your list of things to buy next time you came to the store. You had almost already taken it off again when you heard Mogari telling you to step out and show him too. You didn't let your eyes keep to the blushed image in the mirror too long. Instead, you made a mental note to apply less blush next time. And more foundation. When you stepped out of the dressing room, he sat there on one of the small stools. He didn't seem to be any less relaxed when you came out, but something about him changed. His tongue darted out to lick over the side of his mouth. "Do you.. like it?" You asked a little awkwardly, instictively averting your eyes as a hand came up to play with the sweater. "Yeah, looks great." He grinned. You smiled.
The shorts lived the same fate, and you actually had a lot of fun until you got to the dress. The dress was beautiful. No question about that. Only dresses were hard to get right, and you felt like none actually looked good on you. So when you picked up the blue dress, you thought about not even putting it on at all.
It was a light blue with relatively thick straps that ended in a thick material around the bust. From there on, it cinched the waist and went down in a light fabric.
Fuck it. You could try it on at least.
You gave yourself one last twirl in the mirror before you, a little shyly, opened the door. Your hand rested on the doorhandle, searching for hold.
The black haired boy raised his eyebrows, and for the first time that day, he looked caught off guard. Again, you noticed how his tongue came out to wet the corner of his lips. A nervous habit? It seemed like it.
"You look georgous." You felt the heat rushing to your face and nervously began fanning yourself some air. "Thanks. I think I'll buy it." Which was true, but absolutely a spur of the moment decision you had based on his opinion a little more than you might've liked. "Perfect, then let's pay and go for that cinnamon roll shop we saw on the way." He grinned, his playful attitude returning.
He ended up paying. As much as you tried to fight him on it, he paid for all three articles. And then he also made you wait by the main street and had come back with a white grocery bag and a small but pretty boquet of pink roses.
"It's getting a bit dark, so let's go back to Kamakura. Is that okay with you?" He asked, nodding at the sky. "Yeah, it is." You almost sighed. You supposed it really was time to wrap this up. Even though you didn't really want to.
"Uhm, the way to the train station..." You dug for your phone. "I know the way, just follow me." He spoke before you could actually take hold of it. He knows the way? How? You didn't even know the way - obviously you didn't - but you were the one who'd led you down the maze of alleys and side streets in the first place.
Sure enough, he found the way back with an ease you were almost a little bit jealous of.
The train ride was calming, cinnamon smell wafting around you, the roses cold and still damp in your hands.
Finally, you got off in Kamakura, taking the shortest way from the station to the beach.
The sand was still warm from the hot climate earlier that day, even though the evening was cool, almost cold. Your fingers rubbed over it as you sat down in it.
Mogari let himself down next to you, placing the shopping bag he'd insisted on carrying into the sand and set the grocery bag that you had almost forgotten about on his lap. You could make out two square boxes inside. "You hungry?" He asked, and now that he mentioned it, you really were. You hadn't eaten all day. "Yeah, I am."
He took out both of the boxes, and you recognized the lavender packaging and iridescent logo on top that had been the signature colour of the more expensive cinammon store of the two you had passed. Your eyes grew wide.
"Wait, did you actually buy those? You didn't have to, oh my god, they were expensive." Your hand flew up to your mouth. He grinned, his licking over his prominent canine. "They weren't expensive at all." He spoke, and you thought he was either rich with no perception of what was expensive or he was just trying to be cool. Either way, it worked.
You carefully took one of the boxes and the plastic fork that had come with it and opened it up to a still warm cinnamon roll. Immediately, you could feel your hunger starting to make itself unbearable. "That looks so good." You muttered. "I know, right?" Mogari grinned and opened his own box.
Both of them were classic cinnamon rolls, the best kind in your humble opinion. They were delicious.
You sat in a comfortable silence for a bit, both eating the sweets. You noticed he'd finished his lenghts before you did, but you didn't mind. At some point, you had both taken to looking out where the dark horizon and the sea seemed to merge.
You didn't know how it happened, but you sat closer now. Your hand touched his in the sand, and he'd draped his jacket over your shoulders to protect you from the cold wind.
"It's getting late." He spoke quietly, almost uncharacteristically soft. "It is." You returned in the same tone. "You got a deadline?" You chuckled and shook your head. "No, since it's the weekend, I don't." He hummed in response.
"I moved to Kamakura not long ago, I used to live in the mountains before." He began. "I never saw the beach before coming here. It's kind of.." he paused, and you looked at him. His cheeks were red. He was showing you a side he didn't usually let people see. He wasn't the same class clown that blurted out whatever came to his mind and did anything just to annoy his friends. "..it's kind of romantic." He finished, and you knew your own face turned a little pink. "Yeah, you're right." You returned after a beat. You felt his hand shift where it touched yours. "I don't know if I'm doing this right -" he turned to you. "I'm usually a bit impulsive, but I don't think this is something I should be impulsive about?" His palm was in yours now, open and giving you the option to either clasp your fingers around it or retract your hand. You threaded your fingers through his.
"Can I.. kiss you?" He asked. You fought down a chuckle as you stared into his black eyes and nodded. "Yes." You all but whispered. You felt his mouth over yours, and despite all your self-doubt earlier that day, you were glad you got lost with him. Somehow, it felt like you couldn't have played your cards any better.
Eugene Koreshiki
Honestly, when he had offered you to study with him, you had been a little embarrassed. Your english performance was more than just bad, and with exams coming up, you didn't have much of a choice on agreeing. Although, you would've said yes either way. In no universe would you have turned down a date with the guy you've been eyeing for the past few months.
You'd decided on the white button-up from your uniform and some brown jeans before you headed to the library.
Koreshiki stood there, waiting in front of it. You noticed he also wore the uniforms button up with beige chinos and a cardigan. His hair was clipped and tied backwards like always. Even though it was very casual and similar to how he looked in school, he still looked good.
He perked up when he saw you. "Hi! You look very pretty today." He waved and gave a kind smile. One of his hands held onto the bag slung over his shoulder.
"Oh, thank you." You smiled, undeniably a bit flustered. "Let's head inside?" You nodded and followed him into the library.
The two of you set your things down on a table, and even though Koreshiki was easy to talk to, you still felt a little awkward unpacking your things.
Even if the date idea was cute, you knew you were absolutely about to embarrass yourself.
"So, what do you struggle with in english?" He asked. That was one question you hated. You couldn't really respond with everything, but it kinda was everything? You just had no idea what issue to pinpoint. "Uhm.. how about we just go over everything we'll need for the exam?" You suggested. "Okay then, let's start with the times?" "Sure, let's do that."
You had expected studying english with a native english speaker to be a little mortifying. Unexpectedly, it was a lot less bad than you expected. Instead of judgemental or incredulous looks, he offered kind smiles and always said that it was okay to mess up because messing up was a part of improving. Personally, you thought that just sounded a little like something a grandmother would say.
You also discovered that Koreshiki might be native but also had no clue how most tenses were formed just by hearing their names. Instead, he always and not very discreetly looked up an example sentence and worked from there on.
Another thing you discovered was that even though he was one of the best students in class, he really couldn't teach, so you were more basking in each others presence than actually getting any proper studying done. Although he had given you some significantly helpful tips, too.
Eventually, you started getting distracted, and the school papers had soon been forgotten in lieu of a conversation about traditional english dishes and Koreshikis life growing up in england.
"In kindergarten and elementary school, we would always bring scones when it was someone's birthday. It was a lot of fun, actually." He explained. "Ahh, scones? We talked about those in english class." He laughed. "Yeah, we did. It feels a little alienating to read about in the textbook, but it's funny, I suppose." He pushed up his glasses. Which reminded you.
"Koreshiki, could you take off your glasses really quick?" You asked. "Hm? Why?" He asked, and you shrugged a little embarrassed. "Just wanna see what you look like without them." He chuckled. "Alright." He picked them off his face and held them out to you. "Then you have to try them on." You laughed, caught off guard. "Me, try them on?" You asked a little distracted by taking in his face without glasses.
His eyes were a little bigger and definitely more visible. It seemed a little off for him not to have his glasses, but it brought out his face a lot more. Especially the green in his irises.
"Yeah, that's the trade, I guess?" You couldn't say no considering how he smiled at you. "Fine then." You carefully took the glasses by the rim and placed them on your face. The heaviness felt odd on your nosebridge, and you feared you looked stupid when you looked up at him.
"So?" You asked, a little nervously tucking back a strand of hair. "It definitely wouldn't hurt you if you had to start wearing glasses." He chuckled and carefully took them off your face to place back on his nose.
"At least I'll know who to consult if I should ever slowly start to go blind." You laughed, and he grinned at you. "I expect to get invited to picking out the frames." He returned. "Oh, I will -" you interrupted yourself when you saw the stern looking librarian standing by your desk.
"Excuse me, I'm glad you're having fun, but please be a little quieter so you won't disturb the other customers." The both of you dutifully nodded and apologized, but as soon as she had moved out of earshot again, you fell into a fit of giggles.
"Alright, let's get out of here before she chases us out." He laughed and started packing his stuff back into his bag, just as you did as well.
When you exited, you both gave the librarian one last apologetic look before setting the library behind you.
"Okay, you were a worse teacher than I thought." You accused him, amused. He turned back to you in faux offence. "Me, a bad teacher? Maybe you're just a bad student." He quipped as you began walking somewhere. You didn't quite know where to. "Hey, I'm just saying, if you were a good teacher, you could teach a bad student." You defended yourself, throwing your hands up into the air. "Well, sue me for not being able to get it through your thick head." He laughed, moving closer to bump your shoulder.
"If I fail this exam, it's your fault." You joked. "Right, my fault. I think if you fail this exam you should be put into cram school instead." "Maybe you and me both, seeing as you have to google what the tenses are before you use them." You laughed and bumped his shoulder back. "Hey, I know the tenses! I just don't give them names in my head!" He replied quickly. "Yeah, you just use it how your gut tells you to." You rolled your eyes playfully. "I really do, believe me." He attempted to speak seriously but ended up laughing it out.
You looked up at him, grinning. Oh, he was so much more fun than you had anticipated. Also, much more beautiful up close, now that you were really looking at him.
"You're pretty." You blurted out. Fuck, fuck? Perfect moment for your head to mouth filter to absolutely shut off. His head all but whipped around. "Oh, thanks. You are too." He responded, pushing his glasses up a little. His cheeks were red.
You kept walking in silence for a while. To your house, appearantly, since it was dawning and he didn't want to bring you home after dark since that was ungentlemanly and a greater risk than it needed to be.
At your doorstep, he halted. "It was a lot of fun, uhm, I have something for you, actually." He dug in his bag and brought out a small square shaped tin box. "It's just tea leaves, but it's my favourite from england. I thought it'd be appropriate for the occasion?" He smiled, referring to the date. Your eyebrows shot up, and you bit down on the inside of your lip as you received it. "I uh," you had nothing for him. You didn't think he'd bring a present.
When you looked up at him, your brain seemed wiped. Except for one idea.
"You don't have to give me anything. It was a spur of the moment decision before I left the house, I know it's not common, so.." Oh, you were about to make a spur of the mkment desicion as well. Arguably a less safe one than gifting tea leaves. "I- I have something to..." Your face was burning, but you were tactically ignoring it.
He raised his eyebrows, surprised. "You do?" You nodded slowly. "Yes, so.." You didn't finish your sentence, stepping closer and letting one of your hands find hold on his shoulder, atop his soft vest.
You rolled up on the balls of your feet until your faces were close, way too close. And your heart felt like it was about to jump out of your mouth, but you forced yourself to leave a little space between your lips, giving him the chance to pull away.
A beat passed. You were almost going to roll back, flat on your feet, when suddenly you felt his hand at your waist, gently pulling you closer and closing the gap between you. You felt his breath ghost over your cheek, his soft, warm lips on yours and his cologne wafting into your nose. He pulled away and smiled softly. "See you?" He asked gently. "Tomorrow in the library at five?" You asked stupidly. He laughed and nodded. "Yeah, til tomorrow at five. Hopefully, the english lesson will be a little more successful then." He gave a last wave, and before you knew it, he was already gone, leaving you standing there, still a little stunned. That really just happened.
IM SO OBSESSED WITH HOW U WRITEEE could you please do a mogari x reader where they get together but no one believes mogari when he tells anyone about it? It might be nice if the reader was already in the club or something
THANK YOUU I'm sorry this took so long, I have a hard time writing Mogari and also I had this in my drafts and lowk forgot about it... anyway it's finished now!! Enjoy!
Mogari was your best friend. For sure. You went over to his place often, so you didn’t think anything of it when he’d shot you a text to come over and watch a movie with him. Apparently, a childhood series you had both watched had finally been converted into an action comedy movie. Since he had subscriptions to more than enough streaming services, it was only natural to watch in his home. He had even banished Ren to spend time with Noir and not bother you.
It had been fun as always. You had watched, and Mogari, like the person he is, couldn’t keep himself from commenting on the actions while you did your best to keep yourself from bursting out laughing. Even if you did anyway. At one point, you had laughed so hard, you had missed a crucial turning point in the story, and then that had been it. You had no clue anymore what was even happening. You didn’t mind it. You guessed you could just rewatch it again at some point without Mogaris weird humour disturbing.
When the movie came to a calm end and Mogari had nothing to say anymore, and you had nothing to laugh about anymore, you were just sitting with each other, basking in each other’s presence. Your abs hurt from laughing, and you felt his warmth pressed up against your body. The characters on screen were saying something about the moon that neither of you understood the context of but still watched.
His head dipped and fell on your shoulder. You carefully looked over, making sure the movement wouldn’t wake him. His eyes fluttered open anyway before they shut again. His hair tickled your cheek, and you moved to brush it out of your face.
When you combed his soft, black strands backwards, he looked up at you. His eyes were tired, a healthy not-so subtle flush of colour contoured his cheeks and undereyes and accented his red irises. You could feel the heat promptly washing over your own face. He spoke your name in a sleepy voice. You hummed in response.
“Be my girlfriend.”
You sucked in a slow breath of air and felt your eyes grow wide. The casualness of his words somehow contrasted yet fit the situation perfectly. Your own awkwardness was going to ruin the atmosphere, you knew.
“Huh?”
He sat up. “I like you more than a friend. I can’t just be a friend of yours. If you don’t want to be together with me that’s fine, though.” He explained, his face earnest as it always was when he was serious for once. You shook your head- then you nodded then you thought about which of the both would be the appropriate motion for Yes, I want to be your girlfriend and No, I don’t want to not be together with you. You attempted at another motion of the head and then aborted the idea.
“No- yes, I do. I do want to be your girlfriend.” You watched the process of his face quite literally lighting up as a grin spread over his sharp canines. He laid back down against your shoulder, and as you leaned back into the arm of the couch more, he ended up more settled by your chest than your shoulder anymore.
“Do you want to come to the beach with us tomorrow?” He asked as if you wouldn’t have been invited anyways. You had quite literally seenthe message in the club chat earlier that day. “Yeah. That would be cool.” He giggled. “Okay, I’ll tell the other's” He pulled out his phone and wrote a message into the group chat. A few seconds later, you heard notifications come from his phone, as well as your own.
He gasped. “Koreshiki says ‘there is no way you have a girlfriend. Stop living in delusions.’ And oh my god, Zaki said he’s also going to bring his girlfriend?” You perked up. You had thought they were all too much of losers to get girlfriends. Well, Mogari had counted to them until now. “Nevermind, he sent a picture of some anime girl figurine he has on his shelf. What a weirdo.” You laughed. “I mean it is Zaki, so…”
“Oh, Tamon asked if he could bring his new… ghost situationship? I swear, he has to stop bonding with dead people. He also wrote that he thinks my girlfriend is an implication for the box of cup ramen we bought together yesterday.” Mogari looked up from his phone, at you, and you both burst out into laughter simultaneously. “What an Idiot.”
may I request for exes to lovers with TAMON pls? THANK YOUU SO MUCH
Okay this ones really long compared to my other ones, I think we're at about ~3k Words. Enjoy🤭
He was like a damn curse. He could be all but a phantom that followed you wherever you went. You knew it was just your heightened awareness of him that made you notice him in every single room, in the courtyard, in the neighbourhood you shared. Still, it felt like he was everywhere.
You had broken up with Tamon two months ago, and you had tried to move on after getting over your initial grieving phase, but moving on was so hard, especially when you kept seeing him. It made you finally understand why people hated their exes. It made it easier to move on or at least pretend to have.
But you couldn’t hate Tamon. Not after having seen his real self that he didn’t show to others. The boy with an affinity to music, his anxieties that you’d helped him deal with, the headphones that he always kept somewhere on himself, not even turning on music sometimes. You had bought him new headphones, his old ones had been so worn out.
You couldn’t deny, though, that after breaking up, you tried to build as much distance as possible. Honestly, you couldn’t properly tell anymore what the breakup had been about. It had gone so well, too well. You had never fought, but you felt like that was what had been the problem. It had always felt a little like walking on eggshells, both equally as hesitant to really, truly show themselves as you were, with all your bite and bark. So, as close as you had been, neither of you had ever really settled into the relationship.
You spent a lot of time asking yourself if maybe it would have been better if you had waited a few more months and gauged from there on if it would work out or not. Maybe a few months later, you would have settled into it, been more comfortable around each other.
You shook your head to yourself. Worrying about what you could’ve done was pointless. You needed to look forward. See how you’d deal with the situation. How you’d best go out of his way. That’s also something you told yourself over and over. Never really something that worked very well, though.
Class had commenced not long ago, you were busy staring at the strawberry charm on your bag. Another thing about Tamon that haunted you everywhere you went. This one was on you, though. You couldn’t bring yourself to take it off the bag.
It had been a present he’d given you for valentines Day. The strawberry charm, along with a small, heart shaped box of chocolate, covered strawberries he’d made himself. You wondered if he gave himself the fault for the breakup. You hoped he didn’t. You had told him back then that it wasn’t his fault.
The teacher was upfront, talking about something organizational. You weren’t really listening until you noticed one of your friends whipping around to you with a big grin. You smiled back, a little confused. She, of course, sensed your confusion and nodded to the teacher, essentially telling you to pay attention to what he’s saying. You obeyed, focusing on him.
“The presentation should be between twenty and thirty minutes long with two to three people working together. It depends on how many you are. The main topic is movement and culture. You can interpret that in any way you’d like, as long as it is connected to that topic. I’ll go around the class collecting your wishes later.” Your head snapped to your friend, and she grinned at you, pointing at herself and then and you. You nodded enthusiastically.
“Oh and also,” the teacher said as he tidied up his papers. “I will assign the groups myself.” You froze. A collective groan went through the class, but you were busy trying not to feel sick from nervosity. You absolutely did not want to be paired with Tamon. Oh, great heavens, please. How awkward that’d be, how uncomfortable. It’d pale in comparison to how it was before the breakup.
“I will read the names out now. They’re picked according to the class list, so don’t paint me as the villain if you don’t end up with who you want to.” You groaned inside. Heavily. The class list wasn’t good. Not at all. Tamons name was *right* below yours on the class list. Oh fuck.
You didn’t even listen to the teacher reading out names until yours fell. In pair with Tamons. You wanted to sink into a chair and actually die. Not die, though. Maybe turn into a spirit for a while, like forever.
You sighed and turned your head a little to glance in Tamons direction. Your seat was the one in the last row, just like his. Except his was on the other side of the room. Either way, you had a perfectly free view towards him. It was only meant to be a glance, but when your eyes met his, you quickly averted yours.
Ten minutes later, the teacher forced everyone to sit with their assigned partners. Sometimes you asked yourself if assigned partners in a class full of people that for the most part did *not* like each other was just the teachers sadistic idea of fun.
“So…” You began awkwardly. “How do you want to handle this?” His eyes kept flicking between you, the blackboard, and his notebook. He was nervous, anxious, actually. Your hand raised on its own, below the table. You quickly aborted the movement and confined your hand into the pocket of your jacket. When you had still been together, you had always comforted him by placing a hand on his. It calmed him whenever he had been anxious. Doing it now was ridiculous, though. You were the reason he was anxious in the first place.
“I- uhm.. so, like maybe… uh…” You knew what he was going to suggest. Nothing was as easy for this topic as music. Obviously, both of you played an instrument, and both of you enjoyed music a lot. Most of your playlist was still made up of songs he recommended, and all his currently used headphones were brands and series you had researched and recommended. So he technically didn’t even have to say it. Now, did you want to help him get his point across or watch him struggle a little to say it?
You decided you’d watch him struggle. At least a little, for now. “We could-“ He choked and coughed. You hoped that wasn’t him trying to keep himself from vomiting. “Let’s make the project about music. Should we go with punk music? It’s the most political genre I can think of at the top of my head.” Truth was, I couldn’t watch him struggle. It felt a little too cruel, considering you knew exactly what he was thinking. “Yeah that- that sounds good.”
You worked on what you would be talking about, which bands you’d involve, and how the presentation would be structured. Finally, you split the topics in two to research about at home and get back to each other in the next class.
Surprisingly, Tamons stuttering and choking had stopped pretty early into the conversation. Surprisingly, your initial deter also vanished quite quickly. You had found yourself working efficiently and surprisingly comfortably together. It almost reminded of when you had been together still. You didn’t want to think about that, though.
That day, you went home screaming into your pillow because, oh, his hands. His hands were just as pretty as they had been before. The finger just as long, the nailbeds as unfairly perfectly shaped. His nose was still so straight, his cheekbones still so high, the acne on the outer perimeter of his temples was still weirdly attractive, and his lips still jutted out a little whenever he was concentrated. It was unfair, so unfair. Two months of trying to move on and a single project together made all that work crash and crumble pathetically. You wanted the earth to open up and swallow you.
You thought about begging your mom to let you stay home the next day. You needed distance to get your mind back on the right track. You could not be feeling attracted to your ex, and you were sure as hell not regaining a crush in him. You’d rather live in the in-between forever as phantom.
During the next lesson, you realized that you couldn’t even look his way. Not that you meant to. Your gaze was just sometimes drawn to him. You couldn’t help that. But you couldn’t look his way without getting caught. It was the worst. He caught your eye every single time you looked at him. He always looked away, just slightly flustered. You counted that as a win in your book, sometimes, even if you didn’t like to admit it to yourself.
With more time spent together over the project, touch also turned into something more casual. At first you both had avoided it, as if the other person was poisonous but after the first time where your hands brushed when you had reached over the small table, and you both had flinched away from each other, and the second and third time where your arm had bumped into him and your knee touched his, the hostility had died down quite easily. You dared to blame it on the fact that you hadn’t been broken up for very long.
But what was worst of all those things was that an ex could never go back to a stranger. There is no such thing as a stranger who knows everything about you. Experiences will always connect you because experiences are something you can’t erase, unlike a bond. So, really, it was again instinct more than anything else when he had shown up without a cap to school, and you had offered him your headband without having thought much about it. In retrospect, you might not have thought at all.
Tamon hated having his hair in his face. He already had his hair short, and yet, whenever he didn’t pull it back, it bothered him how it fell on his forehead. He would never get a buzzcut, though. He had tried that once, and you had seen the pictures of it, and he really didn’t look the best with it. You had the hypothesis, though, that only 1 percent of people actually looked good with a buzzcut, and everyone else was just getting it to make themselves feel something.
Your hand was outstretched, bearing the headband. Tamon looked down on it. For a moment, no one did anything. It was a moment your head conveniently chose to go into overdrive with the thinking. Finally, he said. “For me?” By this point, your head had convinced you that you were thoughtless and an embarrassment to yourself, but you couldn’t take it back now, so you just nodded.
He looked up at you, a little hesitant, and took the headband. “Thank you.” He smiled. You tried to read his eyes, but you really knew you didn’t need to. He was surprised, apparently positively so. You were sure he was. You would’ve been, too. No, you would’ve been shocked and would have spent the whole day thinking about it.
It was a neutral looking zigzag hairband, so it didn’t look out of place on him. It looked really good on him even. Then again, nothing couldn’t when you have a perfect hairline and a full, thick head of hair. Still, it looked a bit personal. That was your headband sitting atop his head. It felt the same as if he wore one of your shirts. Unexpectedly personal. Only when he had already put it on did you think about the fact that people would see and notice. All your friends knew you loved to wear your zigzag hairband. Seeing him wear it would make them go feral in more ways than one. You were sure at least one of them would attack you, frothing at the mouth because what are you doing, giving your ex your hairband??
You supposed they were right. Which didn’t change anything about the fact that you couldn’t really tell him nevermind, give it back. So you were stuck glancing at him every five minutes with your hand strategically placed over your cheeks so he wouldn’t see how much you could feel yourself burn.
“We could put lyrics into this slide from a popular song that had a lot of influence.” He suggested, already whipping out his phone to scroll through songs on his playlist. You glanced over at the screen. You knew he had a good music taste, but when you actually saw the list of songs, you stilled. That was your playlist. Why was he still listening to your playlist? Well, it’s not like you could claim you were any better than him, but still.
You didn’t like to admit how much fun you had making the project together. It was hard to unsee what you used to love in someone else.
The end of it approached way too quickly. You had handed it in so soon already. The two weeks you had received to finish it flew by. Now, all you needed to still do was actually present it. That was the part that made you nervous. Not for yourself, you were quite decent, talking in front of crowds, even if you didn’t like it very much. You were worried for Tamon.
You found him shortly before class. He leaned by the wall in front of the classroom with his notes gripped tightly. He was sickly pale. You guessed he had already thrown up once. You took a breath and swallowed all of the remaining pride you had left. Then you approached him.
“Tamon? Are you okay?” You asked in an intonation so caring that you briefly wondered if you were stepping out of line. He looked up and opened his mouth to speak, but shut it again quickly. “I- I-“ He attempted but shook his head more to himself than to you. His eyes grew wide, and he clutched a hand in front of his mouth, shortly stilling and staring down on the floor. You waited patiently until he had calmed himself.
He pushed off the wall and past you, making a beeline for the bathroom. You sighed and dug in your backpack for your emergency pouch. You pulled out painkillers and gingers candy.
You waited in front of the bathroom until he came out again, even more pale than earlier. “Wh- what are you doing- doing?” He stuttered, exhausted. “I couldn’t just.. y’know?” You knew he understood what you were trying to convey. He averted his eyes.
“Here.” You offered him the pain killers and ginger candy, as well as your water bottle. “I didn’t drink from it yet.” You added. He hesitated, but then he accepted it with trembling hands. He put the ginger candy into his pocket for when he could stomach it. “Thank you.” He whispered. “Don’t worry about it. I had it.. on hand.” You didn’t mention that you had gone out of your way to buy the candy last week because you knew it helped with nausea. You always used to have it ready for him.
You stood together against the wall in a comfortable silence. One that didn’t need words because you both knew everything that hung in the air between you. Suddenly, he spoke your name in a raspy whisper. Your head perked up.
“Do you really think we couldn’t have worked out?” He asked quietly. You looked away. This was not a conversation you wanted to have. You heard him shift a little. In your peripheral vision, you saw him twist a little towards you. You stayed silent. “Sorry.” He said after a while.
You sighed quietly. Then you drew in a breath. The floor was dirty. “I just… I don’t know anymore if I made the right judgement.” Your own voice got quiet. “What do you mean by that?” You hated having this conversation. Absolutely. “I.. I don’t know. This is stupid. I’m sorry. I don’t want to confuse you. We should focus.” You shook your head and pushed off the wall. “I’m going to class. Make sure you don’t come too late. Or go home. Whatever you want.” You shrugged it off and turned to walk away.
His hand gripped your wrist. He was cold. “If you have doubts.. we could try again?” He rasped. “Wh-“ “We- We had fun, right? Wasn’t it fun to work on the project? We know so much about each other, too.. we could just try. Like- like a trial run, and we try to make it better this time. Act better and be more open to each other. If it doesn’t work, then we can end it. For real this time.” He suggested. When you turned around to him, his eyebrows were knitted and drawn up in a pleading expression.
"Tamon..” You began. “Please just think about it.” Did you really try so hard to move on, only to let yourself give in now? Throw all that work away? Cry over nothing? But maybe it was worth a try. A second chance.
You sucked in a breath and looked up into his eyes. “Okay. Let’s try.”
Hiiii first off THE CONFESSION FIC WAS SO GOOD oh my days thank you for your service anyway it made me start to think about like the concept of reader being an artist and being in the art club and then one day they put their sketchbook down somewhere and then a ghost appears from thin air and steals the sketchbook and reader returns and is like „NOOOOOOO WHERE HAS IT GONE TO“ and then it cuts to the phantom squad randomly finding the ghost, defeating it and then you see zaki checking out the sketchbook and he finds this like dramatic short manga story sketched in there and it like brings him to tears and he’s like „this is peak“ and then an hour later while they’re lounging in the club room the reader barges in being like „A DEMON STOLE MY SKETCHBOOK“ and then they see it in zaki‘s hand and just grab it in lightning speed being like „omg u found it“ and then shenanigans occur and after a while the reader finds out about zaki‘s interest in manga and his reaction to the reader’s sketched out story and then they just playfully ask „hey if you want to, you can be my editor“ and then zaki‘s mind just explodes :D so yea I’m definitely not crazy about him but umm these were my random thoughts (they’re very chaotic I have a bad habit of continuing my crazy sentences with and and and)
HIII so first of all THANK YOU omg I love you. You dont know, this ask made my day. Second of all, I absolutely enjoyed writing this so consider it a fic for you. Zaki lovers unite🫡
Sketchbook
Your stomach was in knots. You had locked yourself up in the art room to try and finish your manga as quickly as possible.
You had set your deadline for the new chapter to two days from now, and you hadn't even finished drawing everything yet, let alone the editing and details. Somehow, you really always managed to procrastinate so badly.
You were crouched over your project, huddled into a corner table by a big window. You loved this spot. It let the sun shine through so nicely every time. Besides, it was always a free spot. Usually, the reason for that was that people had claimed to have gotten haunted after sitting there, but you sit there every time you come here, so you didn't believe it. After all, you weren't haunted. You have always been fine. Appearantly, it's especially bad when boys sit in this spot. Some of them told real horror stories, coming back to school the next day.
You continued drawing, relaxing with one headphone in, when suddenly the music switched off. Your eyebrows knitted a little.
Just before the best part of the song? How annoying.
You set down your pen and pulled out your phone to press 'play'. As soon as the music started up again, your pen rolled off the table and fell to the ground with a light click. You sighed and bent to pick it up. Then, when you dove back up again and reached for your sketchbook, a prickly cold feeling enveloped your hand. You quickly flinched back.
What was that - ?
A transparent, grey hand had reached for your notebook at the same time as you had. You looked up in shock. On your opposite end of the table, sat what you could only describe as a ghost. A young girl with a first year uniform and her braided hair thrown over one shoulder. She was covered in paint streaks and had a brush lodged into her breast pocket. When you made eyecontact, her mouth twisted into a smile that was just a little too wide for comfort. A giggle escaped the girl. "Can I see it?" She asked, her eyes squinting happily as she pulled the notebook over to her side. "No - no, wait! I still need that!" You protested, quickly standing up to try and grab for your notebook. You heard the chair clattering to the floor behind you, from the force with which you had stood up, but you ignored it. "Just let me see!" The young ghost laughed and hugged the notebook tightly to her chest, standing up from her own chair that you weren't sure she even had been able to sit on and taking a few steps back until she dissapeared into the door of a locker. You stood there, taken aback with what had just happened. A ghost had just stolen your manga. A ghost had just stolen your manga. You groaned. There was absolutely no way.
There was a ghost on the loose stealing stationary. Specifically from girls. So, the phantom busters gathered their combined intelligence and came up with a plan. Offer up their clubroom as a studyroom for some girls from class. Or rather, let them study with Koreshiki.
The rest of the boys, who were decidedly not the gentlemanly womanizer that Koreshiki was, had been banned to waiting outside the room. The three of them sat in a circle just outside, playing cards that Tamon had found in his backpack after a whole hour of lounging around bored out of their mind.
Kanzaki grinned. "Uno uno, I won!" The other two groaned. "You always win! Be honest. Are you cheating?" Mogari complained. "Don't be such a bad looser, I'm just good at this game." He shrugged. His sister loved to play Uno with him every time she was bored, so he had gotten enough practice in on that.
Kanzaki and Tamon froze when distict giggling came from the hallway. Mogari was quick to place a hand on Kanzakis shoulder. "That has to be it, right? The stationary ghost?" Tamon asked. "Yeah, let's eat it." Mogari shot up to his feet. "No, wait, let's talk to it first!" The green haired boy protested. Mogari sighed. "Fine, but if it doesn't want to talk, then I'll eat it." He licked his upper lip. The ghost, a young girl, appeared in a flash. Zaki was dragged along by Mogari as the boy walked towards it. "Hey! Ghost! Please let us talk to you!" Tamon tried to get her attention. She glanced at him but ignored him. "Ghost, please!" The girl spun around. "I dont like boys." She announced and decidedly kept going into the direction of the clubroom. "I'd rather talk to girls. Girls are nice, at least! And girls have pretty stuff, too. Unlike guys." She added. "Can I eat her now?" Mogari asked Tamon, but he just made a vague motion with his head.
"Wait, please," Tamon attempted again, blocking the ghosts path to the clubroom, symbolically rather than physically, seeing as the ghost could pass right through him if she so wished to "I thought you liked girls, so why steal their things?" He asked. "They have pretty things! I never got to have any pretty things." She answered. "But that can't be all. Is there something you wish for? There must be a reason you're still here, right?" She was a ghost after all, she must have an unfulfilled wish.
Upon his words, the girl stopped and averted her eyes. "What is it you wish for?" Tamon asked again, this time a little softer, more gentle. "I just want something pretty from a girl. A pretty present." She explained, eyes still averted, her hands clasped together behind her back.
Before any of the others could, Kanzaki dug into his bag and pulled out a glittery pink pen that his sister had once hidden in his jacket when they were younger. "You can have this. It's from my sister." He offered. The girl spun around to him and happily took the pen. "Thank you!" She exclaimed. Slowly but surely, her figure began to fade until she had dissapeared entirely.
"Now that that's settled, let's go get our clubroom back." Mogari opened the door and announced something, Tamon following closely behind, but Zaki stayed back. The ghost had dropped something. He picked up the notebook.
It was pretty, the cover a brown colour with the brand name in cream beige printed on top. He opened it, flipped to a random page, and found -- a manga panel? His eyes scanned the page as his hand raised lightly to his mouth. This is good. Like good good.
The white haired boy squeezed past the girls exiting the clubroom and dropped down on a chair, flipping all the way to the front of the notebook. It was a manga, a romance manga. Prettily drawn out with an artistic sweep within the lineart that he sometimes admired. It was a simple line but so perfectly placed and curved. At least, in his opinion, that itself was a skill already.
The manga was a story about a clumsy girl with a crush on a popular boy and a loser kind of guy, who was obviously the actual male lead, that was supposed to help her get with the popular boy. He'd read the trope many times, maybe a little too often, but it was cute.
"What are you reading?" Koreshiki asked. "Just a new manga." The silver haired boy muttered back as he fully settled in his chair and began to read the story.
You had searched the whole school. She was nowhere.
Maybe she was in one of the lockers you hadn't been able to peek into? Sadly, not that many students had shown themselves willing to open their locker for you. You were sure she was some kind of locker ghost.
With no choice left, you dragged your feet to the clubroom of a group of boys who called themselves exorcists. You didn't really believe it. There were most likely all chuunibyou. But it was your last option.
By now, you were sure an hour must have passed. You just needed to get that notebook back. You knocked and pressed down the doorhandle.
In the room sat four boys. Mogari Shishikuno, a little bit of a lunatic according to your friends who were in his class, the greenhaired boy that you always saw running away from everyone who attempted to talk to him, Eugene Korekishi, the boy who showed up wet to the bone for his opening speech during orientation and a delinquent looking guy who seemed to be focused on something else.
You felt three pairs of eyes on you. You shifted a little uncomfortably, searching hold for your hand in the doorway. "Uhm, there was a ghost in the art room earlier. She, uh, stole my notebook so, since you're exorcists..."
if you guys even are any.
You left the end open, your request obvious enough. Eugene Korekishi exchanged glances with his friends. "We just exorcised a ghost like that." He began, but you stopped listening to him as your eyes drifted over to the boy with the silver hair. He was reading something from a notebook with his back to you. He turned the page. You stiffened. You would recognize that panel anywhere.
That was your notebook, your manga, and he was just casually reading it??
You quickly strode toward him, any hesitance and nervosity forgotten, and Korekishis confused stuttering tactfully ignored. "Excuse me, this is my notebook." You spoke a little awkwardly. He looked up to you from where he was sitting. His eyes were an incredible shade of green and purple, crossed out by scars. He smiled a little and offered the sketchbook up to you. "Sorry about that. I really like your story." You took it from him, the pages strangely warm from his hands. "Uhm, thank you." You answered, willing the heat to stay down. You left as quickly as possible, only trusting yourself to breathe after you had closed the door.
Why on earth was he so pretty? And then his leisure smile as he held out the book? Oh my god, and then the compliment?
You shook your head. Your fingers dug a little into the pages.
It was a day later when you told your friends about him, and your one of them told you that he was probably a huge anime nerd and always reading manga in breaks.
It had you slowly walking back to the phantom busters clubroom during lunchbreak with your sketchbook clutched in your hands. You hesitantly knocked and opened the door. This time, it was only the green haired boy and the silver haired one sitting there. You thought you saw the latter right himself upon seeing you, but you didn't dare believe it. "Hello, do you need an exorcism?" He asked. You shook your head. No, uhm, I actually wanted to talk to you. You tried to suppress a wave of embarrassment when he turned his head to exchange a look with the other one.
Then he stood up and walked a little closer. "Yeah, what is it?" He ran a hand through his hair. "So uhm, I heard that you really liked manga and I mean, you told me that you liked mine and uh, so uhm.. I dont know. This sounds stupid." You hand found a lock of your own hair. "Uhm, if you want to, you can read it. Maybe even like, tell me what I could improve and stuff.. like an editor a little. You don't have to, of course, but.." He stared at me blankly for a beat, and a disappointed and embarrassed pang in my chest almost had you take a step away from him. Then he smiled, looked down, and ran his hand over his face. "Yeah. Yeah, I'd love to. Absolutely."
