Today was a little rough. A bit choppy. The waters of life kept trying to drown me.
Out of nowhere a life boat rescued me. I’m battered….
But I’m still here. Bruised by the waves, burnt by the merciless rays of the sun.
My hair is dried out by the salt in the sea. Eyes burning.
But I’m still here. Clothes torn by tempest roar. Skin ashen & bleached, body bent & broken.
Mouth dried among a vast sea. Lips chapped…
But I’m still here. Floating into an abyss, He offers His light. I nod, words are useless now.
He stands & shields me from a wave “CRASH”
Am I still here? I reach out & grab His ankles. There’s a scar on His foot.
I look up & there’s another one on His side. Who is this? “CRASH”
Another wave comes beating down.
Breath held! Nothing. He took the beating for me?
I catch a quick glimpse of His back, scars. No, grooves.
His back bruised, His skin pealing, gashes of seared flesh.
I say nothing. Who is this broken, bruised chastised stranger? "WHOOSH"
I lose my balance for a moment, He grabs my hand.
They’re rough. There’s a matching scar on His hand like the one from His foot.
Not sure who He is, but I feel so safe.
He kneels down & pulls me into His arms. I nestle in the cocoon-like nook.
Within seconds I begin to fall asleep.
He hushes me & whispers “I am with you even to the end of the world”
