The interest Verlaine holds in the young man before him isn't as all-consuming as it may have been in the past. That's what he thinks, at least, but to be honest, it's difficult for Verlaine to be certain of how he would've reacted to the existence of Sync at all, since so much has changed since then.
But to meet yet another artificial lifeform now, after all these years... while Verlaine doesn't know the details, and Sync's origins aren't quite the same as his or Chuuya's, when he heard the news, he felt something inside him begin to stir. ...It's not quite the same kind of feeling as the one he felt for his younger brother, all those years ago - perhaps because he's learnt by now the foolishness of his assumptions in the past. He'd thought Chuuya was the same as him, but in the end, the views they held towards the world, humanity, and even themselves couldn't have been more different. ...And that was what led to Verlaine's complete and utter defeat.
It's for that reason that he knows better than to repeat the same mistake. Yet... the foolishness of the heart isn't always so easy to leave behind. If it were, he wouldn't be here, would he?
"It was difficult to find you, you know." he says, smiling ever so naturally, no hint of any danger lurking in his eyes. "Surely you can spare at least a moment to talk. As guests go, you must've had worse."
