It seems that whenever I begin to open my heart up to someone, they proceed to stamp all over it, leaving it in a constant state of vulnerable healing and tender bruises. Sometimes I wonder if it will ever fully heal, or if anyone will willingly choose to love, protect, and nurture it. I guess that’s what ‘love’ is - the complete faith and absolute trust in another’s ability and willingness to wholeheartedly accept, and passionately guard your heart. Love is a risk, as is life, but if we didn’t take that risk, we would never experience ‘life’.
