The way Grace reacts to DuBois, Shapiro, Yáo and Ilyukhina's deaths is so interesting. He meets these people only because they sign up to commit suicide for the greater good. Over literal years, he spends every second with them knowing that they're going to die. He dots the Is on their preferred suicide methods.

Weir wrote him as someone who doesn't let people too close to him but he still gets so attached to the crews that their actual deaths genuinely devastate him.

PMH movie may not have had DuBois and Shapiro announcing their sex life and subtly inviting Grace to a threesome like the book, but we did get them seeing him across the bar and really digging his vibe which is basicaly the same thing

I like to think that after DuBois and Shapiro left That One Meeting with Grace, Stratt was meanwhile stepping into the bathroom, thinking ‘maybe Grace was right. We’re all professionals. Perhaps it won’t even occur to the astronauts to have se-‘

I genuinely think DuBois and Shapiro did a double suicide. In the book, there was an entire section of flashback sequence in which they explained that they were in a sexual relationship

Every other flashback had explanation for another event EXCEPT for that one. Not to mention that it's a coincidence that they both happened to be together when the explosion went off

My theory is that they didn't want to be apart from each other, since one of they would end up dying, so they staged an extremely volatile test to kill themselves, but they were accidentally given too much astrophage, so the explosion was much bigger than intended
