(And now here’s Flint, AKA Trickster! God, I love his outfit. I love his feathered hat so much XD No, seriously, can I get all of these guys’ outfits for myself? Anyway, cool hat, cool cravat, cool mask, my man is just cool and I adore that in a design.)

Brain: Remember when you drew everyone in the Investigation Institute for the pride HC post?

Me: Yes?

Result of four days worth of work over here: my darling Institute sillies as popstars ^^ And, funnily enough, the first time I’ve properly drawn them—as in, not in my even-more-simplified style I use for joke posts or to save time—ever. Anyway, artist commentary + in-universe lore bits under the cut!

The basic uniform’s the same, but everyone’s got some customization going on to make them stand out. The gradient sleeves in everyone’s signature colors—idea hit me like a bolt out of the blue and I had to add it. (Even if Flint’s was more trouble than it was worth, since there’s no good way to curve gradients ^^;) Similarly, everyone’s got glitter in their hair and makeup. One imagines these guys find glitter in their homes a lot :P

Onyx and Azure wear skirts (+ Onyx has leggings), Raven has a showgirl skirt over shorts, and Umber made it very clear you could not pay her to wear a skirt so she gets pants. Night and Cloud also wear pants, Flint and Seashell have shorts (+ Seashell also has leggings).

I gave Umber dyed tips for the AU, but my design for canon her also has the tattoo, you just can’t see it under the jacket.

Azure’s meant to be wearing star earrings (three stars hanging on a string—y’all see the vision?), but you can’t see them under her hair :P

Cloud’s top is meant to be baggier than everyone else’s, hence the curve of the fabric. (He still has eyebags here, they’re just covered by makeup.

I might redesign this AU’s Irratino a bit? Mostly just to make him more consistent with everyone else + fix some flaws that slipped past the first time + possibly a new hairstyle? Oh, and patterns :P But that’s for later, right now I’m going to not pick up a pen for the next few days because WOW this took a while, BYE—

Happy Pride Month! To celebrate, have some pride headcanons + a fair few canon canons for the Investigation Institute ^^ Nine characters. So many colors. So many references. I gave up on shading because that would’ve taken even LONGER. I did not eat while I was drawing this, I was so FOCUSED.

Hope it was worth it! If it wasn’t, uh. I drew my Institute designs for the first time, that was pretty cool ^^ (And if you don’t recognize some of the flags—I gotcha covered. Starts from center, then we go clockwise starting from the top!)

Inspector Irratino: Gay, gets the rainbow flag because favoritism + being the boss + I wanted to draw him in rainbow colors ^^

Herbalist Onyx: Asexual lesbian

High Alchemist Raven: Bisexual, gray-aromantic (assumed she was just aromantic for a long time, but as time’s gone by she’s realized there are a few people she wouldn’t mind a relationship with)

Numerologist Night: Aroace, non-binary

Philologist Flint: Pansexual, transgender

Sociologist Umber: Demisexual, panromantic, agender

Astrologer Azure: Omnisexual (fair bit more into guys), pangender

Cryptozoologist Cloud: Genderfluid, transmasculine, gray-asexual

Dr. Seashell, DDS: Demisexual, MLM (specifically for one man :P)
