Steve and Bucky get those best friend collars for their dog. Bucky swears it was Steve's idea and that he doesn't even like the dog. The team knows better, Bucky hasn't taken his off his wrist since they got them.
It’s hard to see Honey’s friendship collar, so mostly when people see Bucky’s bracelet they think he’s wearing it for Steve, the red and white stripes, the blue field with white stars.
He doesn’t think he minds, until --
“Why would someone kidnap a dog?” he snaps, chasing after the fuck who’s got Honey in an enormous cage on the back of his motorcycle. Bucky vaults a cab; Steve somersaults out of the way.
“I don’t know, Buck,” Steve replies. “Sam, you in the air yet?”
“Just -- now,” Sam says into their comms, and he grunts the way he always does on launch.
Steve catches up to a sedan, leaping onto its trunk and then its roof; when it stops hard he launches himself off the windshield, landing on the dognapper’s back.
The motorcycle goes spinning out of control -- Bucky stops dead in the street, paralyzed; Honey -- but Sam’s already spiraling up into the air with the cage, Honey barking excitedly.
Bucky stares up at the two of them. Honey grins down at him, her tongue hanging out.
Later Steve tells them that the guy had just wanted the dog, and that he wouldn’t have taken it had he known the Captains America would come to save her.
“Check her collar next time, asshole,” Bucky tells him, and kicks him in the shins.
